Volume 14 Chapter 56 Kent’s Feelings
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
*Kent’s Perspective
I landed hard on the ground, feeling the cold air against my skin. When I opened my eyes, I saw a giant standing nearby, looking distressed. At its feet, the Beast Monster of the End—now merged with both giants—was rotting away.
I was lying there, completely naked. My weapons and armor must have been dissolved when I fused with the creature. I had nothing, just thrown out like this.
”Kent! Why are you here, at such a bad time, and naked!”
Delprius, who had stopped her dragon transformation, dodged the giant’s attack and rushed to my side. Even though she’s used to seeing me like this, she looked a bit embarrassed. I wanted to joke, but there was no time.
”Sorry, no time for that. Use this chance to attack the giant as much as you can.”
The giant roared in pain as its flesh rotted. From inside, Iska was pushed out—naked, just like her original self, freed from the creature’s control.
”Iska’s out too. Rosvita, quickly bring everyone’s clothes and gear!”
After Iska, Milly, Feria, Annabella, Aurelia, and Ines were pushed out one by one from the rotting flesh.
The giant kept crying in pain, but it was Vanquish’s soul causing the torment.
”Sir Kent… Hah!”
Annabella and Milly, realizing they were naked, quickly tried to cover themselves.
Rosvita and the others, waiting near the gate with the Margrave South District army, handed out clothes and gear. Everyone dressed hurriedly.
”Kent, Kerstin and the others are running out of ammo. And look at that.”
Delprius pointed to a spreading black void. The alternate dimension was almost swallowed by it, except for the area near the gate. The darkness was creeping toward us.
”This is bad. This place will be swallowed soon. Once Kerstin and the others run out of ammo, they should retreat. Also, bring all the healing and magic recovery potions you can.”
”Supplies are almost gone. The items you asked for are already used up.”
Most of Delprius and the Black Wing members had retreated, leaving only a few. In their place, the top Hunting Group’s Monster Hunters stepped in to help Kerstin and the others.
The army at the rear looked exhausted, and their supplies were running low.
”Damn, it’s still not enough… we brought so much.”
Even the healing potions, brought in triple the expected amount, weren’t enough.
Maybe because the army outside fought so hard. Healing couldn’t damage the enemy. Kerstin and the others ran out of ammo, and near the gate, only sword clashes could be heard. The Monster Hunters’ magic was gone, and those who could use magic attacks had retreated.
”Sorry. We have no more attacks, so we’ll fall back… It’s frustrating, but I don’t want to hold you back anymore.”
The Black Bullet members, covered in dirt and fluids, looked disappointed. They’d been fighting ‘another world monsters’ even before entering.
”It’s fine. Fall back and protect our retreat with the army.”
”Sorry.”
”It’s fine. It’s time. I’ll order everyone to retreat.”
The space collapse sped up, so I ordered a retreat from the alternate dimension. The gate was narrowing, and if we stayed, we’d be trapped in the darkness.
”I’ll handle the giant, so escape quickly! Vanquish’s soul can’t hold on much longer!”
Iska, after eating the giant’s flesh, regained the Beast Monster’s power. Unlike before, she kept the giant under control while staying conscious.
Before that, the Monster Hunters, carrying weapons and wounded, rushed past. Everyone was injured, fighting beyond their limits.
Each Monster Hunter nodded at Iska and me as they dashed toward the gate. It seemed the lord’s group had little chance of escaping.
Facing the giant, the only way to seal it was to find an opening and jump through the gate.
”Kent, you can escape quickly too! I think I can hold this one off until the end. Go ahead and wait!”
Iska, suppressing the giant, urged me to escape with her eyes. But I refused.
Vanquish used her soul to separate us from the giant. If we don’t escape together, it would dishonor her sacrifice.
Sensing my feelings, Milly and the others, with spare weapons, prepared to face the giant.
”Kent, we’re all going together, right?”
”Yeah, sorry, but I’m selfish. You’ll have to stick with me until the end.”
”I know. Since I decided to be your wife, I’ve always known.”
Milly gently touched my shoulder. There was no hesitation on her face, and Annabella and the others felt the same. Everyone shared my thoughts.
”I’m sorry. But I’ll borrow everyone’s strength.”
We all vowed to survive and return to Grimoire.
’In that case, I’ll return to the cycle of reincarnation. Do your best while I’m gone.’
Vanquish’s soul whispered in my mind one last time. The giant roared, enveloped in dark miasma.
