Volume 4 Chapter 55 Black Hair and the Motel

The new feature of my ‘Love Hotel’ skill was called a ‘motel’.
”What is a motel?”
Tifi, peeking in from the side, tilted her head in confusion.
A motel is a simple, practical place to stay, mainly for travelers and long-distance movers. It’s often built outside city centers, on roads or in suburbs. The key feature: a parking space right next to each room, so guests can drive up and go straight to their room without passing through a lobby or front desk. The design makes it clear ── it’s “a place for passing through.”
Not for long stays. Just one or 2 nights, a resting stop on the road. More about quick convenience than luxury or fun. It has minimal facilities, easy to stay in, easy to leave. That’s what makes it a motel.
And a Love Hotel with a motel setup. This version has a private garage for each room ── you drive right in. When you park, a shutter automatically closes, hiding the car outside. Completely private──you can go inside without being seen. Perfect for those who want to hide.
No need to give your name at the front desk. No face-to-face with other guests. Check in from your car, stay in your room, leave without seeing anyone. That’s the big appeal of a motel-style Love Hotel.
I tried to sum up the main points about it.
Some of this might be hard for them, since they’re from another world. But… I thought it’d be good to try explaining.
”So… it’s like a stable with guest rooms?”
Looks like they understood it in their own way.
”Does it even matter in this world?”
Yomi’s concern hits the mark.
No cars here. There are carriages, but we don’t have one, and there’s no need for them.
For long trips, it’s quicker and more comfortable to just put Kéa in motion and open the ‘Love Hotel’ door.
But this is a motel created by my ‘Love Hotel’ skill. It must have its own unique purpose and effects.
Perhaps this will even give me a reason to own a carriage. If it offers that much convenience and versatility, it’s worth considering.
I checked the motel’s facilities in the menu.
The price was 2000 MP.
Quite expensive.
But it’s a feature that demands that much mana. It must have practical value.
I need to confirm how it works.
I waited a while for my mana to naturally recover, then made the purchase.
Where will it appear?
Motels typically allow direct access to rooms from the outside.
No lobby or shared hallways—you park your car and go straight to your room. That’s why each room has an attached garage.
Looking around, I noticed a new door on one wall.
I opened it.
Inside was a sterile, cold space.
The floor felt like paved concrete. Definitely a parking garage, with enough space for one car.
It connected directly to the room, as expected.
In front was a shutter. Cars would enter here.
I pressed a small button beside it, and the shutter rose silently.
Beyond it was the scenery of Dungeon City.
The fantastical underwater landscape stretched out, with shimmering waves reflecting on the floor and casting a faint glow on the artificial walls.
So, an entrance and garage for a car.
For now, it could be used as storage.
I could bring in large, dirty materials without going through the lobby or bedroom. Not bad, but not enough to be truly useful.
But there must be more.
I opened the menu and saw new functions added:
’Resupply,’ ‘Cleaning,’ ‘Repair.’
Likely for refueling, tire changes, washing the car, and fixing damages.
In my original world, motel garages often had such services.
Useful for car owners, but there are no cars in this world.
And my ‘Love Hotel’ skill probably can’t create one.
Do these functions have any meaning for me without a car?
No, they must.
My skills exist for me. There’s no way they’d be useless. The question is how to use them.
”Maybe if I bring in a carriage, I’ll understand…”
The closest thing to a car in this world is a carriage.
If I bring one into the garage, something might happen.
But borrowing a carriage isn’t easy, and I can’t drive one. I can’t show the ‘Love Hotel’ to a coachman.
That’s when Kéa spoke up.
”If it’s a horse, I can borrow one right away!”
She said there’s a ranch and horse rental outside Dungeon City. For a price, you can borrow a horse.
”A horse, huh…”
A horse isn’t a ‘car,’ but it is a ‘vehicle.’
Even without a carriage, bringing a horse into the garage might trigger something. Worth testing.
”Alright, go borrow one.”
”Yes, sir!”
Saluting energetically, Kéa dashed off.
After a while, I got a message from her:
’I’m here──!’
I opened the garage shutter.
Outside was a quiet back alley of Dungeon City. The cobblestones were mossy, the air damp and clinging.
There stood Kéa, leading a horse.
True to her knight upbringing, she handled the horse skillfully.
The horse had sleek black fur, calm and composed.
It entered the garage without panic, sniffing the floor cautiously.
”You can borrow one so easily?”
Its black coat looked impressive, even to an amateur.
I commented, and Kéa explained.
”Apparently…”
The horse had an injured leg and couldn’t run.
