Those soldiers saw my swollen belly and, for some reason, got the wrong idea. Their spirits soared, and they started slaying the goblin parasites one after another.
”W-wait, this is…”
”Ahh, everyone’s completely misunderstood, huh?”
My attendant, Marina, gave me a sharp-eyed look.
I didn’t mean for this to happen… What should I do… I’ll just blame Lord Kent for this… That sounds good…
”Lady Charlotte is pregnant!! To raise a strong child, we offer these monsters as a tribute!!”
The female messengers, who knew the truth, also shot me sharp looks as they watched my face.
Ah, the gaze hurts… Lord Kent… What kind of sinful thing have you done…
”Tell the soldiers and officers on the front lines to stay calm and fight properly. I won’t permit reckless battles. The southern campaign has just begun. We cannot afford to lose soldiers here.”
The messenger nodded at my orders and ran off to the front lines.
”You might really be pregnant. You’ve been, um… well, let’s just say there’s been plenty of that, and it’s been hours, and you still can’t absorb it all…”
Marina came over and offered words of comfort. If what she said were true, there’s nothing that would make me happier.
If I weren’t a succubus, maybe I would be pregnant…

I gently placed my hand on my belly, imagining for just a moment a future that could never be.
Eventually, most of the goblin parasites hiding in the village were killed. The only ones left were a small number in the center of the village and the massive union goblin monster.
There were heavy injuries, but thanks to the military healer Lord Kent sent, there were no fatalities. Now, we’re weakening them from a distance with bow units.
”The union goblin is already near death. Extract the best soldiers from each squad and form a strike team.”
”Yeah!”
Immediately, the best soldiers from each squad were gathered, forming a strike team. They began attacking the weakening union goblin. Though I’m confident in my sword skills, as a commander, I couldn’t risk cutting in alongside the soldiers, so I decided to focus on giving orders this time.
The Union Goblin swung its log-like arms, trying to knock down the soldiers gathered at its feet, but the skilled team easily dodged, piling on the damage to the Union Goblin.
”We’re almost done with the hunt. Those who are free, get ready to burn the village to stop it from becoming a monster’s home again. Don’t forget to collect the drops. Gather the goblin corpses in one place and burn them. Move quickly, everyone.”
As combat was about to end, instructions were given to those with free time to start clean-up right away.
Meanwhile, the assault team finally took down the Union Goblin.
”Wooooo!! We got it!! This is for Lady Charlotte’s child!”
The soldier who struck it down held up a red, fist-sized creature that looked different from other parasite monsters.
This was likely the creature that had controlled the Union Goblin.
After a moment, the monster vanished, leaving behind the drop item [Control Slime] on the ground.
After the hunt, they set fire to the village and burned the gathered goblin corpses.
The result of the battle was almost flawless, with only seriously injured and lightly injured──truly a complete victory.
Then, after a short break, they decided to head to the next monster nest.
However, it was troubling that I still had not absorbed the s*men Lord Kent injected, remaining with a pregnant belly, and the soldiers were misunderstanding the situation.

*Kondrad’s Perspective
Finally, the southern expedition began, and they set foot into the Southern Region, moving steadily.
The Monster Hunters already gathered at Godard village had hunted down the nearby monsters, making their current location as safe as a developing village.
Thus, only a few monsters appeared, with only D-rank monsters showing up.
”Sir Kondrad… we’re about to leave the safe area. Stay alert.”
Alphonse, acting as the strategist, comes holding a map and warns us.
He based this warning on what he learned from the scouts and info gathering before.
”Got it. Send a messenger to tell them to get ready to fight now. Have Ane’s cavalry do a sweep on the west.”
Since Alphonse said we’re entering a place where monsters aren’t hunted much, I tell the messenger to get everyone into ready combat mode──to keep everyone on edge.
Long marches are tiring, but if nothing happens, tension drops.
Better to tighten up now.
At the same time, I send Ane running west to find monster nests along the town and street roads.
”Lady Ane, you want to scout instead of me?”
”Yeah, if I keep up with the main force, I’ll get stressed and irritated. Need to make her run just enough.”
Even as my daughter, Ane seems born with a natural troop spirit.
Sitting still is torture for her, she’d rather run all day.
Recently, Austronesia, who was recommended by Lord Kent and made commander of the heavy cavalry, is said to have even stronger cavalry blood.
”Then just like Charlotte, have her lead ahead, destroy any monster nests on the west.”
The scout team reported no nests on the west, but the southern region changes day by day.
It wouldn’t be weird if new ones popped up there.
The messenger rushes on horseback to deliver my orders.
”Alphonse… will this southern invasion succeed?”
”What are you being so cowardly about… after the big attack, we drove back many monsters, and thanks to the monster hunting mess in Godard village, the number of monsters in the Southern Region has dropped a lot. Sir Kent’s plan is really good. If we can make Nirei River into a second big defensive wall, the Margrave South District’s country can become super strong. I also think this is the only chance we got.”
Alphonse was right, if we’re talking about the deep Southern Region around Felward, maybe, but north of the Nirei River, monsters are already disappearing fast, and we knew this was a good time to kill.
But I saw in the history books how last time’s big attack was also debated, and they went out on the raid but it all failed, so I was a little worried.
”The middle part is our military’s hunting zone. We’ve been ordered by Chancellor Lila to produce lots of hunting results, so Sir Kondrad better not chicken out.”
Alphonse sighs when he looks at my face.
”I-I understand. Nobody’s scared or nothing!”
”And right now, the top priority is building the fortress at Nirei Bridge.”
Alphonse pushes up his glasses with his middle finger, gets serious.
I’ve known him long enough to know he does that only when he’s nervous or hiding his anxiety.
I think he’s just as worried as me about finishing this huge plan.
”I know that too. We can’t let the light infantry get attacked by monsters.”
I grip the reins tight and start running toward finishing the plan.
~New character~
Mariana, Wolf girl of the Garuda Clan, serves Charlotte as her assistant.
She has a keen nose, and during the Kingdom army days, she figured out Charlotte was a woman and was forced to be her assistant to keep secrets.
Now she’s joined the Church of Kent, became a priest, and dreams of going to sleep in Kent’s bed.
~New monster~
The monster’s name: union goblin & goblin parasite, rank C to A, type: ghost insect clan, features: looks like just a regular monster goblin but they all bunch together and act like one giant.
The more goblins that make up its big body, the higher the rank gets, up to A in the biggest ones.
Its true form is a tiny parasite──a monster no bigger than a pinkie finger──that controls the goblin monsters.
