Volume 5 Chapter 12 To the Dragon’s Dwelling
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
The large purchase of chicken eggs was successful, and only the dragon’s testicles remain.
Exposing unfertilized eggs to the strong essence of a dragon seems to change them into high-quality protein-like material.
If just exposing to the essence, it’s enough to place eggs around a passionate male dragon. There’s no need to kill the dragon for its testicles.
Imagine me diligently placing eggs around a mating dragon; it’s such a surreal scene.
Dragon mating is very intense, enough to alter the surrounding terrain. There are stories of nearby lands being destroyed. It’s like humans stepping on ants──careless but probably unintentional.
It’s not a situation where I can calmly place eggs; a flick of the tail could blow me away.
Dragon mating doesn’t happen often. But dragons, like anyone, sometimes indulge in mad thoughts… If I could talk to a male dragon and gain cooperation, I might safely place eggs.
I know 2 male dragons. Their names are Otto and Schulz. According to Uno’s info, both are mature male dragons.
Otto is a special type of dragon, said to have a unique fetish, only interested in human males. Usually, he transforms into a beautiful maiden and fully becomes a human woman.
When he finds a human man he likes, he keeps him confined in his dungeon until old age. Despite that, he looks like a stunning beauty. Many men voluntarily go to Otto’s dungeon knowing they could be kept forever. Is this like boys’ love? It’s very dark.
Otto is ruled out; his dungeon is deep in the southern sea. Even without his strange obsession, it’s too far away.
Schulz is also a very peculiar dragon. He does not pursue female dragons, but instead collects human women happily.
Schulz’s dungeon is in northern mountains not far from the royal capital. Rich underground resources, including a mithril vein, are buried nearby.
Was the mithril vein the reason dragons settled there?
Because it is a strong (powerful) dragon’s habitat, resources remain unexploited?
According to Mr. Zenom, veins of magic metals tend to be in places with dense mana.
It’s possible that the dragons’ mana created the mithril deposits.
I read a light novel in Japan with a story like that.
Anyway, it’s certain that Schulz is an extraordinary wealthy person.
Because he participates in the Anti-Magic Alliance, he even holds the Duke’s rank as a dragon.
The tricky part is that Schulz’s dungeon land is inside the territory of the Mine Ray Duke family.
Someone else, a human who arrived later, secretly incorporated the dragon’s habitat into their land.
Currently, the Mine Ray Duke family does not have enough strength to defeat the dragon.
Since Schulz is a valuable force for the Anti-Magic Alliance, there’s no conflict.
It’s been a strange coexistence for hundreds of years.
The Mine Ray family seems to develop the mountain near the dragon’s nest and pays a price.
They regularly offer beautiful maidens as sacrifices.
Only very beautiful women are accepted; if not, they are turned away.
The women who return are given the dishonorable title of “returning sacrifice.”
In other words, they are marked as not being beauties.
It’s worse in a way than being eaten by a dragon.
Because of that, even when sacrifices return, they are often imprisoned by their families.
So, there shouldn’t be any actual victims of Schulz, as the rumors say.
Sometimes, kidnappings unrelated to Schulz are blamed on the dragon.
Based on information from Uno, Schulz has never demanded sacrifices.
He’s said to be the type who kidnaps a maiden he likes during a walk around the sky.
But he’s been quiet and reclusive for hundreds of years, so he wouldn’t do that now.
Well, kidnapping maidens sounds like a typical dragon tale.
His habitat is quite close too.
I hope Schulz will cooperate (assist) somehow.
Since I got some information from Uno, I can prepare something that will make a nice gift. Fortunately, in the royal capital, you can get anything as long as you have money.

During my stay in the royal capital, I made some connections with a few summoner hero communities through Mr. Raoh. Not everyone was a good person, but according to Mr. Raoh, they were relatively decent folks.
Some of the summoner heroes do terrible things without hesitation, like it’s a game, and apparently, they constantly get into trouble with the locals.
The only evil heroes I know are Alex, who killed a fox, and Justice and his gang who tried to make me a slave. But I wonder if there are worse ones?
Well, there are plenty of bad people in this world too. The saying “If you see someone, think of them as a thief” works in other worlds too. That’s why trustworthy people are precious, and you have to cherish them.
Spirits and wolves don’t easily make promises with humans, but once they form a contract, they will protect it with their lives. It might not be the same as good and evil, but I like them.
Was it Mr. Arsam? He’s a handsome summoner hero who’s holed up in Professor’s apartment. He married a spirit and received blessings, but it seems he got a penalty so severe it left him unable to fight when his affair was exposed.
Mr. Raoh and the others say that spirits are cold and heartless, but I don’t think so. I’ve been married to a spirit, so it’s not something I can just dismiss.
In my case, I had good wives, and since humans change their minds, they cleanly divorced me without any hard feelings.
At that time, I thought there was no need to get a divorce, but seeing Mr. Arsam, I can only be grateful for Uno and the others’ consideration.
It seems that in order to date a spirit, you have to live a life full of self-discipline and pride. It seems easy at first, but it’s way too hard for humans.
The protagonists in the story I borrowed from Shea-Shea broke their promises to the spirits they married, and it usually ended in tragedy.
By the way, even though we divorced, I still have the blessings. Since I received them before marriage, I guess it’s okay?
I realized that I have been relying on them a lot. I want to repay them someday, but is there anything I can do?

I bought all the gifts for Schultz, and the preparations were complete, but when it was time to leave, I found it hard to make up my mind.
Ms. Nina is in a stable dormant state now, so there is no time limit. There may be no element to push me, a coward, forward.
While doing the final check of the plan, I am spending my days boosting my strength and getting my health in order, telling myself that I will depart tomorrow.
After all, my opponent is a hard-to-please dragon, and if I fail, there will be no next time. No, maybe there will be a next time… even if the negotiation with Schultz fails, the important thing is to come back alive no matter what. I still have Otto as my next negotiation partner.
My 6th sense tells me that I must avoid Otto, though.
Just then, an incident occurred. Mr. Shirakaba, whom I had met at the mountain villa, went alone into Schultz’s dungeon.
Apparently, Mr. Shirakaba’s lover, the youngest daughter of the Duke Mineley family, was sacrificed to Schultz.
Mr. Kondou and the others were making a fuss about going to rescue her, but the Professor suggested it might be a scheme by the Duke Mineley family, so the rescue operation was temporarily canceled.
It seems the daughter who was offered as a sacrifice was a loser in a succession dispute. In other words, it was a noble family internal conflict, and the dragon was merely used conveniently as an executioner.
