*Iska’s Perspective
”Are you Kent’s wife? If you call yourself that, show some courage, like the kids from Crimson Bride. They’re ready to give their lives for Kent.”
”I know. But I love Kent so much I can’t bear to lose him.”
”Then step up. Fight in a way that doesn’t shame my descendant. I served Orphée Bleu as the Beast King and was the greatest warrior. You should serve Kent as a strong warrior too.”
Vanquish’s words stirred my resolve. I want to stand by Kent’s side as his protector, not in this fake life, but in the real world, living with him and Ms. Milly, laughing together. Living for Rosalinda, Heta, and the children of Rootless Weed who are gone.
Live long, have many children, and make Rosalinda proud. That’s it. I can’t hide here anymore.
”Sorry, I was scared. I wasn’t myself.”
”You’re leaving first, but I won’t give up anymore, okay?”
”No, I won’t. Everyone’s always with me.”
It’s sad Vanquish will be gone, but I can remember her anytime. Rosalinda, Heta, everyone—they’re all here in my memories, giving me strength.
I’m ashamed of how weak I’ve been. Not realizing they were so close and running away…
When I decided to face the monster, it felt like Vanquish gently patted my head.
”Alright, let me make my last act count.”
That was Vanquish’s final whisper, and I was wrapped in a white light.

*Kent’s Perspective
It felt like being submerged in warm water, enveloping my whole body. I chose to fight this monster to stop it from escaping, but it overpowered me, and I was about to be absorbed.
Only my consciousness remains, but I can’t move. It seems I share its field of vision as we rush toward the gate.
Most of the space is collapsing, buildings falling one after another. Through the broken roofs, lightning flashes in the sky.
After a while, we reached the gate’s entrance. A giant like the one that fled earlier and many Monster Hunters, including the Margrave South District army, were fighting together.
The battle intensified. With the arrival of the beast, the giant merged with the two beasts. Its consciousness began to flow into me.
’We’ve finally merged. How does it feel? Why not live with Iska and Milly forever? It’d be fun, right?’
”Not enough. I’d rather enjoy the real world. I’d appreciate it if you let me out soon.”
’The real world? This isn’t the world you belong to, is it? This is the discarded world of Grimoire, created by those who worship that foolish god. It’s laughable. You’re so naive. There’s nothing real here.’
”A discarded world?”
’Yes. This world was made by the Celestial Kingdom to dump its failures. Orphée Bleu, the god’s sibling, must have rushed to bring the Celestial Kingdom’s residents here. It’s a trash world, a place for experiments with life forms they created to test their ideas. That’s Grimoire’s truth.’
Hearing this, I couldn’t help but laugh.
”Huh! A discarded world! That foolish god! She left this mess to me. Of course, she gave me power and made it convenient.”
The creature seemed surprised by my laughter, hesitating slightly.
’Why are you laughing? The Fairy race, with their advanced tech, discarded their bodies. The Garuda Clan, like Iska, was given dangerous powers like the beast. Even I, merged with a creature, was dumped here by the Celestial Kingdom. We’re all failures from their experiments.’
”So what? It doesn’t matter to me. I’m living here, even if Grimoire’s a trash world. No matter what, I won’t let you destroy the world where my family is.”
’Such a carefree mindset is annoying.’
”I won’t let your madness ruin the world I protected by defeating Orphée Bleu.”
’Hmph, but you can’t do anything now. Just watch.’
The creature poured anger into my consciousness. Then, another consciousness flowed into me—Vanquish. I’d felt her presence when I merged with Iska before.
Vanquish spoke to me.
’Kent Blackdagger. I’m taking over this creature’s consciousness, so strike now. And about Iska, I’m counting on you.’
”Huh? What do you mean?”
’Sorry, no time.’
After that, Vanquish’s consciousness merged with the creature’s. A voice filled with pain began to leak out.
