Fake-Survivor 133

Chapter 133

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

The first night at the Gavrett estate.

Ms. Alicia came to my room while I was talking with Seria.

A noblewoman, a woman of age, visiting a man’s room at night… well, it’s not something people would approve of.

Especially since she suffered from a curse. If the Viscount found out, it wouldn’t be good at all.

I thought about not opening the door, but… she said it was about Ms. Elina. I had no choice but to let her in.

First, I made Seria invisible and had her stay in the corner of the room.

 Clack!

 ”Um… good evening.”

”Good evening. May I come in?”

 ”Ah, yes.”

 ”Then…”

I was flustered, opening the door, because she mentioned Ms. Elina. I wasn’t sure how to greet her. But Ms. Alicia entered without hesitation.

She didn’t come alone, of course. She had her maid with her.

I recognize her from somewhere… Ah.

The woman who was in the room when I first saw Ms. Alicia. She was her caretaker when she was cursed.

She even did the most intimate care back then. If she’s trusted that much, she might have been her exclusive maid even before the curse.

 ”… “

 *Nod.*

 ”… “

 *Bows, then… creak… slam.*

Ms. Alicia nodded at the maid, and the maid closed the door from the outside.

I would have preferred to leave it open to avoid misunderstandings. But if we’re talking about Ms. Elina, there’s a lot to consider. I should avoid leaks.

So I didn’t mention being alone with Ms. Alicia. Instead, I offered her the sofa.

 ”Then… please, over there.”

 ”Yes. Please, you too.”

 ”Right.”

After I sat down opposite Ms. Alicia…

 *Tap-tap-tap… plop.*

 ”…”

She sat down next to me for some reason.

 ”Why here?”

 ”It’s a private matter.”

Ms. Alicia answered with a calm face.

This kind of thing has happened before, and once someone says it, I can’t really stop them from sitting right next to me.

So, I’ll just ignore the fact that she’s at my side and get right to the main topic.

”So, what did you want to talk about? You said it was about Lady Elina…”

At that, she lets out a light sigh.

”Sigh. Honestly, I’ve figured out most of it already.”

 ”Huh?”

What could she possibly know just from walking into the room?

That question must’ve been written all over my face, because Ms. Alicia hits me with a cold stare.

”Mr. Koji, you… slept with my mother, didn’t you?”

 ”What?”

 How did she find out?

Ms. Elina’s never been in this room. There shouldn’t be any trace of her either.

Should I just flat-out deny it?

Just as I’m thinking that, she starts explaining how she figured out the truth between me and Ms. Elina.

”It started when you broke her curse. The way Mother looked at you after… it was obvious. She had that look in her eyes.”

 ”…She did?”

Come to think of it, we’d already done it by then, so it wouldn’t be weird if she saw me that way.

But I still can’t just admit it that easily──except Ms. Alicia clearly has more reasons for suspecting us.

”And there’s more… Mother was the one who insisted I get my own room away from Ms. Seria. Then you told me to leave, saying you needed to discuss something about her. When you opened the door, it all just lined up. It’s impossible to cover it up at this point, right?”

She sounds absolutely sure of herself.

Splitting the rooms wasn’t weird in itself, and moving fast when Lady Elina was involved would be the normal thing to do.

So really, it’s all circumstantial evidence──but if someone’s already suspicious, I’m as good as caught.

Even though I helped Ms. Alicia and agreed to guard Iris for a while, if the Viscount thinks I did something with his wife, he’ll definitely hate me for it.

And I have no plans to steal Lady Elina from him, so that’s the last thing I need.

Goblin-proof your edits with sharp, clear English──make every word count for tired dungeon scribes!

So, I wanted Ms. Alicia to keep quiet about my suspicions, but as I thought about it, she came over and leaned on me.

Because of that, her bigger chest than Iris’s changed shape.

 *Sss…squish*

 ”Um, what does this mean…?”

When I questioned her actions, Ms. Alicia answered with a slightly nervous face.

”W-what about me in your place?”

 ”Huh? Why would that happen?”

”I don’t want to say this to you, who’s done so much for me, but… being the daughter of a certain someone is a bit…”

”I get that, but is it really necessary for you to take her place?”

 ”Uh, that’s…”

She stumbled over her words to my question, but after a short pause, she answered.

 ”Well, to put it simply…”

 ”Simply?”

 ”I, uh, fell for you!”

I’m not sure if it’s her first confession, but Ms. Alicia said it with a face as red as a beet.

Still, I can’t help but think her feelings stem from something else.

”Or is it just because I broke the curse for you?”

”I’m not denying that… but I also fell for the strength you showed when you got that paper that broke the curse, and during the training!”

 ”Ehh…”

Maybe my battle with the big guard was a factor too.

From what Iris told me, it seems Ms. Alicia is quite the warrior, always swinging her spear and riding her horse.

For someone like her, falling for someone strong and grateful wouldn’t be strange at all.
