Volume 5 Chapter 18-2 The Beautiful Man In Men’s Clothing

I breathed a sigh of relief, but Ms. Shirakaba’s condition suddenly changed. Her face flushed, she began breathing heavily, and then she collapsed.
”Are you okay? Maybe the effects of the earlier incident haven’t fully worn off. You should rest now.”
When I offered a hand, Ms. Shirakaba clung to me, but then she suddenly trembled as if in discomfort.
She feels very warm—maybe a sudden fever? She was fine just a moment ago.
If it’s a contagious illness, she needs to be isolated. Even with the magic undone, could she still be placed in a safe area?
I checked Ms. Shirakaba’s pulse as she lay on the floor. My diagnostic skill showed no abnormalities. If it’s not an illness, maybe it’s some kind of magical effect? But I don’t sense any strange energy.
”There’s no need to worry. Ms. Shirakaba is experiencing a strong emotional reaction.”
Tizzy said cheerfully. An emotional reaction? Does that mean she’s just overwhelmed, not sick? Well, Ms. Shirakaba, blushing and fidgeting, doesn’t exactly look ill, but still… that can’t be right.
”It’s understandable. After all, she was deeply cared for by you while unable to move—and by her own clone. Just being supported by you makes her heart react like this.”
”Don’t say that…”
Ms. Shirakaba pleaded in a weak, shy voice.
Could that really be true? My actions were meant to help, not to cause any discomfort. Is it just being misinterpreted as something else?
I thought such misunderstandings were beyond me. Even though I didn’t mean to, knowing my actions brought her some comfort… it’s kind of nice.
This is unexpected. Maybe I have the potential to be more empathetic than I thought.
”Ahh, shy Ms. Shirakaba is also wonderful. Seeing her like this makes me want to support her even more. How kind you are.”
Watching Ms. Shirakaba struggle and breathe heavily, Tizzy smiled warmly. Is she some kind of naturally caring person?
”Ms. Shirakaba, you’ve come to admire Sir Amada, haven’t you?”
No, no, no, that’s definitely not it.
I’m a helper, sure, but all I did was focus on assisting her while working with her clone. I’d understand if she felt grateful, but there’s nothing more to it.
”Well, it’s like… you know, a person admiring another person’s kindness.”
Ms. Shirakaba blushes as she says that.
What is this? I’m not confused, so I get it.
Being admired doesn’t make me uncomfortable, but Ms. Shirakaba’s a genuine person—an incredibly kind individual… Huh? Maybe I’m a little touched. Ah, but it’s complicated. I don’t fully understand.
Ms. Shirakaba shyly averts her eyes when she meets mine.
Seeing that, Tizzy smiles and relaxes. Apparently, it’s her *heartwarming* trigger.
”Wonderful! Ms. Shirakaba, let’s continue to support Sir Amada together!!”
Eh, that again? You hadn’t given up on being helpful?
”Tizzy, have you gotten over your hesitation to trust others?”
”Well, it’s strange, but I don’t feel any discomfort toward Sir Amada. And if I’m with him, I don’t think I’ll ever feel alone.”
”Amada, no way? You’re a woman?”
Hey, why would you think that?
Ms. Shirakaba gives me a doubtful look. There’s no way this kind person is a woman. I’ve been taking care of my appearance properly every morning.
I haven’t seen a proper mirror since coming to this world, but reflections in polished tools show me as strong and fit. In my imagination, I have a kind, approachable face like a friendly neighbor.
”Sorry, I need to confirm if you’re truly who you seem. Otherwise, I won’t know how to express my gratitude.”
Suddenly, Ms. Shirakaba gently sat beside me and looked at me intently. Despite her small frame, she’s incredibly determined. She’s a caring class—an Advanced Paladin, after all. No matter how much I try, I can’t match her sincerity.
I try to stand, but Tizzy sits beside me as well. I forgot she’s also very dedicated.
”Whether you’re a man or a woman, I respect you, Sir Amada.”
Tizzy’s warm smile lands on me. Ms. Shirakaba’s gratitude seems to have spread to her too.
This feels oddly familiar. Back in the Valley of Trials, Uno’s kindness spread to the surrounding people, and I ended up feeling supported, just like that. But when I was with Uno and the others, it was mutual respect.
”If you’re a woman, you’re our friend. If you’re a man… you’re our protector.”
Ms. Shirakaba gently but firmly began to express her gratitude with her words.
I think I understand how someone being appreciated might feel.
If I seriously resisted, I still have a few ways to explain, but as they say, “Don’t refuse kindness offered to you.”
Huh? In this case, am I the one being appreciated?
