Volume 5 Chapter 16 Duke’s Daughter

The flickering candlelight makes it hard to see her face clearly, but the girl in front of me resembles Ms. Nina. She’s wearing Ms. Nina’s clothes, and her build is almost identical, so that’s probably why.
”My name is Tizzy Kuna Bi Mineley. First, let me thank you. Your actions this time were commendable.”
A harsh voice that instantly blew away my illusion. A typical arrogant noble, I suppose.
No, she probably doesn’t even realize how arrogant she’s acting. It’s troublesome because she just thinks that if you’re not a noble, you’re not even human.
The other day, I saw a shocking scene in the royal capital.
A kind-hearted lady was trying to send a boy, who had scraped his knee, in her carriage. I smiled without thinking, thinking it was such a heartwarming sight. But as the carriage tried to turn, a passing girl got caught in the wheel.
The girl was somewhat careless, but the carriage’s abrupt turn was too sudden. Fortunately, the girl’s life was not in danger, but she still got her arm badly cut by the wheel’s metal parts and bled quite a bit.
The lady, seeing the bleeding girl, furrowed her brow and shouted,
”Quickly remove that trash! This child is injured!”
I couldn’t believe my ears. The “trash” the lady was referring to was the girl lying there, bleeding, and the boy, whom she was worried about, had only a minor scratch that could be healed with a little spit.
As I pulled the girl from under the wheel, the carriage sped away.
While stopping the bleeding on the girl’s wound with Healing Touch, I was thinking.
Why would a woman who cries over a boy’s scraped knee not even care about the girl’s wound? The boy is a noble, and the girl is a commoner. It’s just a difference in status.
It’s easy for me, a person from another world, to criticize the social class system in this world.
But aren’t I just the same? I get along with wolves, but I hunt quails as prey. Where do you draw the line? It’s a matter of individual values, isn’t it?
In other words, that’s what it is.

According to Miss Floria, education, for better or worse, makes nobles.
Many nobles in this world live in extremely limited human relationships, in what is called a cloistered state, which inevitably narrows their field of vision. Surprisingly, there are many nobles who cannot read or write; they do not read books at all.
There is no compulsory education, and family tutors focus on teaching etiquette and manners, resulting in the creation of arrogant nobles who do not even consider others as human beings.
Of course, there are also people like Ms. Nina and Miss Floria who have thoroughly studied, but they are a minority.
As for me, I don’t want to deal with troublesome nobles, so I’ve avoided getting involved with them as much as possible until now. This time, it can’t be helped because of the circumstances, and since she’s the lover of the summoned Hero Mr. Shirakaba, I was a little hopeful that she might be a noble who can communicate, but…
”Your numerous impurities, which would never be discarded by a person from another world, shall be forgiven exceptionally out of respect for your achievements.”
She really seems like a troublesome young lady; I wish I had revived Ms. Gigas instead. That might have been a hundred times better.
”Haa.”
I let out a sigh-like response without thinking. Even though I’ve been taught proper etiquette for dealing with nobles by Ms. Nina, it seems troublesome or even foolish. No one is watching, so I wish they would turn a blind eye, especially since I’m a lifesaver.
”Haa, that’s not it. In front of a noble person, one should kneel respectfully; it’s truly lamentable. It seems your doll princess has not been taught proper etiquette.”
I was planning to just brush off the self-centered young lady, but I got angry when Ms. Nina was made a fool of.
The status of a summoned Hero is considered to be on par with nobles to some extent, but according to Miss Floria, there are some privileges, or rather, loopholes. It’s like being outside the class system or not being strictly applied. To put it strongly, even if a summoned Hero were to talk back to the king, they wouldn’t be punished for it. I bet a summoned Hero must have caused a lot of trouble in the past.
So, let’s just say something bold here legally.
”Honestly, ignorance is truly lamentable. The daughter of a rural Duke seems unable to even say a word of thanks to her benefactor.”
I said it. I said it with a sense of gratitude.
”Ahahaha, calling me country Duke is quite an apt description~desuwa.”
Huh? It doesn’t seem like she’s angry.
”You’re the second person to speak so arrogantly after knowing I’m the Duke’s daughter. You have quite some guts, just as Schulz, who looks up to you as a master.”
So Schulz’s interactions were being observed too. The terrifying thing about fixed magic. People tend to let their guard down, thinking it’s just a motionless doll, but it’s fully conscious and can recognize everything around it. There are other ways to create a stationary statue, yet Schulz indulges in such bad taste.
Fixed magic even has a strong healing effect, and even if the mind breaks, it seems to be instantly restored. To not even be able to go mad, to be eternally frozen in place, how terrifying.
”Sir Shirakaba and you, it seems there are some exceptional individuals in this world. There are not a few trivial people trying to get into the Duke’s family, so I ended up doing something foolish. Please forgive my rudeness toward my benefactor.”
Her attitude changed as if she flipped her hand. Her voice is still harsh, but if you didn’t know her previous attitude, she’d seem like a normal cute young lady.
I wonder if she’s finally recognized me as a person? Her tone became quite casual. Nobles don’t always use formal language; they usually speak quite casually among themselves.
She probably knows about my relationship with Schulz and decided that being hostile isn’t a good idea.

A gust of wind passed by, blowing out the candle flame. Even though it seemed like there was no wind outside, the air was actually moving quite a bit. It would be tough without a lamp with a shade; a lantern could be easily made, though.
Even wrapped in darkness, the Duke’s daughter, who called herself Tizzy, didn’t panic at all and lit a light magic at the tip of her finger.
”It seems mana is recovering steadily, all thanks to you~desuwa. Saving the imprisoned princess from the dragon, you’re just like the hero of a fairy tale.”
The magic of illumination is also a derived skill from the life skill, but the one she used is probably from the light magic series. It is also quite advanced. It can purify minor Corruption or even have the effect of driving away petty evil spirits.
This guy has quite a high level.
Not all nobles are low-level. Ms. Nina’s original Auroora princess also seems to be quite high-level.
By raising your level a bit and increasing your HP, you become more resistant to sickness and injury, so even among villagers, there are many who do a little level-up.
