Volume 4 Chapter 59 The Fairy Sailor

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

The restoration of that sunken ship we obtained on the 5th Floor of the dungeon is finally complete.

Our hearts race as we hurry towards the motel’s repair dock.

There before us appeared a ship so beautifully restored, it was hard to believe.

The rotted wood had regained its smooth luster, and the hull was meticulously repaired, as good as new.

A brand new sail was hoisted on the mast, gently swaying even though there was no wind.

 ”Oh…”

 ”Wow…”

 ”Magnificent!”

 Everyone looks up speechlessly.

The pile of debris that once was is now a fully restored ship.

We climb aboard with excitement, stepping onto the deck.

Not a single creak. The floorboards are tightly fitted and polished, like new. The eerie atmosphere of the ghost ship is gone, replaced by a refreshing air.

The ship seems to be eagerly welcoming us for a new voyage.

We proceed to explore the interior of the ship one by one.

First, we enter the cargo hold.

The high-ceilinged space is neatly stacked with wooden crates and barrels. We peek into the crates and tap the barrels to check – they’re all empty. Of course, they would be.

 ”There’s no treasure, it seems…”

 Kéa says with disappointment.

It’s only natural that there’s no treasure since we collected it all before. Still, there’s a bit of a letdown.

Next, we check out the crew’s quarters.

Multiple hammocks are hung from the ceiling, and there are wooden storage boxes on the floor. Small shelves and unknown tools are mounted on the walls.

”It’s a bit cramped as living space, but it seems livable with some effort.”

Tifi says while opening a shelf to inspect it.

There’s a kitchen area too. The cooking station has pots, pans, and a rack for dishes, resembling a proper kitchen setup.

However, we have the ‘Love Hotel’.

With comfortable facilities, abundant food supplies, and room service, we won’t be using this place much.

Overall, the inside of the ship is surprisingly clean. The wood feels warm, and every surface is polished to a shine. There’s no sense of wear and tear.

”It’s clean, but there’s no sense of having been lived in at all.”

 Lifia mutters.

That’s right. Its pristine beauty feels a bit cold, almost inorganic. Of course, since it was just repaired.

And now, finally, the captain’s quarters.

 ”Oh!”

The moment the door opens, a voice slips out unconsciously.

Inside is nothing but pure luxury.

A deep red carpet covers the floor, with a gold-edged table and chairs in the center.

A large, detailed map hangs on the wall. It was faded and unreadable before, but now it’s vivid again.

 ”Wow… this is incredible.”

 Yomi gasps in surprise.

 The bookshelf is impressive too.

Books that were once weathered and broken by seawater are now perfectly lined up, looking brand new. The spines shine, and the words are clear.

 ”Amazing!”

Yomi cheers and rushes to the bookshelf.

She picks up a book and happily flips through the pages.

 ”I can actually read it…!”

Her eyes sparkle with excitement, and a smile naturally forms on my face.

It’s hard to believe this space was once a ghost ship haunted by skeletons. Now it’s so clean. This is what a good repair can do──make everything beautiful again. That’s the magic of the ‘Love Hotel’ repair system.

I take a deep breath and quietly survey the room.

 My dreams start to expand.

Luxurious interior, well-kept equipment, and the pirate ship that will host our adventure.

But behind my excitement, practical problems stand in the way.

 ”So, Mr. Taro…”

Tifi speaks softly, looking a bit apologetic.

”How do we move this thing?”

 Yes, that’s the issue.

I haven’t forgotten, but it’s still a problem──how do we get this ship moving?

Right now, the sails on the mast are neatly folded.

If we lower them and catch the wind, we could sail? That’d be simple, but it’s not that easy.

”For now, let’s give it a try.”

I say that and start pulling ropes attached to the mast.

The creaking of the pulleys echoes, and the sails lifted high above slowly start to unfold.

With Kéa helping, we manage to get the sails down.

Next, we open the shutter inside the motel.

Sunlight streams in from the water surface overhead, and the outside scenery suddenly opens up.

”Lifia, I need you to catch the wind.”

 ”Yes.”

Lifia folded her hands over her chest and gently closed her eyes. As she chanted, a soft light rose around us, and the next moment, a refreshing breeze swept across the deck.

The sails billowed softly, the fabric stretching gently, and the ship creaked slightly.

 But the ship didn’t move.

 We exchanged glances.

This dungeon’s 5th Floor, the ‘Seafloor of Shadow Waves,’ was a space modeled after the ocean. But we weren’t actually underwater.

We stood firmly on the ground, breathing normally. Yet, the atmosphere was entirely oceanic.

Light filtering through the ceiling shimmered as if passing through water, and fish-like monsters glided gracefully through the translucent blue space.

Naturally, we assumed the ship would float the same way.

 But reality wasn’t that kind.

Our ship remained firmly on its pedestal in the motel, not budging an inch.

Did we need to remove it from the pedestal? Or was there another step we’d missed? Honestly, we had no idea.

There were no hints about how to operate it, and we were at a loss.

This might be more challenging than we thought.

We split up to inspect the ship.
