Volume 2 Chapter 19-2 Bounty Head
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
Lifia spent this time practicing magic.
She was especially focused on training to improve the range and accuracy of her detection magic.
Since using attack magic is restricted throughout the town, she concentrated purely on support skills.
Meanwhile, Tifi continued her work at the Adventurer’s Guild, gathering information about the bounty target, Hasa.
According to her, the guards also seemed to have no leads on Hasa’s whereabouts.
As for me, I was training with my sword, recalling Hasa’s movements from that day.
If I could replicate those quick movements, my combat ability would greatly improve.
Even if replication is impossible, finding a way to defend against that attack could increase my survival chances.
And at night, we rested in the Love Hotel.
I made love with Lifia and Tifi, spending lewd moments together.
Three days passed, but no new information about Hasa in the dungeon came up.
There were no sightings or reports of damage at all.
However, I heard reports that several adventurer parties hadn’t returned from the dungeon.
It was unclear if that was Hasa’s doing, but getting lost in the dungeon was normal.
On the other hand, low-rank adventurers gradually started to resume their explorations.
Many of them relied on dungeon exploration to make a living, so a long break was hard on them financially.
Adventurers who returned from the first and second floors reported no damage from the bounty target.
Is he still in the dungeon?
Is he alive or dead?
It’s unlikely he escaped unnoticed.
The guards are firmly securing the exits.
I decided to dive back into the dungeon again.
If I do nothing, I won’t grow.
My combat instincts might dull as well.
”Be careful, okay…”
”Don’t worry, if things go south, I’ll hide in the Love Hotel right away.”
Tifi watched me with a worried expression as I left.
With that, we stepped into the second floor of the dungeon, the Misty Forest.
The Misty Forest was still shrouded in a creepy silence.
Dim fog drifting between the trees blocked our view, creating an anxious atmosphere throughout the forest.
We advanced cautiously, watching our surroundings carefully.
Lifia’s detection magic made sure there was no sign of Hasa nearby, but I still couldn’t feel relaxed.
Here, a moment of carelessness could cost lives.
”Master, where will we go today?”
Lifia asked with a bit of nervousness.
”We’ll move carefully. We’ll look for the path to the third floor and level up. Plus, I want to test the accuracy of your detection magic, Lifia.”
”Understood!”
We walked through the misty forest.
And then Lifia sensed a monster.
”There they are. Multiple animal-type, probably Ghost Tails.”
Ghost Tail, a wolf-type monster.
Its fur is white, but the tail hairs are black.
The white body hides in the mist, so from a distance, only the black tail can be seen, which is why it’s called a Ghost Tail.
”There are 5 of them, and they don’t seem to have noticed us yet.”
Lifia calmly reported the situation.
Being wolves, they likely have excellent smell and hearing.
Still, Lifia’s detection magic got the jump on them.
And this was in a mist that could interfere with magic.
I felt happy about her growth and progress.
Five of them, that’s a bit much.
But I do want to experience combat with multiple enemies.
Practicing in such situations is essential for our growth as adventurers.
We work together, but each one isn’t as strong as a Sword Deer.
I remembered Tifi saying that.
If that’s the case, then it’s worth it.
”Alright, let’s give it a shot.”
”Yes!”
Lifia was full of determination.
As we got closer, the wolves seemed to notice us too.
”The enemies have split up. Three in front, one on each side trying to flank us.”
I see.
They plan to ambush us from the sides while we fight in front.
”Alright, aim for the front for the first strike. I’ll hold back the ones coming from the side.”
”Got it!”
In the mist, something black swayed into view.
The wolf’s tail.
So, that is the Ghost Tail.
I can understand how someone who didn’t know would think it was a ghost or something.
”Mooluum, Ex-Dux!”
Lifia shot an arrow infused with elemental power.
”Air Sense, Air Impetus!”
She cast magic without hesitation.
A scream echoed from beyond the fog.
”Gyaaan!”
It seems she hit her target.
”Coming from the right!”
The moment Lifia warned me, a white wolf leaped out from the mist.
”Bring it on!”
It jumped and tried to bite.
But maybe it was surprised that I noticed, so it moved with some panic.
I calmly readied my sword and swung it down.
The wolf couldn’t dodge in mid-air and took the full force of my blow.
Then it fell to the ground.
”Coming from the left!”
Lifia shouted while continuing to fire arrows and magic.
”Alright!”
I decided to intercept the wolf that charged from the left with a quick strike.
The wolf moved fast, but I handled each attack one by one.
Thanks to Lifia’s support, I could focus on my enemy.
The second wolf also took my sword and fell down.
What happened in front?
When I looked, Lifia had already lowered her bow.
”I took down 2 in front, but the last one got away. I’m sorry…”
”You held off 3 and took down 2. That’s enough. Thanks to you, I could fight without worry. I appreciate it, Lifia.”
”Oh, hee hee.”
When I patted her head, Lifia gave a silly smile.
So cute.
At that moment, I felt a warm sensation rising from inside me.
This is level up.

”Alright!”
When I opened the menu, I saw my level had indeed increased.
”Congratulations, Master!”
”Thanks, Lifia.”
Sharing our joy, we moved to collect the dropped items.
The ghost tail we hunted is valuable as material for sale.
I grabbed the wolf’s black tail.
The feeling in my hand was unexpectedly hard.
It was heavy and firm like steel, with a strange texture.
The tail, which had been so soft and swaying during the fight, was now a solid chunk.
When I tugged lightly, it came out with a “pop.”
There was no blood.
With this, I wouldn’t have to worry about messing up the Love Hotel room.
It’s definitely helpful that it’s easy to clean.
It seems Tifi did some research on “parts that are easy to dismantle” beforehand.
This kind of careful consideration is truly appreciated.
By the way, it seems the body’s fur can also be sold, but it needs to be handled properly.
I can’t do it, so as usual, I’ve decided to leave it be.
The most expensive part seems to be the tail, so there shouldn’t be any problem.
”Shall we take a little break?”
”Yeah, sure.”
The battle earlier was something that tested not just our bodies but our spirits as well.
We’re going to take a break in a Love Hotel room for now.
We’ve gained experience and even leveled up.
We’re definitely getting stronger.
We won’t lose to any battles that might await us in the future.
With those thoughts in mind, we entered the Love Hotel.
