Chapter 109-2 Student Freedom Alliance Rally

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

I don’t really think just this will make me friends with Ijuuin-kun, but now I can talk to him anytime.

Even if it’s hard to talk face-to-face, he might open up in chat without feeling nervous.

That’s gotta be a pretty big step forward.

It’s still too early to spam him with messages, but I’ll send a quick greeting just once.

I fiddled with my smartphone and typed the message.

I wonder if Ijuuin-kun will reply.

As I waited, my heart racing, a response popped up about ten minutes later.

 GC: Tsuchimiya×Ijuuin

 Tsuchimiya:

Ijuuin-kun, nice to meet you from now on.

Are you dealing with anything or feeling troubled?

 Is Akiyama bothering you?

Is there anyone you can’t stand?

Is there someone you want to kill?

 Akiyama is a good target.

If you need anything, come talk to me.

I really want to help you, Ijuuin-kun.

 Ijuuin:

Thank you for your consideration, even for someone like me.

Thanks to you, Tsuchimiya-kun, nobody from Yamazaki’s crew is coming near me anymore, and I’m having peaceful days.

I’m not being bullied by Akiyama-kun either.

There’s nothing that requires your help.

So please, don’t worry about me.

 I’m really okay.

 Whoa!

 Ijuuin-kun sent a long reply!

As expected, Ijuuin-kun is a gentleman.

His writing is still a bit stiff, but it seems like a good response.

If we keep chatting little by little like this, our distance should close.

Lost in the satisfaction of a big accomplishment, I realized the meeting time was approaching.

When I returned to the hall, participants were starting to gather.

It’s about time to enter the venue.

I went to the meeting room and followed my classmate’s guidance to sit in the assigned seat.

Almost half of the seats were already filled, and the room was buzzing with chatter.

In the front row were the influential representatives I saw yesterday, and those sitting nearby were less than 2 meters away from me.

By the time it started, 70 neatly arranged chairs were filled, with students standing in the back.

The founding committee members sat down, and Higurashi took the seat next to me.

Akiyama stood in front of the whiteboard, announcing the start of the assembly.

”Let’s kick off the very first rally of the Student Freedom Alliance. It’s also an introduction meeting, so don’t worry if you declared participation yesterday or today. First, let me introduce the founder of the Student Freedom Alliance, the hero who stormed into the B-block boys’ dormitory and fought Kibakura, coming back unscathed. Everyone remembers the incident where he stopped Kibakura from attacking the Student Council and saved the Student Council president. He is the leader of ‘The Last Survivor’ and represents Class 2-D, Tsuchimiya Takeru!”

When Akiyama called my name, loud cheers erupted.

 Me!?

I’m not a founder or class representative!

”Stop looking around. Just stand up and bow,”

Higurashi whispered in a small voice.

I stood up with a blank expression, bowing my head as applause thundered, then sat back down.

I seriously want this to end.

I want to go home already.

Akiyama continued introducing Higurashi, the chairperson, and others, finally doing his own self-introduction.

”I’m tired. Is this what work feels like? Can I go home now?”

 ”No way. Just sit still,”

 Higurashi said mercilessly.

Akiyama started dramatically embellishing the story of how I decided to start the Student Freedom Alliance, with about 90% of it being exaggerated.

Somehow, I’m being portrayed as Akiyama’s best friend and a passionate guy.

I never wanted to start something like this in the first place.

 What is this humiliation play?

I want to go home right now.

I also want to blast Akiyama with a lightning bolt.

”How did it come to this…”

”Now you can shake off that image of being a villain, right? This is the perfect solution,”

In the end, I’m just being put on display!

Damn, have I made a deal with the devil?

Akiyama finally wrapped up his long speech, and then Higurashi stepped up to take his place.

”First off, the number of signatures we’ve received for the Student Freedom Alliance applications stands at 2 hundred and 39 members as of now.”

The crowd erupted in a roar, breaking into loud applause.

Whether this number is accurate or not, I don’t know, but it’s clear the room is heating up.

Higurashi scanned the room with a satisfied look before raising his hand to calm everyone down, and the room fell silent.

”And as you’ve all probably heard rumors about, we, the Student Freedom Alliance, have struck a deal to cooperate with the Student Council. Today, we have special guests, the Student Council President, Amahara Karen-senpai, and Vice-President, Sogahara Takashi-senpai!”

 What!?

 This is a real surprise.

I hadn’t even heard about it!

The doors opened, and in walked the two of them, towering over 180 cm, looking like supermodels with their stunning good looks──Amahara-senpai and Sogahara-senpai──sending a buzz through the room.

Amahara-senpai, with her luxurious, long black hair neatly trimmed at the hip in a princess cut.

Sogahara-senpai with his quirky, beautiful blonde hair and piercing blue eyes, looking nothing like a Japanese person, more like a foreign movie star.

Neither of them looked like high school students, both so mature.

They walked side by side and stopped right in front of the whiteboard, in the center.

 ”Tsuchimiya-senpai”

Higurashi called out to me, gesturing for me to come forward.

 Got it.

