Volume 14 Chapter 54 Defeat

 *Lina’s perspective

”Everyone, hurry! We need to reunite with Delprius-san and Kerstin-san quickly!!”

I was really worried about Kent, whom I’d left behind, but I figured everyone retreating with me felt the same. So, I stayed quiet and focused on joining Delprius-san and Kerstin-san, who were probably fighting “another world monsters” outside.

Space was already collapsing, and they might’ve retreated near the exit. That meant we’d have to run through a group of those monsters.

 ”Lina! You’re panicking too much!”

”Sis, we can’t afford to panic. Delprius-san and Kerstin-san might’ve already retreated to the entrance, you know?”

 ”Uuu…”

My sister complained, but my legs felt like lead, slowing me down. Seeing this, Master Carlamia scooped us up without a word and started running.

Master’s magic was exhausted, but as both a mage and warrior, she had the strength to keep going. She’d joined us as a bodyguard, sensing Kent’s worry for our retreat.

 ”Master Carlamia… I’m sorry.”

”Once you both return safely, we’ll work on your stamina. If you stay like this, you won’t be able to complete your union with Kent-sama safely.”

”Being made to unite with Kent-sama… ha, ha…”

”Master, please don’t tease my sister anymore.”

 ”Sorry. I didn’t mean to.”

”We’re almost at the exit. Stay alert.”

It was worth keeping up the run. I made it back to the large, torn door—the exit of the central control room. Luckily, no monsters chased us, so Kent and the others must’ve been buying us time.

 Master Carlamia carried me outside.

It took a moment for my eyes to adjust after leaving the dim building. When I could see, the scene outside was terrifying. Lightning flashed constantly, and in some places, spatial maintenance had failed. Black, lightless areas—gaps between dimensions—were spreading.

”This is really bad. The gaps between dimensions are visible. Collapse is just a matter of time.”

Panic rose as I stared at the pitch-black void expanding in the sky, swallowing all light.

The collapse is happening too fast. If we’re not careful, it might all crumble at once.

Everyone with me held their breath at the sight.

”For now, we need to join Delprius-san and Kerstin-san! Be careful—there might still be ‘another world monsters’ around.”

Monster remains were scattered, but I saw no enemy corpses, so we’d probably repelled them successfully.

We ran toward the entrance and soon found Delprius-san and Kerstin-san healing their wounds.

”Lina! What happened to Kent? And why is it so noisy above?”

Delprius-san, in tattered clothes, rushed over. She’d clearly fought hard to repel the monsters blocking the control room.

Kerstin-san, in damaged armor, hurried toward us, eager to understand the situation.

”What’s going on? Is this space unraveling? Are Kent and the others still inside?”

The two, confused, anxiously questioned me.

”Calm down! First, a message from Kent-sama: We’ve been ordered to capture the escaped giant at all costs. That guy’s the source of all ‘another world monsters.’ If it reaches the Grimoire side, the world will end. Kent-sama instructed us to ensure it doesn’t escape. Contact the Margrave South District army immediately and block the Abyss Gate! This is Kent-sama’s highest order.”

”I understand, but why isn’t Kent-sama here? What’s he doing inside?”

”Kent-sama is fighting some monster as a knight. But rescue can wait. His order is to seal the entrance. If you defy it, you’ll never serve again.”

”But… for the king himself to go…”

Hearing Kent-sama was acting as a knight, they wanted to rush to his aid, but I insisted on following his order to secure the entrance.
