Volume 4 Chapter 43 The Shadow of the Kingdom and the Hero’s Necromancy

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

The Dragon Zombie and the group of Black Robes resumed their movement.

They gave up on searching for us and headed toward the forest exit.

Even after our ambush, they didn’t bother adjusting their plan.

We decided to leave the Love Hotel and hit them again.

Hiding in the woods, we tracked them down.

Luckily, the Dragon Zombie moves slowly.

We’d catch up without much trouble.

The enemy consists of one Dragon Zombie and 6 Black Robes.

Out of the Black Robes, 5 are Demon Race and one is a Hero.

The Hero is one of the ones summoned with me.

Honestly, I don’t want to do this, but there’s no choice.

 What he’s doing is unforgivable.

If we don’t stop them here, the damage will be catastrophic.

And that damage will include my wife’s family.

 I’m going to stop them.

 No matter what.

 We’re in position to strike.

In front of us stands the massive form of the Dragon, surrounded by the Black Robes.

We’re targeting them from the shadows of the trees.

”Alright, it’s time. Go for it.”

 ”Understood.”

 ”Got it.”

Lifia and Yomi begin their incantations.

I was worried about Yomi’s mental state, but she didn’t seem to hesitate.

Lifia said nothing about Yomi’s condition.

So, I guess that means there’s no problem.

 That’s when it happened.

One of the Black Robes turned around, facing us.

 They noticed us!

So, they were on guard after all.

It looks like they didn’t let their guard down after the last ambush.

But we can’t back down now.

 ”Altair Ray!”

 ”Mooluumve, Air Lancer!”

Yomi’s laser magic struck the Dragon Zombie, while Lifia’s wind magic aimed at the group.

 ”──!”

Immediately, one of the Black Robes cast a spell.

In the next instant, a translucent barrier appeared, enveloping the Dragon Zombie and all the Black Robes.

 A defensive magic.

Lifia’s wind spear collided with the barrier.

 It shattered, dispersing into mist.

On the other hand, Yomi’s laser pierced right through the defense.

It hit the Dragon Zombie right in the head.

 Grrrrrooooaaarrr!

The Rotting Dragon trembled and let out a pained scream.

It didn’t fall, but it had a massive hole in its head.

It won’t be able to breathe fire for a while.

The Black Robes are already preparing to counterattack.

 ”────! ────!”

The rearguard is casting some kind of spell.

And out comes a blast of ice arrows.

At the same time, 2 figures in black robes charge forward, kicking up dust.

In their hands, the same dull, gleaming knives.

One of them hurls the knife at us.

 ”Hah!”

Kéa steps forward, slicing through the knife and ice arrows.

I’ve already got my revolver out.

A magic gun I picked up on the fifth floor of the dungeon.

I cock it, take aim, and pull the trigger.

 I repeat this 6 times.

This gun is a revolver type.

 The cylinder holds 6 bullets.

That’s the maximum it can fire at once.

There are exactly 6 of them left.

If this takes care of them, it’ll be smooth sailing.

The 6 bullets I fired leave golden trails as they soar towards the black robes.

Two of them rush in, slicing through the bullets with their knives.

Sparks fly, and the bullets disperse into mist.

 They’ve got some serious skills.

They must be the ones specialized in close combat.

Maybe even elites among the Demon Race when it comes to melee.

The remaining 4, with some distance, easily dodge the bullets.

 But they’re too confident.

These bullets from the ‘Magic Archer’ gun automatically home in on their targets.

Try to dodge, try to hide, it doesn’t matter.

And their half-hearted defenses are no match for the piercing shots.

Just as they let their guard down, the bullets draw golden arcs and strike from behind.

 ”Behind you!”

One of the vanguard shouts a warning.

 But it’s too late.

The golden bullets strike the rearguard from behind, hitting 3 of them directly.

 ”Agh!””What!?””Aaagh!”

The golden lines pierce through their bodies.

With screams, the black robes collapse to the ground.

Hit in the chest or head, they don’t move a muscle.

And the final shot heads straight for the necromancer, the young hero.

 ”Protect him! Please!”

The boy yells in terror, cowering down.

He must be thinking it’s too late to run.

But just as I thought that, a massive shadow cuts into the line of fire.

 Thud!

With a thunderous noise, the magic bullet strikes thick scales.

 A dragon.

The corrupted behemoth moved with astonishing speed.

The dragon zombie has shielded the young necromancer.

 Groarrrr!

Hit in the torso by the magic bullet, the Rotting Dragon lets out a roar and falls to the ground.

The earth trembles, the air quakes.

 ”What the──?! ────Aargh!”

The two black robes in close range got distracted by the chaos behind them.

 That’s our chance.

Kéa and I won’t let it slip by.

 ”Now!”

Kéa readied her Two-handed weapon and sprinted, leaving a trail of echoes behind.

I hoisted my longsword and closed the distance in one burst.

Then, in a moment of overlap──

 ”Guh…”

 ”How…?”

 Our slashes explode into action.

The two black robes sink to the ground.

The remaining enemies are the necromancer hero and the dragon zombie.

The dragon zombie’s taken a massive hit.

Enough to take down a normal undead.

But as long as the necromancer lives, he’ll just keep coming back.

Still, no doubt about it, we’ve got the upper hand here.

 ”──! ──!”

The kid’s shouting orders at the fallen dragon zombie.

 But the dragon’s not moving.

Must be too damaged, after all.

I glare at the necromancer kid while I hurry to reload my magic gun.

 This gun’s a revolver, with a classic, fixed-cylinder design.

I pull out each cartridge, load them one by one by hand.

It’s reliable, but it takes time to reload.

Once I’m done, I move in on him.

Frankly, it’d be quicker and surer to just shoot him with the gun or Lifia’s magic.

 And it’s definitely fatal.

I’ve got no qualms about killing anymore.

 Not at this point.

But is it okay to just do it without a word?
