Volume 1 Chapter 8-2 Iron Sand Digging
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
Today, Ani-Ani was nearby, moving around, so I thought she would come over soon.
”What’s wrong? Aren’t you going to play in the water with everyone?”
”There’s no way I can do that! You perverted hero!”
She was bright red and angry.
It seems she didn’t join because she was too shy to get n*ked, even though all the other girls were swimming.
”I see, you’re a little shy, huh?”
As soon as I said that, she kicked me suddenly.
Even I can handle this much… wait, what?
Ouch, that hurts!
She was serious, no mercy at all.
My HP was slowly going down.
If I had defense or evasion skills, a village girl’s kick wouldn’t hurt at all, but I don’t have those skills.
The only skill I have is Stealth… but Stealth skills don’t work if the opponent sees you first.
To be exact, once they clearly recognize my presence, the effect of hiding disappears immediately.
I’ve tried it a few times, but it didn’t work at all on the brown quail.
But what about against a child?
Compared to wild animals, she shouldn’t be that tough.
Perfect, I’ll try it on Ani-Ani.
After days of fighting with the quails, my Stealth skill evolved, and now I can use 3 new skills: optical camouflage, silence, and Scentless.
For a human, I might not need silence and Scentless.
I’ll activate optical camouflage to try to hide from Ani-Ani’s sight.
As I activated it, an invisible aura wrapped around my body, but Ani-Ani’s gaze quickly broke through it and made it disappear.
…No problem, just as I expected.
Compared to wild brown quails, Ani-Ani’s eyesight isn’t that strong.
Just watch, I’ll overpower her with my strength.
I focused on the mana circulating in my body.
I know from experience that while Stealth is active, it keeps using MP, and by forcing the MP consumption to increase, I can temporarily power up the skill.
Overloading my mana is a trick, I need to imagine it to control it.I’ve never done martial arts, so I imagine it like the energy techniques in anime.
I know it sounds silly, but it works pretty well.
Okay, let’s do that today.
I imagine my hair standing up and shining gold, and I add a “rumble, rumble” sound effect in my head to get pumped up.
It’s even better if I can imagine some background music too.
I’m just imagining it in my head, so my hair doesn’t actually stand up.
But it uses about 3 times more MP, and my skills get a little stronger.
I call it “Super Me” mode.
”Haaaaah!”
I can feel the pipes in my body getting bigger as the mana flows through them, and my MP drains fast.
”What are you doing? That’s gross, you pervert hero!”
Huh?
My Stealth skill is going down faster than before.
Everyone else is looking at me now.
With more than ten pairs of eyes on me, even “Super Me” mode can’t help.
…Maybe I got a little too into it with the kids.
I guess I’ll stop there for today.
I used the last of my Stealth skill and threw it at Ani-Ani’s forehead.
No reason, I was just annoyed.
”What! You just disappeared! Magic? Magician? Everyone saw him do something!”
I was surprised by Ani-Ani’s reaction.
It seems like some kind of magic happened by accident.
Ani-Ani ran away from me and toward her friends, maybe she was scared.
What was that?
I’m a little curious, but I played around too much.
I should focus on collecting iron sand.
The sun is already past noon, if I don’t hurry, I’ll lose my 10,000 gold.
I press the magic tool’s switch for just a second and let go.
This way, the iron sand floats up, but it doesn’t fly around like before.
Slowly, the iron sand piled up.
When I gathered enough, I asked Ms. Nina to spread out a burlap sack.
I touched the tip of the magic tool to the mountain of iron sand, and when I flipped the switch, the iron sand twisted and coiled around like a black snake.
Lifting the iron sand onto the burlap sack, I turned off the switch, and the sand plopped into the bag with a thud.
”Wow… Is that magic?”
Before I knew it, the kids had turned into my little audience.
Sure, the way the iron sand sticks to the magnet is kind of cool.
For kids who’ve never seen a science experiment, it must be an amazing sight.
Their eyes are sparkling with excitement.
”You can watch, but stay back a bit. It’s dangerous.”
”Okay!”
For some reason, they are listening to me more than usual. What’s up with them?
The magnetic force of the tool was running low, so I needed to swap out the magic stone.
This stone looked just like a standard battery.
The only difference is that the positive end has a crystal ball stuck in it.
Swapping is super easy, the magic tool opens with a snap, I just change the stone and snap it back in place.
It takes less than 5 seconds to do.
”Cool!”
”That’s a magic stone, I know it!”
”Dad said you need a mountain of gold coins to buy a magic stone.”
”Wow, the hero is amazing!”
What’s up?
Do these kids think magic tools are special?
”Hey, it’s lunchtime. Go home, you’re bothering me.”
”But you said we could watch, hero!”
Calling me a hero throws me off.
”I’ll show you my special move, then you can go home. That’s a promise!”
I got the kids to stand back, held down the switch, and swung the tool with a big spinning motion.
”Magnetic Hurricaaane!!!”
I shouted a random name for the move just for fun.
A literal tornado of iron sand began to swirl.
The spiral motion made the center a safe zone, which is clever.
I should’ve just done it like this from the start!
Keeping my promise, the kids went home nicely.
From that day on, I stopped getting bullied by the village kids.
