Volume 2 Chapter 11 Bazaar
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
I got a compensation payment with Mr. Laken from the Legal Affairs Bureau.
I got one million gold, but Mr. Laken didn’t tell me how much he got.
I think it’s about the same.
According to Ms. Floria, all these costs will eventually be collected from Alex.
She said if there’s no money, you might have to sell your soul to the devil.
I don’t know if that’s a metaphor or if there really is a devil, but it seems you can’t easily get a death sentence.
If it weren’t for Ms. Nina’s quick thinking, I might have been in the opposite situation.
That thought sends chills down my spine.
Mr. Laken, now with some money, invited me to check out the bazaar in the royal capital.
It’s dangerous there, and since women are often bothered, Ms. Nina stayed behind.
But that was an excuse; Mr. Laken really wanted to go shopping with just me, a guy.
”What the heck are these guys!!”
It’s no wonder Mr. Laken was surprised.
Three armored warriors dressed in black followed behind me.
The weight of their fluttering black cloaks was intense.
Inside the armor was an antfolk.
Ms. Hóa said she would give me one, but I can’t just take a person like that.
For now, I’m borrowing them as a trial during my time in the royal capital.
The biggest among them is Ms. Ant.
She didn’t has names, so I gave her a simple one.
She’s over 2 meters tall in armor and is a level 20 ant soldier.
She carries a huge battle axe on her back and holds a large round shield with bumps in her left hand.
She also hides several throwing axes under her shield and at her waist.
Ms. Ant is a seasoned warrior and can apparently take down something like a sub-dragon by herself.
Ms. Hóa’s favorite secret treasure, they say.
The other one, Ms. Aqua who is about my height, is a level 13 ant scout.
In other words, a ninja-type.
I want to name her Ms. Red because her shell was the color of a red beetle, but since it was hard to say, Ms. Nina started calling her Aqua, and that name stuck.
She is good at searching and stealth, just like me, but she’s as quick as a ninja and a top warrior.
With her around, I could easily twist someone like Alex.
Her fighting style uses a one-handed scimitar and a sword-breaker, but she also excels in a dance with 2 scimitars as a party trick.
The smallest, Ann, is about 150 cm tall.
Level 7 Ant Soldier.
She is good at construction and carpentry.
My carpentry skills seem a bit better, but when it comes to strength, she wins hands down.
She is strong yet good at delicate work, and Ms. Hóa has asked her to teach cooking to him.
Her fighting style is a typical one using a slim one-handed sword and a small round shield, but she is currently training in 2-sword techniques with Aqua’s guidance.
The armor they wear is made of black leather with a special design that serves as armor and also helps disguise them as humans.
Ms. Aqua and Ms. Ann can remove parts of their armor, like the breastplate and mask, and wear wigs to transform into knightesses.
This is necessary because there are places that only female knights can enter when protecting Ms. Hóa in official settings.
”Ms. Nina is always saying I need to bring guards…”
I make excuses to Mr. Laken, who is frozen while looking at the 3 black figures.
”Also, it’s your fault for saying the area is dangerous, Mr. Laken!”
”Sure, but it’s hard to get into some places when you’re with a girl!”
Mr. Laken seems like a naughty old man; his granddaughter Ani-Ani would cry if she knew.
”Well, with these guys, I don’t think we have to worry about thugs. They could probably take down a dragon!”
”Oh, they say even with 3, it’s impossible.”
”Of course, that’s just a joke! Even with levels over 50, 3 people against a dragon is tough. Let’s hurry up!”
Actually, Ms. Ant and Ms. Aqua are dragon slayers, but it seems better not to say it.
They apparently beat up a young dragon that settled near the elf village about 3 years ago.
Ms. Hóa used magic to stop the dragon, and then hundreds of antfolk overwhelmed it with their strength in numbers.
I wonder if Ms. Hóa and the antfolk are the strongest fighters in the royal capital?
* * *
Anyway, the old west gate area of the royal capital is the center of the bazaar.
On the main street, there are open-air stalls with rare foreign goods.
There are many food stands, and a crowd has formed around the street performers.
It has the lively atmosphere of a festival, but of course, this place has many pickpockets too.
There was a guy who tried to steal my wallet, but when Ms. Aqua threw a skewer of grilled meat at him, he dropped the wallet and ran away.
I heard that Ms. Aqua aimed right for the tendons in his fingers and cut them.
There was hardly any blood, but for a pickpocket, that must be deadly.
I’ll reward Ms. Aqua by buying her as many skewers as she wants.
I heard antfolk eat anything, but they really seem to love meat.
Mr. Laken, even though he’s old, is still sharp; he moves ahead without being targeted by pickpockets.
It’s a struggle to catch up while munching on snacks.
As we move forward, the atmosphere around us gradually becomes more lascivious.
From the large tent-like shops lined up, women in revealing and flashy outfits send flirting glances to passing men.
In this world, humans have deep facial features, so even with thick makeup, they look like exotic beauties.
Well, this area is probably a red-light district.
Mr. Laken ignores the women trying to attract customers and keeps moving forward.
We arrived at the slave market.
