Volume 4 Chapter 58-2 Patience Is a virtue—wait and See, Wait and Smoke

It’s too big to move by just pushing… so, what now?
No problem. We have someone who can shine even in situations like this.
”Alright, Rozmiaque, it’s on you.”
”Yes, leave it to me!”
Rozmiaque faced the pirate ship and quietly began chanting.
From the sandy ground, countless vines shot up. They squirmed like they were alive, wrapping around the ship’s hull. Then, they started pulling the pirate ship toward the motel.
Slowly, the massive ship began to move.
But with each shift, the ship’s hull groaned, like it was screaming in pain.
”Master, if we force this too much, it might break apart.”
”We have no choice. Worst case, we can split it. Just keep it together as much as possible, without pushing it too far.”
”Understood.”
Rozmiaque poured more magic into the vines, strengthening their grip.
Meanwhile, fish-like monsters attacked from all sides. Demon sardines, of course, but also ones like needlefish, octopuses, and morays. They were all just in the way, but we couldn’t let them be.
Kéa and I stepped forward, clearing the monsters. Yomi’s light magic and Lifia’s wind magic helped us out.
As the vines continued pulling, the creaking sound of old wood echoed around us. The parts that had lost durability cracked and collapsed with a snap.
Still, we didn’t give up. We kept working carefully.
Finally, the entire sunken ship was inside the motel.
I let out a breath, looking at the ship we’d managed to fit inside.
The damage was worse than I’d expected. The ship’s hull was torn in several places, and part of the deck had collapsed. I gathered up any smaller pieces and threw them in with the ship as best as I could.
”Lord, I’m so sorry…”
Next to me, Rozmiaque quietly lowered his head.
His face showed regret and a strong sense of responsibility. Sweat dripped down his forehead as he bit his lip.
”I should have been more careful with my power… My inexperience…”
The already heavily damaged sunken ship had suffered even more damage during the pulling process.
The deck was cracked wide open, part of the side had fallen apart, and the mast had snapped at the base.
At first glance, it looks like nothing but a pile of rubble. Anybody seeing this for the first time wouldn’t think it’s a ship.
”It’s fine. It was already a mess to begin with. It was impossible to make it worse.”
I laugh and slap my shoulder.
”Rather, you did well. You helped me, Rozmiaque.”
”My lord… your kind words…!”
He places a hand over his chest, bowing deeply, his knees almost touching the ground. His voice trembles slightly, and his eyes glisten with tears.
Without Rozmiaque’s vines, I wouldn’t have been able to move this huge body at all. Even with more damage, it’s thanks to him that we could bring it inside the motel.
And somehow, the ship still keeps its shape. I want to believe there’s a chance for it to be restored.
We all take shelter inside the motel.
As the shutter closes quietly, all traces of the outside world are cut off.
We don’t have to worry about monster attacks anymore. This place is the safest sanctuary.
”Phew… one crisis down.”
Yomi breathes a sigh of relief, and Kéa stretches out.
I call up the menu.
The screen displays items I’ve never seen before: ‘Hull Maintenance’, ‘Sail Repair’, and more.
I select ‘Hull Repair’ and tap it.
In the next moment, the sunken ship is enveloped in a faint light.
Each splinter of wood, each torn sail, each cracked deck is filled with particles of light, slowly taking shape again.
”…!”
Suddenly, my vision swirls. My feet feel like they’re sinking into a squishy ground.
”Master!?”
Lifia hurries over to support me.
The magic is being drained at an incredible rate. It’s nothing like when I brush a horse.
Of course, repairing a massive ship is no small task.
”I’m okay, just surprised by how much magic it’s using.”
I say this to put everyone at ease.
Meanwhile, the ship’s repair continues slowly.
The timber wrapped in the veil of light is gradually starting to regain its original form.
Still, the progress is slow. It feels more like it’s being gently reconstructed than visibly changing.
”This… is going to take some time.”
I grumbled, and everyone around me nodded in silent agreement.
I’m focusing on regaining my magic. I’ll take it easy and rest.
* * *
While waiting for repairs, I parked my body on the dorm’s sofa. The fluffy cushions enveloped me. The comfort seeped into my magic-drained body.
And while I was out of commission, my mates seemed to be enjoying their break too.
Lifia was engrossed in tea research, thanks to the world tree leaves she got from Rozmiaque.
”The aroma changes with temperature and steeping time… it’s so deep.”
She carefully noted the differences in taste and scent after brewing several samples.
A teacup was brought to me, filled with a light amber liquid.
Taking a sip, a faint sweetness and a refreshing aroma spread through my nose.
”Tastes good. Lifia’s tea is the best, as always.”
”Really…? I’m glad, Master.”
Lifia beamed a smile, her ears turning red.
Tifi had returned after going back to the guild to report and hand over duties.
She seemed a bit proud as she recounted how she couldn’t leave her loved ones behind, despite being called back several times.
The slight blush on her cheeks was adorably cute.
Meanwhile, Kéa was swimming with the demon sardines in the usual pool.
She looked like she was just playing, but she claimed it was serious underwater combat training, puffing out her chest.
Hard to tell how true that is.
Oh, and she’s wearing a competitive swimsuit──a high-leg one that shows off her body lines. She’s cute when she’s shy about the extra fabric.
Yomi had cracked open a thick book she bought at the market earlier, reading intently.
It seemed to be a novel, not something for practical use.
For her, these quiet times must be precious.
Rozmiaque holed up in his room, tending to his plants──seemed like world tree and Ambrosia bonsais.
He managed to cultivate them using pots and soil from the love hotel’s ornamental plants.
He’s even thinking of setting up a sunlit room just for his greenery.
Like that, we each spent our time, aiming to end the day in peace.
The tension of battle fades away, and for a moment, the Love Hotel feels peaceful.
I sip the tea Lifia made, and I suck on Lifia’s and Tifi’s breasts, trying to restore magic power.
A notification sound goes Thunk! inside the room.
The menu shows the words “Repair Complete.”
My ship has come back to life.
Pirate captain: “Mine!”
