Volume 4 Chapter 12 The Heroine Girl

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

On the 3rd floor of the dungeon, the ‘False Plain,’ the heroes were attacked by Hitchcock.

No, more like I was set up to be attacked.

We took refuge in a safe Love Hotel room and waited to see what would happen.

Outside, everything was a bright white, just like last time, making it impossible to see anything clearly.

In the middle of that, I explained everything to Tifi, who returned after finishing her work.

”I see… so it turned out like that after all.”

Tifi nodded as she listened to my story, looking somewhat satisfied.

There was no surprise or distress on her face.

She must have anticipated this outcome.

What happened to the heroes after that?

Being caught in that Hitchcock storm, they wouldn’t get away unscathed.

Sure enough, they were a bunch of useless scum.

In this world, they’re already treated as adults.

I have to take responsibility for my actions.

Yet, back in my original world, Japan, they’re still considered minors.

Tossed into another world, they gained power, became arrogant, and twisted.

 I trapped them like that.

 Wasn’t there another way?

I can’t completely shake that thought.

 ”Thank you.”

I’m thrown off by Tifi’s sudden words of gratitude.

 ”Huh? For what?”

”Mr. Taro did this for us, and for this child, right?”

 Tifi said, stroking her belly.

A small life, the fruit of our love, is growing inside her.

Tifi’s sunset-colored eyes were gazing straight at me.

”No matter what choice Mr. Taro makes, I know it’s for us. I’ll stay by Mr. Taro’s side, always.”

So, Tifi sees my actions and choices as being for them.

She says she will share my sins and burdens.

 ”Thank you, Tifi.”

 I pull her waist closer.

 ”I love you.”

 ”Yes… Mr. Taro.”

Then I embrace Tifi and press my lips against hers.

”I’ll follow Master too. No matter what path it is.”

Lifia sneaked close to me and hugged me, soft body pressing against mine.

”M-maybe I’ll follow Milord too, of course, yes!”

Lifia saw that my sides were already full with Kéa and, even a little flustered, she rushed from behind and hugged me tight.

Lifia and Kéa both looked at me with eyes full of certainty, saying clearly they pledge loyalty, like saying “I will always stay with you.”

They support me, approve of my choices, and say they’ll go along no matter what path I take.

”…Thanks. Having you guys here makes me feel strong.”

 I honestly expressed my gratitude.

 Lifia, Tifi, Kéa.

They’ve become my place to belong in this weird world.

I take a moment to really feel lucky to have them by my side.

 ”Ah… by the way, Tifi…”

 ”Yes?”

I have something important to warn Tifi about again.

”Because of what happened, I’m now totally against the heroes. In the future, they might come after you too.”

It’s easy to figure out what kind of relationship I have with Tifi just by looking.

The hero guys, holding a grudge, might storm her guild or something.

There’s no proof the heroes are dead yet.

If they are alive, they’re probably still in the dungeon.

But if they made it out alive, they’ll likely come back to the surface in a few days.

I stared into Tifi’s eyes and quietly said,

”It’d be best if you just quit… but…”

 Tifi is pregnant right now.

”Maybe it’s a little early, but you could go on maternity leave, I guess.”

Tifi hesitated a bit, like she was thinking about it.

But after a while, she shook her head no.

”Please let me work a little more.”

 ”Is that okay?”

”I want to keep an eye on the heroes’ movements, and I think it’s good for health to move around some, even while pregnant.”

 ”Is that so…”

 ”That’s just how it is.”

 Tifi smiled warmly.

”Got it. If you say so, I’ll trust you.”

If she says she’s okay, I’ll believe her too.

 But…

”But if the heroes or their allies come close,”

”Yes. I’ll run here immediately, then.”

 ”Yeah, that’s good.”

 Tifi nodded without hesitation.

Her reaction made me feel a bit relieved.

* * *

 And the next day.

What happened since then, I wonder?

The chaos of the Hitchcocks should have calmed down by now.

Before, I used Hitchcock when Hasa Fisco put a bounty on my head, sending them to attack him.

At that time, countless Hitchcock corpses littered the plains.

I wonder if things look the same this time.

I tapped on the External Information section from the menu.

The dungeon’s status appeared on the screen.

Sure enough, there were Hitchcock corpses scattered across the grasslands.

But it didn’t look as horrific as last time.

It was obvious there were fewer bodies compared to before.

Maybe it’s the difference in strength between Hasa and the heroes.

Or perhaps it was the difference between Hasa, who stood ready to fight, and the heroes, who were trying to flee.

Looking closely, the Hitchcock corpses seemed to be lined up in one direction.

They appeared to be moving toward the 2nd Floor, toward the dungeon’s exit.

The heroes must have fled, and the Hitchcocks chased after them.

”Alright, we’re going to check outside.”

I told Tifi this as I got ready to leave.

”Understood. I’ll head to work then.”

 Tifi answered with a smile.

 I hugged her tightly.

As I felt her warmth, I lingered in the embrace for a moment, sad to part.

 ”Okay, I’ll be off.”

 ”Yes. Take care.”

 Then we stepped outside cautiously.

The grasslands were filled with numerous Hitchcock corpses, but the heroes were nowhere to be seen.

I wonder what happened to the girl who acted as bait.

Well, she’s probably not alive anymore.

I don’t know what skills she had.

But there’s no way she could survive being attacked by that many Hitchcocks.

 ”Lifia, please.”

 ”Yes. Mooluumve, Ex…”

Lifia stopped as she was about to activate her detection magic.

 ”What’s wrong?”

She seemed to have sensed something, staring intently at one spot.

When I chase where that gaze was pointed, there was a big mound in the middle of the meadow.

 About 2 meters across, roughly.

The dirt was all piled up.

This ain’t somethin’ that just happens naturally here.

I’m sure it wasn’t here last time I came.

When the hell did that thing grow there?
