Volume 4 Chapter 16 The Days of Practice

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

The analysis of the Editor skill hit a wall.

I’ve figured out some patterns, but I just can’t get everything to click into place.

To use magic or skills, I just need to save the spell formulas with the Editor skill. That part was pretty easy to figure out.

It’s similar to saving a file on a computer──nothing too complicated, but it seems like the file name and save location matter a lot.

If I save it in the root directory, it works fine, but if I put it in a folder like the skills I already use, it won’t activate. I can guess the path isn’t set correctly, but honestly, I don’t know how to do that on a real computer, so how could I deal with magic like this?

I could just save everything in the root directory to avoid the problem, but then it gets messy, and that drives me crazy. Right now, I have to delete and copy files every time I use them, and it’s starting to get really annoying.

I’ve started to notice something now that I’ve been too lazy to fix things. When I save magic or skills with names, I can call them from other magic or skill formulas using that file name.

For example, when using Radar Scan, I could activate the skill directly, but if I write “Radar Scan” inside another spell formula, then activating that formula will trigger Radar Scan too.

I mean, so what? But I think this is how magic formulas are made──by combining different formulas.

If I keep analyzing this, maybe one day I can create original magic. For now, I’m struggling to make a simple calculator by combining operators.

I only learned a bit about programming in tech class, but if you’re good at math, this is probably easy.

The ancient script has 4 numbers: 1, 2, 3, 4. But it gets tricky since 5 is written as 11, and 6 as 12. And there’s no symbol for 0. If you need a 0, you can use 1-1 as a workaround. But sometimes, 2-2 doesn’t add up to exactly 0. It’s confusing. Maybe we can’t treat this math like Earth’s.

I’ve been mulling it over, so I’m gonna stop using the editor skill.

When I’m stuck, I want to shake things up and get refreshed. I start with careful warm-up exercises, making sure each muscle moves right. I channel mana through my whole body. I wasn’t a fan of math or gym back in Japan, but here, there’s no room for likes and dislikes. Lately, though, moving my body has been getting more fun.

No matter how much I train, my muscle strength only got up to level 7. But I can jump higher than my height now, so I guess I’m a bit above average. I could handle low-level action scenes, like a TV ninja.

Still, by this world’s standards, I’m just a beginner adventurer. I can handle the weakest goblin soldiers or orcs, but that’s about it.

In my case, I can take down higher-level monsters with a surprise arrow shot from behind. But if I face them head-on, even a goblin could give me a hard time.

They say level-ups don’t really affect muscles much. A slim woman can throw a carriage with one hand if she’s a high-level warrior.

Honestly, if I just level up, I could solve this easily. But it seems like there are downsides to getting too high-level too.

So, I was taught a skill to boost my strength by circulating mana through my whole body. It’s like a weaker version of the body reinforcement, but without relying on skills. Just controlling the mana inside me. It’s amazing how effective it is, just doing that!

I’ve learned about mana circulation from some ancient bedroom arts. It’s all about keeping mana flowing inside you. If you perfect the cycle, you won’t even use MP. Plus, if you push it to the limit, you can refine the mana as it loops, making it purer and stronger.

In my case, I’ve got some bonus from the whole “equivalent exchange” deal. It feels like I’m getting better at using even a tiny bit of mana efficiently. Before, I’d lose it if it wasn’t concentrated enough. Now, even a little bit spreads through my body just the way I want.

Think of mana like electricity. Handling this delicate stuff is like the difference between high-voltage lines and a circuit board. This skill with tiny mana could be a real asset, right?

Rolling around spells with my editor skill is nothing compared to moving my body like this. Ideas just keep popping up. Well, it’s like that sometimes.

 ”Shall we train, my son-in-law?”

 ”Please, I’d be grateful.”
