Give-Cheat v2c4

Volume 2 Chapter 4 Arrogant Hero VS Misfortune Hero

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Lately, a fox has taken to meeting me at the village entrance each morning.

At first, the villagers were baffled—but seeing the fox trail behind me with such bold confidence, they quickly stopped questioning it.

The village kids are obsessed with trying to touch it, but the fox vanishes in a blink.

It may look cute, but it’s still a wild monster—not something you can treat like a pet.

 Another day, another quail hunt.

 Or so I thought.

As I cross through the village gate, ready for another routine hunt, I spot a peculiar stranger undergoing inspection.

Their clothes mimic the style of a villager, but the rare black hair and flat face are a dead giveaway—they’re probably a summoned Hero.

Might be around my age, maybe a bit younger.

Cute, round face… but something in their eyes twists my gut.

They’re holding a dagger—cheap, dull, and still stained with blood. Not the kind of person I’d want to run into in a dark alley.

Just as I step outside the gate, the fox bursts from the tall grass like clockwork—faithful as Hachiko.

”Nice to see you again today!”

Before I can even finish the sentence, arrows of light rip through its body. One. Two. Three. More.

I can only watch, frozen, as its HP hits zero and its body explodes into shimmering particles.

No warning. No time to react.

 Just… gone.

”What the heck, no item drop?”

 That bastard’s grinning.

It was a low-tier spell—magic arrows, cast by a Novice. Weak on their own, but five at once? That’ll kill most things.

He must’ve fired them in a chain. Efficient. Ruthless.

He’s strong. If we fought fair and square, I wouldn’t last a minute.

But the fox—he didn’t have to kill the fox.

I feel the fury climbing up my throat, but I choke it back.

Panic in a crisis is a death sentence.

 What now?

”Hey, did I do something wrong? I mean, it’s first come, first served out here, right? I didn’t even touch you—why’re you acting all salty? Chill.”

So that’s how he sees it. Just a random monster in the field.

Never mind that it followed me like a friend. Never mind it trusted humans.

 ”…It was my friend.”

The words barely come out. My throat tightens.

He was a good one. Really was.

”What a pathetic bluff. I know for a fact there’s no Tamer class in this game.”

 In this game.

That’s how he sees the world—just a sandbox for his entertainment.

And now this strange numbness creeps in—like a crack opening up between us.

A huge, silent chasm in temperature. I feel cold. He’s grinning like it’s recess.

He’s the type who’d kill someone over a bad joke.

 Squashing bugs, burning ants—same energy.

And sadly, a lot of summon heroes are just like him. They treat this place like a PvP arena with no consequences.

Even if someone dies, it’s usually just a slap on the wrist from the Hero Management Bureau.

As long as they’re useful pieces on the board, no one cares.

”You’ve got the look of a good little lackey.”

He leans in close, face twisting into a sneer.

”My name’s Alexander. From now on, call me Sir Alex and swear loyalty. Disobey me, and I’ll kill you.”

Cocky doesn’t even begin to cover it.

 Swear loyalty? Really?

I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve, sure—but I’ve never seen him fight properly.

Is he a mage? But then… what’s with the dagger?

”So this is a declaration of war?”

 Fine by me.

Even if I lose, I’ll go down fighting—for the fox.

But the moment I square my shoulders and push back, his smirk cracks.

”J-just kidding! I was testing you. Looking for a brave one to join my team. Congrats—you passed, brave guy.”

 …What?

 Is he bluffing again?

Or maybe he’s just a coward wrapped in bravado?

Still, I can’t afford to relax. Cowards are the scariest when they snap.

”No need for violence. Let’s talk things over at the guild, yeah? I’ll even let you lead the way.”

The guild’s neutral ground. No one’s stupid enough to start something in there.

And honestly, it works out for me too.

* * *

”Hmph. This one’s a real beauty, isn’t she? Is she the one tending to you?”

Alex eyes Ms. Nina with a gross smirk, licking his lips like a dog sizing up meat.

The fake civility is gone now—he’s dropped the scared act completely.

Even her brief, polite warmth toward me seems to irritate him.

And now he’s veering into lewd territory, like we’re not even here.

Ms. Nina’s smile is strained. Her discomfort’s plain as day.

But Alex talks on, oblivious—or pretending to be.

”Doll Princesses break after three days. Too fragile. I’m done with mine in a week, tops.”

He’s not wrong that they start becoming burdensome around level 8.

If you rush through dungeon runs, you can hit level 15 in under a week.

”These things are just surveillance bots for the Bureau anyway. Better off without them.”

True—Doll Princesses are here to watch over Heroes.

But that’s exactly why his arrogance sets off alarms.

”Wouldn’t we get in trouble if your Doll Princess is gone?”

”We’ll be fine. It’s been three days already—no issues.”

 So that’s his timeline.

Ten days total. Seven to power-level, three to ditch the Doll.

And with travel and battle time, his skill growth must be shallow.

 No time to refine techniques.

No time to build original moves.

If I’ve got any shot at beating him…

 It’s there.

Not a fan of seeing this guy this soon. Hopefully he’s dealt with fast before he does anything too horrible.
