Volume 2 Chapter 19 Bounty Head

After that, we hid inside the Love Hotel for a while.
Because there’s still a chance that that dangerous person is lurking nearby, I didn’t feel safe going outside.
We waited carefully for about half a day, then finally headed back.
I had Lifia scan and confirm that the man wasn’t nearby before we left the Love Hotel.
Even so, the tension continued.
I kept worrying about when that man might suddenly appear from the fog.
When we passed through the first floor, I felt an odd, uncomfortable vibe.
The adventurers were nowhere to be seen.
Usually, there should be lots of adventurers hunting skeletons here and there.
But today, not a single one could be seen.
Is that gray-haired man involved?
I have no proof, but I have that feeling.
I really don’t want to think he killed all the adventurers on the way here…
At last, Lifia and I reached the dungeon’s exit and basked in the sunlight.
Coming out from the gloomy atmosphere of the dungeon, I finally felt relief.
We hadn’t fought much, but I felt strangely exhausted mentally.
Because we were tense the whole time.
Still, the outside world looked totally different from usual.
Firstly, there were a lot more soldiers than usual.
And every soldier looked nervous, frequently glancing around.
There were also several officials who didn’t usually appear.
Their gear and attitude──are they troops?
Soldiers with higher authority than normal soldiers.
I’ve heard they’re involved in maintaining order and investigating crimes.
This strange, tense atmosphere…
I suspect it’s all because of that gray-haired man.
Who exactly is he?
”Lifia, whatever they ask about Fang of Lead or the gray-haired man, just pretend you don’t know anything.”
”Yes.”
I confirmed again with Lifia.
To explain why we were watching that man, I’d have to describe the Love Hotel, but…
I can’t reveal such secrets.
Just as we tried to walk through the gate while being cautious, sure enough, one of the soldiers called out to us.
”Hey you, I want to talk.”
”What is it?”
I turned around a little nervous and saw the soldier giving us a sharp look.
”Did you see any suspicious men inside the dungeon? Features──”
The features he asked about definitely match the gray-haired man.
I made my voice calm and chose my words carefully to answer.
”I’m sorry. I don’t know. I was avoiding other adventurers while moving in the second floor.”
The second floor of the dungeon is hard to see through.
Considering that avoiding contact with other adventurers is a common way to prevent trouble, my answer is not strange.
It seemed the guard quickly accepted my explanation.
”I see. Then you can go.”
After being released safely, we left the place without any issues.
The identity and purpose of the gray-haired man are still unclear, but he is definitely causing a big stir.

When I stepped into the adventurer’s guild, a tense atmosphere filled the air, different from usual.
The staff moved around in a hurry, and the adventurers had a somewhat fierce look on their faces.
It was an unusual vibe, unlike the usual noise.
”Mr. Taro!”
Tifi ran over as soon as she spotted me.
”Are you okay?”
”Yeah, what happened?”
”This.”
Tifi handed me a piece of paper she was holding.
”A bounty?”
”Yes.”
’Dead or alive
Hasa Fisco
Bounty: 10 million Aurum’
There was a sketch of the gray-haired man I had just seen.
It was a wanted poster.
”The details of the charges are unclear, but there have been many sightings of this person since yesterday.”
”Did he escape into the dungeon?”
”Yes, it seems he killed the guard to get in.”
So he really is a dangerous person.
The dungeon is a dangerous area where monsters roam, but on the flip side, if you have the strength, it’s a perfect place to hide.
Given this situation, that man’s ferocity and strength might be even more than the rumors say.
”I’m glad you and Mr. Taro are safe. You didn’t run into him, right?”
”About that…”
I silently sent a glance.
This is not something we can talk about here.
Tifi seemed to catch my meaning, and her expression tightened as she said,
”Uh, no way… Please come this way.”
Prompted by her, we moved to a private room in the back.
Once the door closed and the eyes around us were gone, the tension eased a bit.
”So, what happened?”
Tifi’s eyes shook with worry and tension.
I took a short breath and explained the situation clearly.
We were attacked by the Fang of Lead in the second floor of the dungeon.
During the fight, Lifia sensed danger and took shelter in the Love Hotel while watching the gray-haired man defeat the Fang of Lead.
Tifi listened carefully to my words, but I noticed her shoulders shaking slightly after a while.
Then, the moment I finished speaking, she jumped into my arms and hugged me tightly.
”Oh, I’m so glad… that Mr. Taro and everyone are safe…”
Her voice was full of deep relief.
I gently placed my hand on her back and hugged her back lightly.
”It’s okay. With my skills, there’s no danger. Plus, Lifia also did her best.”
”Hehe, that’s true.”
Tifi smiled a little and reluctantly pulled away from me.
Then, she seemed to collect herself and started to talk again.
”Did you inform the military about that?”
”I haven’t said anything. I can’t explain about the Love Hotel.”
”I see, that’s probably for the best.”
Tifi nodded seriously and then told me why there were no adventurers on the first floor.
”There have been no reports of low-rank adventurers getting harmed on the first floor. But it is known that a dangerous person entered the dungeon, so adventurers are avoiding exploration. However, if they encounter any mid-rank or high-rank adventurers currently exploring the dungeon, we don’t know what will happen…”
It seemed the rumors about the man named Hasa’s abnormality and strength were already spreading among the adventurers.
”The guild is also gathering information about his abilities. Right now, it’s believed that low-rank adventurers can’t compete, and even mid-rank adventurers are considered at risk. Therefore, the guild is advising adventurers to avoid contact with him.”
I could feel the guild’s intention to avoid unnecessary victims.
”What will you do, Mr. Taro? I think it’s better to hold off on adventures for a while.”
”Yeah…”
I crossed my arms and thought.
I didn’t really know how big of a threat Hasa was in the dungeon.
I just didn’t want to get caught up in his actions.
”I’ll try to be quiet for a while. I really don’t want to enter the Dungeon right now.”
Tifi smiled, looking relieved.
”That’s better. It’s most important that Mr. Taro stays safe.”
Her words gave me some comfort, but the worry inside me didn’t go away completely.
I thought again about the gray-haired man, Hasa.

So we decided to take a break from exploring the Dungeon for a while.
