Volume 4 Chapter 20-2 Money Game

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

It’s a battlefield. I never gave Shea-Shea full control like this, but… I can’t exactly say anything now.

”This is incredible! The dream of all dwarves is coming true right here!”

After that confrontation, we enter the workshop and Mr. Zenom is running around the workshop like crazy. It seems to be because of the combo of Pii-Pii and the salamander I summoned.

I figured it’d be fine showing Mr. Zenom, the dwarf, but when I demonstrated the salamander’s Hellfire breath, his face completely changed.

Hellfire is a powerful breath attack that requires a lot of strength, but if you limit the mana, it can be used peacefully as a stove, which is pretty handy. By applying the exchange ability of the mana I’ve gained, I can control the mana consumption easily.

”How long do you think this breath can keep going?”

Mr. Zenom asked, his breath heavy, eyes wide open like a raging demon.

”As long as that kid doesn’t get bored──an hour, maybe 2.”

If Pii-Pii supplies mana, theoretically, it could go on for weeks, but I didn’t mention that. Plus, this salamander, being a clone of Frapatica, is pretty unpredictable. It’ll probably get bored in less than an hour.

 ”Amazing! This is too amazing!”

In the end, we had to wait for Mr. Zenom to calm down for a while.

Well, after hearing the reason, I understood why Mr. Zenom was so excited. Apparently, with dragon flames, you can easily reforge mithril silver. And not only that──mithril can even be smelted from the scrap stones discarded at mithril mines.

Mithril silver is a magic metal more expensive than pure gold of the same weight, but it’s actually more abundant than iron.

The problem is that most of the mined ore is hard mithril, which can’t be processed with regular flames, so it’s treated as waste.

Only the soft mithril, which is similar to regular silver, is useful. But even if you mine a cart full of ore, you’d only get enough to fill an ear pick. It’s incredibly rare.

Smiths can harden soft mithril by running mana through it after they’ve worked it into weapons and such. They call this process “mithril hardening.” Once it’s hardened, you can’t work it anymore. Even skilled smiths get so nervous their stomachs hurt because there’s no room for error.

The finished mithril sword is terrifyingly tough and keeps its super sharp edge forever without any maintenance. Of course, you can’t sharpen it with a whetstone because it’s unbreakable.

The only weakness of these terrifyingly hard mithril weapons is dragon fire infused with mana.

A dragon’s fire breath can melt mithril. In ancient times, there were artifacts forged with dragon fire like that.

And the unique magic of a salamander, its hellfire, has the same effect as dragon fire. Well, it looks dragon-like, even if it’s tiny.

After that, Mr. Zenom waved a thin mithril wire through the salamander’s flame, and it melted into a red blob. He quickly moved it to the anvil and smashed it with a hammer until it flattened into a disc.

”Hmph, I can shape it, but how do I sharpen it? What about casting?”

Mr. Zenom started muttering to himself, thinking hard.

It’s a pain that you can only work on it while it’s being roasted by hellfire. A blade that’s not properly sharpened won’t have a good edge. Normally, you sharpen mithril and then harden it with mana, so it’s not a problem…

Well, for armor, not being able to sharpen it isn’t an issue. It might be useful for reinforcing my leather armor – light and sturdy. Adding some spiky pads on the shoulders would look pretty intimidating, maybe a bit villainous. A dream metal, light and tough.

”Ah, right! I made this. Let’s give it a try.”

Mr. Zenom suddenly remembered and pulled out something that looked like a wooden rifle.

Ah, this is a prototype of the Indra Gun. I completely forgot about it, but yeah, I made one of those too.