 This must be the job.

 Can’t avoid it now.

I steeled myself and stood up.

I walked forward with Higurashi, facing Amahara-senpai and Sogahara-senpai.

I extended my hand, and so did Amahara-senpai.

 Higurashi shook hands with Sogahara-senpai.

The room burst into thunderous applause, cameras flashing like crazy.

Amahara-senpai firmly shook my hand with both of hers, then, looking a bit uneasy, she leaned in close, as if to bow her head.

”Tsuchimiya-kun, you’re awfully quiet. Did Higurashi-kun say something to upset you?”

 Oh, sorry for worrying you.

I’ve got this deadpan look on my face right now, even I can tell.

”I’m okay. Just not used to this, got all tense, and my face is all stiff. My apologies.”

When I answered, Amahara-senpai seemed relieved and smiled kindly.

 ”Alright, face forward next.”

Amahara-senpai held my hands with both of hers and turned to face the crowd, half-turning as she did.

I followed suit, and Higurashi stood next to me while Sogahara-senpai stood next to Amahara-senpai.

At the front, there was a newspaper club member with a ‘Press’ badge standing in the aisle between the pipe stands, flashing and clicking away with their camera.

After making sure they got a good shot, Amahara-senpai bowed her head and let go of my hands.

When Amahara-senpai faced forward again, the room fell silent.

Sensing the shift in atmosphere, we stepped away from Amahara-senpai too.

Sogahara-senpai had also moved closer to the entrance.

In an instant, the air in the venue tensed up.

”Man, this person’s aura is something else.”

Everyone was holding their breath and watching when Amahara-senpai opened her mouth.

”Hello, I’m Amahara Karen, the Student Council President.”

Amahara-senpai smiled and bowed her head, and the tension in the air eased a bit.

But she quickly straightened her expression and raised her voice.

”Members of the Student Freedom Alliance! No… let’s call you all students of Seito Academy! As you know, our Student Council has been in conflict with the Demiurge. People say whichever side wins will take control of the Academy. But that’s wrong!”

In the silent meeting room, Amahara-senpai’s familiar voice echoed clearly and confidently.

”There’s no way Student Council could take over the whole Academy. We’re here to listen to Seito Academy’s students and make their wishes come true. So, I’ve been waiting. Waiting and waiting. Waiting for you all to stand up on your own 2 feet! Waiting for the day you say ‘No’ to Demiurge’s rule with your own free will! For this day, we’ve kept fighting against Demiurge!”

 I can’t take my eyes off Amahara-senpai.

Everyone in the hall sat still, listening with serious faces to her words.

”Right here, this many students gathered to show their own will. Behind you, there are probably even more students. If you raise your voices for freedom and peace, we will be your sword and your shield! The Student Council is rightly chosen by your own hands, a group that makes your wishes come true. You are the ‘masters,’ and we are the ‘servants’! As long as you keep speaking out for yourself, for your neighbors, and for Seito Academy, the Student Council will stand with you!”

A wild roar of cheers and clapping shook the place along with Amahara-senpai’s declaration.

I was staring at that scene too, but then I snapped out of it and called out to Higurashi.

”Hey. Isn’t this noise gonna reach the Academy?”

”It’s fine. Lisphy-san used spirit magic to stop the sound from leaking outside the dorms.”

Well, no slacking off there, huh.

After waiting for the heat to cool down a bit, Amahara-senpai spoke again.

”Again, I want to say thank you to Tsuchimiya Takeru-kun and everyone in Class 2-D for making this happen. And I want you all to remember, Demiurge is also a student of Seito Academy. The Student Council’s power shouldn’t be used against fellow students of Seito Academy. Many of you probably have friends and acquaintances among Demiurge. It would be useless for students of the same Academy to fight each other in this unprecedented crisis. From now on, the Academy will face even greater difficulties. To do that, all the students need to work together as one. I believe it’s possible to join hands with Demiurge. Meeting you all here today, that feeling has turned into conviction. Even if we had no choice but to fight now, if more students raise their voices for freedom and peace like you all did, those loud voices will surely reach them. You are fighting for yourselves, to protect the freedom and peace of the Academy, and also for your fellow Demiurge students. Never use your power with only anger and hatred, and always remember love in the corner of your heart. I’ll end my speech with this request.”

Amahara-senpai smiled and bowed, and the venue was filled with a bigger applause, calmer than before.

 Excited, thrilled, but also rational.

To think they could create this kind of atmosphere in such a short time.

 Huh?

 Sogahara-senpai is using his smartphone.

He’s probably relaying the speech to the Student Council.

Amahara-senpai and Sogahara-senpai bowed together to everyone and left the venue.

”That’s the end of Tsuchimiya-senpai’s job. Kill some time and then leave without being noticed.”

Higurashi said that and went forward.

 Then Akiyama called out.

”Man, how nice that you got to shake hands with Amahara-senpai. I wanted to get closer too. I could smell her even from far away.”

If I said I was just now having s*x with Amahara-senpai, I’d probably get killed.

I went back to my seat and watched the meeting go on.
