Volume 2 Chapter 18-2 The Madman in the Fog

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

In the safe Love Hotel room, I click the External Information from the menu.

 I check with Lifia together.

The slim man runs up to where the door was just a moment ago.

’You bastard! Where did you vanish to!’

 ’I don’t know. I can’t even sense them!’

’They were right here just a moment ago!’

Then, a third adventurer with a bow appears.

He is holding his wounded shoulder.

It looks like the arrow hit his shoulder.

 ’Zuck, pass me a potion.’

’Tch, you’re just always in the way.’

The 3 start to search around while staying alert.

 ’They shouldn’t have gone far.’

’Maybe they’ve got a magic tool that makes them disappear. If that’s the case, they should still be nearby.’

 ’Damn it…’

Watching them through the monitor, I clenched my fists.

The combination of arrows, magic, and the chili powder blinding them… we showed some of our tricks.

Anxiety and impatience slowly creep into my chest.

And then, what exactly did Lifia mean by ‘It’s dangerous’?

 ”Lifia, what did you detect?”

”It’s a very dangerous mental one. They’re coming toward us. They’re hunting multiple monsters along the way… in an instant…”

 There’s trembling in Lifia’s voice.

She can sense a person’s personality with Spirit Magic.

 The opponent Lifia calls “dangerous”

 ”Is it a human?”

 ”Yes, but not normal…”

If someone can hunt monsters in this second floor of the dungeon in an instant, they must be a very skilled adventurer.

And if that person has a dangerous mind, it’s truly frightening.

They might be much more dangerous than Fang of Lead, who’s aiming at us.

We can only wait and see for a while.

The 3 members of Fang of Lead are still searching around.

Then, a man appears from the mist.

 ’Hello!’

The man greets Fang of Lead cheerfully.

 He looks… pretty ordinary.

With gray hair and a slim body, he wears polished leather armor.

Unlike most adventurers, he seems clean and gives an air of elegance.

But that just makes him strange.

He walks through this monster-infested dungeon as if he’s just taking a stroll.

Rather than being scared of the 3 men from Fang of Lead, he speaks to them friendly.

 Could he be an acquaintance?

If he’s with Fang of Lead, that’s bad news; they’re tough opponents.

 ’What nice weather!’

 ’Huh…?’

One of the Fang of Lead crew frowned and repeated his words.

There’s no way it’s nice weather.

This level of the dungeon is shrouded in mist.

 ’What’s up with this guy?’

It seems he’s not an acquaintance after all.

Even so, it’s strange to talk cheerfully in this situation.

Normal people wouldn’t approach rough types like Fang of Lead.

A strange unease spreads deep in my chest.

The person Lifia said was “dangerous” is definitely this man in front of me.

I quietly asked while watching the man’s movements through the monitor.

 ”Lifia, who is this man…?”

”He’s weird. I’ve never felt a mental status like his.”

 My unease grows stronger.

It feels like the mist is tightening around my heart.

I keep watching outside, holding my breath.

’What were you doing? I sensed a fun atmosphere and came over!’

The man approaches Fang of Lead with an innocent smile.

 ’Whatever, die!’

One of Fang of Lead, a man called Zuck, grumpily spat out and drew his sword.

He then swung his sword at the gray-haired man.

The next moment, Zuck’s head was flying through the air.

 ’Huh?’

A silly voice and bright red blood danced in the air.

Then, Zuck’s body crumpled to the ground.

 What just happened?

I couldn’t understand it; it happened in an instant.

The gray-haired man held a drawn sword.

Did he draw his sword and cut off the head in an instant?

’That’s dangerous, you know? Swinging your sword out of nowhere!’

 ’Huh, Zuck? Why?’

The short, stocky man stood there dumbfounded.

 The archer shouted.

’You! How dare you take down Zuck!’

Then, I pulled out the knife and charged at the gray-haired man.

In the next moment, the hand holding the knife was cut off.

 ’Gyaaaaaah!?’

The archer was holding his severed wrist.

 ’You’re so noisy.’

The gray-haired man decapitated the archer without a moment’s hesitation.

There was no pause at all.

 ’H-hiiiii!?’

The fat man started to run away.

’Hey? Where are you going? You know, when a carnivore sees prey run, it just wants to chase, right?’

The gray-haired man picked up the fallen knife and threw it at the fleeing man.

 ’Agh…’

The thrown knife pierced the back of his head.

The fat man fell forward, still running, and stopped moving.

’Ah… I couldn’t even ask what you were doing in the end.’

The man muttered as if he just remembered.

His voice had no tension or guilt at all.

It was just a casual tone, like he was changing the subject on a whim.

’Well, that’s fine. Shall we go?’

With those words, the man walked away lightly and disappeared into the mist.

We gasped and were left speechless.

One man had taken down 3 members of Fang of Lead in an instant.

And he had done it by cutting off their heads in a flash.

 ”Master…”

Lifia’s trembling voice reached my ears.

Her eyes were mixed with fear and surprise.

 What was that man?

I couldn’t see his sword movements at all.

Cold sweat was running down my back.
