Volume 3 Chapter 41 Love Call II

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

 Kian.

Azrael once gave you a trial.

You had to leave your home and travel everywhere to become the true god’s apostle.

After overcoming the trial and gaining power, you must save the Vahid family.

 This is God’s will.

Umar Vahid, the former leader of the Vahid family, commands this in Azrael’s name.

Kian Vahid, return to the Vahid lands at once.

 Your efforts are recognized.

From today, you will once again bear the name Vahid.

Serve for the Vahid family and for Azrael.

Your homeland waits for the return of a true warrior monk.

Brave and devout warrior of God, Kian Vahid.

You are the worthy apostle to inherit Vahid.

 Umar Vahid.

 ”────”

 He tried to stay calm.

After all, he was almost 30 and Abbas and Priscilla were watching.

 He couldn’t show a bad side──.

He thought he could control himself.

But as he read the letter, his hand gripped the edge tightly and turned into a fist.

He felt his vision shake, and then he noticed his arm was trembling hard.

 Probably.

Right now, Kian’s face must look hideous, like a monster or demon.

It was a miracle he didn’t tear the letter apart.

 ”────”

 ”……”

 ”…””────”

Abbas, Priscilla, Zayn, and Katyusha noticed Kian’s change and their faces paled.

 This is bad──.

Even Abbas looked like he thought, ‘We’ve done it now.’

 ”──What is this?”

After a long pause, Kian somehow found a calm voice.

But his voice shook with anger, just as expected.

”This is a summons from your father.”

Demete, the only one with a calm face, replied smoothly.

 Kian raised an eyebrow.

”I know that. I’m talking about what’s in this letter.”

”This is a formal document. As you can see, a clerk wrote it, and it surely doesn’t share all the important details. I’m here to share my master’s true intentions clearly. First, please listen to my story. I’ll explain the benefits of your return.”

”The document already shows my father’s intent. The clerk did a great job. My father’s──his desperate wish to use me shows beautifully on paper.”

”But the truth is, that secret letter only says to return. It says nothing about the current state of the Vahid family, how many loyal followers you’d have if Sir Kian returns, or how to defeat Jibril. I have some materials ready, so let’s go to the casino’s tavern area, and I’ll explain more.”

’Kian, break the letter. You have to show your anger properly, or they’ll keep looking down on you.’

 (────)

 He narrowed his eyes.

Throwing away the letter from the former Twelve Divine Generals shows hostility towards Demete.

It could also stain the efforts of Abbas and Priscilla, who made it possible to send Demete here.

But as ‘glasses’ said, this is a moment to show anger.

He can’t just smile after being treated like this.

They act as if they’re calling a Lower-rank Adventurer.

They have no respect for him at all.

 ”Ah!”

”…! Sir Abbas, please step back!”

Seeing Kian ignite with rage as he shredded the letter, Zayn and Katyusha stepped in front of Abbas to protect him.

Demete, standing right in front of Kian, narrowed his eyes.

”I’ll take my leave now. I’m sorry, Sir Abbas and Ms. Priscilla, but I’m not feeling well.”

”The cold sea breeze can make you sick. Please rest. Once you feel better, I would like to meet Sir Kian. It would be great if you could tell me the tavern address where you will stay. It will save me from searching.”

 ”Hey, Demete!”

 ”What is it, Sir Abbas?”

Abbas frowned at Demete, who turned around with a serious face.

He started to say something, shook his head, and pushed the dark elf shaman aside.

”You should step back. ──Kian. No, Lord Kian of Izerland, I am very sorry. I don’t know what the letter says that blew away in the wind, but I heard the details and feelings from Lord Umar. We have been friends for years and often shared meals. So, I want to share Lord Umar’s true intentions with you instead of Demete. Can you wait a little longer?”

 ”Lord Kian.”

 Priscilla’s quiet voice echoed.

She knelt before Kian in her dress and spoke seriously.

”I am just an outsider who heard this from the side, but this casino is the finest among my shops. The tavern here has many fine wines just for you to enjoy tonight. If you find it unpleasant, I can ask the dark elf shaman to leave, but please drink at least one drink inside.”

’So clever. She plan to keep you here, let you drink, calm you down, and then try persuading that red-haired boy again at the right moment, right? Kian, you can go home now.’

”Ms. Priscilla. I met with Sir Abbas and Demete as per our agreement. I read the secret letter, and I have nothing more to say. I want to end this meeting.”

 ”――――.”

Priscilla bit her lip and looked at Abbas.

She looked very sorry and weakly shook her head.

”Ugh! Lord Kian! Your father is sick and stuck in bed! In the Vahid house, Jibril won’t stop his craziness, using strange magic to turn palace women into monsters! Lord Umar is worried about this and sent you a letter, hoping for help! Please… just listen a bit longer! I beg you!”

”Well, why not let the servants just die?”

 Kian continued.

”Fifteen years ago, my father told me ‘Just die already!’ and cast me away from Azrael. Is that what you call a ‘test from God’? ‘Your efforts are appreciated’? He wants me to be grateful and come home because he gives me back the name Vahid? I can only feel shocked, not angry anymore.”

”…Wha!? I had no idea they wrote such a letter… Lord Umar, what are you saying…”

”Since I was exiled, I’ve struggled for 15 years. That’s as long as I was in Azrael. I have a life in Franz Kingdom and a future! Why should I go back now to take care of my father?”

”Kian! I’m asking you to think of your love for Azrael and your parents! Please, just listen a little longer!”

The red-haired young man rushed in.

Kian stopped and tilted his head.

 ”What is love, anyway?”

 ”――――――――.”

”All I remember is being despised and hated by my father. My only ally there was Sarah. Nobody, including Demete and the other servants, stood up for me when I was exiled. They pretended not to see and kept quiet, just to avoid Umar’s anger. It was all because I was born without magic power.”

”But still, the lord gave life to Sir Kian, providing food and a bed until you were 15. You got a chance for education because he wanted you to have it.”

Demete stepped forward, pushing Abbas aside.

”Have you thought about how much it costs to raise you? You owe that debt.”

 ”Yeah, that’s true.”

Kian turned to the dark elf.

”I have to pay back my father for raising me.”

”Demete! That’s not right! It sounds like being born is just a big debt.”

”Sir Abbas, Sir Kian is not a sweet person who can be convinced by feelings. It’s better to explain the pros and cons in simple math. Show him that it’s better for him to come back.”

”Your thinking is very demon-like! It doesn’t sound human!”

”I am a smart dark elf. I don’t trust human emotions. People act only when they gain more than they lose or when they want something badly. Sir Kian, I can explain the benefits of going home and meeting your desires. Let’s start by seeing if we can use each other.”

What Demete said was, frankly, terrible.

If he thought he could convince them with that, he was a real monster.

But as he listened, Kian did start to wonder about how Umar and Jibril were doing.

’Are you really going to get involved with these guys? Do they mean it?’

(Besides worrying about Vahid, I also wanted to know about Sarah’s family, the Nakash family. He thought they got my anger well enough, and now it was time to be calm and think about getting information for his own gain.)

Of course, he had no intention of going back just because of Demete’s invitation.

Umar probably didn’t have much power now, with Jibril taking control.

Being called back to that would bring nothing but trouble.

Earlier, they said something about passing on ‘the estate, property, and loyal servants’ to Kian, but those were things Jibril actually owned.

Umar just wanted to use Kian to get them back.
