Volume 5 Chapter 15-2 The Guardian Of The Pond

Candles were lit in the palace and the temple as if to show off to the summoned Heroes. In reality, it seemed they were trying to flaunt their overwhelming economic power. Candles are quite common in Japan, so I didn’t think much of it.
But now it’s different; I know the value of candles. Ah, I see, maybe I wanted to look good in front of the girls. It was unconscious, though.
Well, whatever. I take out Mr. Shirakaba and the others from the magic bag and line them up. When I look at them again, their appearance is amazing. Is it Schulz’s hobby? They are only wrapped in thin cloths, as if just for show. The fact that they don’t move actually makes it more erotic.
They don’t move, but it seems they are conscious, so I shouldn’t stare at them too much. Since I’m unsure where to look, I search for clothes to put on them, but even with the all-purpose magic bag, nothing comes out that I haven’t put in. Essentially, the clothes are mostly mine and Ms. Nina’s spare clothes.
Somehow, Ms. Claire’s outfits and Miss Floria’s dress are also in there, but the only ones that might fit are Ms. Nina’s clothes.
I don’t want to put Ms. Nina’s clothes on someone else, but if it’s a new spare set made by Mr. Simonov, it’s fine. I’ll have him make new ones for Ms. Nina next time. Since her body is no longer a golem, her size and other things might change.
I struggle to put the clothes on them, but dressing someone who isn’t moving is basically impossible. Actually, these two have proper sensory perception, don’t they? This is… bad.
I lay the girls on the bed, place the folded clothes by their pillows, and quietly leave the room.
It seems there is no way to disable the fixed magic that Schulz placed on the daughters. Thought it can’t be dissolved, this incredible magic can’t be sustained without Schulz’s vast mana. I think it will dissolve over time.
How many hours, or even days, will it take for them to be able to move again? This is something I’ll only know if I try it. Considering the remaining mana from Schulz, it shouldn’t take too long.
On the one hand, I want to resurrect Ms. Nina as soon as possible, but on the other hand, I know that impatience is forbidden. I have almost all the necessary materials, but it would be better to have a backup in case of unforeseen circumstances. I also need to ensure that the budget is fully secured. Maybe I can manage with the souvenir I got from Schulz.
When I heard that Ms. Mahal needed a large sum of money, I thought it was all over, but hope began to emerge.
When I go outside, the night sky is filled with stars. Even though spring is approaching, such a clear night seems cold.
I had an unexpected waiting time until Mr. Shirakaba’s magic dissolved. Since I’m here, I might as well go see the big fish in the pond that I’ve been curious about.
It seems like they’ve been using the natural pond that was originally here for aquaculture. The noticeable presence is slowly swimming in the deep part of the pond, nearly 2 meters in size.
According to the Professor, it seems that the salmon in this world hardly die after spawning and return to the sea. It seems that they grow to an incredible size over many years… a 2-meter salmon, I’d like to see it.
But the silhouette and swimming style don’t look like salmon. It’s rough and a bit monster-like, right? I feel like I’ve seen it in an encyclopedia or something when I was in Japan.
I faintly remember it, but I can’t recall the name. It was definitely a food fish, and a valuable one at that.
Ah, that’s right, it’s caviar. The parent of caviar. It’s an ancient-looking fish that can grow so large that several fishermen have to work together to haul it in, and they need luck.
Freshwater fish have a muddy smell, but what about it? Since it’s the parent of caviar, it must taste like caviar. I kind of want to try eating it, but it might be a fish the Professor is raising. Moreover, if it’s the only one and it’s a valuable fish, it would be a problem.
In this world, quite a few species of creatures are going extinct. The wall barley disrupting the ecosystem is also a factor.
It seems that the educated class in this world believes that even if a creature goes extinct, it can be summoned again from another world. Bernstein Professor was grumbling about that.
As a backup for when the creatures of this world go extinct, it seems that the divine beings have sent pairs of various living things to different other worlds, like Noah’s ark. This could explain why dragons and centaurs appear in Earth’s mythology.
What if there are also humans among them? According to Professor, humans in this world and the humans on Earth are biologically the same species. The fact that they can normally leave descendants seems to suggest that. In other words, are otherworld humans also Homo sapiens?
However, in this world, it seems that even dragons, spirits, and gods can have offspring with each other. Sorry, Professor, but biological knowledge might not apply in this fantasy otherworld.

Just as I was about to slowly return to the building after solving the mystery of the sacred beast, I saw light like a spirit flame gently floating through the surrounding forest. My skin crawled involuntarily.
My Searching skill detects nothing; it seems there is no physical form. Could it be a ghost-type monster? In the game I played long ago, such creatures were immune to physical attacks and could only be damaged by magic or weapons imbued with magic.
The mysterious light continues to rise into the sky one after another. Did it not notice me, or was it an inactive monster? It could also be just a natural phenomenon like St. Elmo’s fire.
Feeling scared that it might be a real ghost rather than a monster, I hurried back to the building. Just at that moment, a girl with a candlestick appeared at the entrance. The warm candlelight was somehow reassuring.
For a moment, her figure floating in the darkness looked like Ms. Nina.
