Volume 13 Chapter 2 The Southern Expedition Begins

The southern campaign is led by the military, with the central unit leading the charge.
Already, an army of ten thousand is stationed near Godard Village.
Members of Monster Hunting and Black Wing are also gathering one after another, and Godard Village is bustling with activity.
Godard Village is rapidly expanding in size to serve as the main supply point for this southern campaign, digging new moats and growing beyond its original borders.
”Godard is developing so quickly…”
”According to reports, the number of settlers has exceeded a thousand… Thanks to Monster Hunting, the monster hunting has progressed rapidly, and the danger level has significantly dropped.”
Accompanying the inspection of Godard Village was Akves.
A former village head and the first settler, he seemed quite pleased with the area’s development, his smile overflowing.
”This place is planned to become a key transportation hub, supporting the southern campaign. If the campaign ends successfully, I intend to gift this land to Fristoph. It seems he’s about to become a father, and he’s become a noble too.”
Akves’s face tightens as he hears my words, becoming serious.
”Lord… Does this mean the Godard Clan is being told to settle here? Fristoph is being considered for the next clan leader.”
”Anyone who wants to live here can. I won’t force anyone. And Akves, you can’t retire and live here until Reinhardt becomes a decent person.”
Akves presses his forehead and breaks down crying.
”Oh, Lord!!! You are the savior of our Godard Clan!!! For this southern campaign, I will bring results that live up to your kindness!!!”
”Akves!!! Stand up!!! I feel like I’m giving Akves another impossible task and troubling him!!!”
The soldiers around us were whispering and glancing over here, talking secretly.
Since it’s a known fact that I often give Akves’s training corps impossible tasks, the soldiers’ gaze was painful.
”Oh, I’m so sorry! I got too excited…”
”Good, but don’t push yourself too hard. Dying is not an option. You gotta show the new recruits how to fight tough and retreat bravely. They need a good example.”
”Haha! I’ve made it clear to the soldiers. They know to survive and get the pay and rewards from the Lord. Of course, while they’re slaying monsters too.”
Akves laughed heartily.
He seemed to be really getting the soldiers to understand his intentions.
The training, which was mostly monster hunting, didn’t have many deaths, but it wasn’t 0 either.
To avoid the mistakes of the old Kingdom army, which wasted human resources, Akves had to educate the new recruits even more…
”I’m counting on you. Is the army launching the operation tomorrow?”
”Yes, we’ll be implementing the Lord’s outlandish plan. Lord Kondrad was also interested, and he said it’s a reasonable method considering the dangers of the Southern Region.”
Akves’s plan was to march with armored carriages to the Nirei River Bridge on Felward Town and build a fortress there.
If the operation succeeded, it would make supplying the central campaign easier and also increase the supply to Felward Fortress.
”Charlotte’s gonna help out as a mobile unit too.”
”With her, we can keep a safe distance from the main force while she hunts down monster nests near the town.”
Akves seemed impressed with Charlotte’s leadership.
She was good at understanding the abilities of her soldiers and officers and placing them right, and her judgment was excellent for flexible command.
She can command about 2 thousand now, but with more experience, she might be able to handle ten thousand.
This time, assigning Charlotte to the mobile unit was to give her the field experience she lacks.
She’s going to get a lot of it in the southern campaign.
If I can just get some real battle experience, I can give up this shaky position as a guest commander and get promoted to General of the Margrave South District.
I’ve already gotten approvals from Kondrad and Garvey, and after the southern campaign, I’ll make her nephew the Lord of the new fortress by the Nirei River.
”It would be great if Akves could help Charlotte.”
”Yes, I understand. If Lady Charlotte were just a mistress of the lord, I would have declined, but I’m happy to help such a talented young man.”
”I see. Thank you, I look forward to it.”
With Akves’ cooperation secured, I decided to finish my inspection of Godard Village.

*Charlotte’s Perspective
”Hah… Lord Kent’s essence is leaking out…”
The operation was already underway, with Lord Kondrad leading the main force of 7,500, escorted by 1,000 supply troops.
Our vanguard of 2,500 was ahead, half a day in front of the main force.
So far, there were no monsters, but what worried me was the large amount of essence Lord Kent had poured into me before we left.
”Lady Charlotte… your belly is getting big. Could it be… no way, right?”
A young female soldier from the Garuda Clan, acting as my attendant, was trying not to laugh as she looked at my belly.
Because of the large amount Lord Kent left inside me, I couldn’t put on my armor and was stuck in a men’s officer uniform.
”…Marina. If you keep laughing, I’ll take you to Lord Kent’s bedroom too. I heard you recently acquired the [Priest] job.”
Marina’s face, who was holding my horse’s reins, changed.
”Re-really? Lady Charlotte!! You’re going to take me to Almighty Kent’s side!! Having a lewd boss is the best! I’d be happy to accompany you!!”
Marina happy!
She likes what I say.
She is very happy.
Tail wag wag.
I know her from Kingdom army.
She saw I was a girl in boy clothes.
I made her my helper so she shut up.
I am now a girl because of Lord Kent.
Marina likes it too.
She joined Church of Kent.
She is now a [Priest]!
”[Priest] must do Service for Lord Kent! If you don’t die in the south, I will take you!”
Marina smiles.
Drool comes out.
She is pretty.
Lord Kent likes Garuda Clan.
If I give Marina to Lord Kent, I will be liked more!
She wants it.
I must help her.
I am her boss.
”Lady Charlotte! See monster nest! It was there before. There are 4 hundred, 5 hundred goblin parasites! The boss is a C-rank Union Goblin!”
A messenger runs in.
I am talking with Marina.
We found the goblin village.
I tell the messenger what to do.
”Everyone! Get ready to fight! Kill them before they know! Marina, put on my armor!”
Messengers run to horses.
They tell everyone my words.
Marina helps me put on armor.
”Lady Charlotte… The belly part doesn’t fit…”
”No belly part! We don’t have time!”
I don’t wear the belly part.
My big belly is out.
But I still lead.

We go to village.
Fight is already going.
Small monsters are in the goblins.
If you cut off arms, they still move!
You must kill the monster inside!
”A troublesome enemy. The soldiers must fight together. There is no honor for warriors in this battle. The enemy is a monster. Just defeat it by any means.”
The soldiers’ eyes focus on my instructions.
Then something unexpected happened.
”Whoa!! Lady Charlotte is pregnant!! Long live the Rosenkreuz family!! Long live the Margrave South District!!”
The soldiers cheered with joy when they saw my exposed belly.
My army mostly consists of those who transferred from the Kingdom army with me and my private soldiers from the Rosenkreuz family, and they all supported me equally, creating a unity unmatched by other armies.
