Volume 4 Chapter 65 The Sound Of The Sea Floor
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
We successfully defeated the Guardian Sea Serpent.
We shared a happy moment, enjoying the feeling of victory, and then we sailed toward the underwater tower on the next floor.
In front of the tower, a huge shadow caught our eyes.
We got off the ship and looked at its giant body once more.
It was a massive creature with shiny blue scales and a flowing golden mane. The sea serpent’s body lay like a mountain, completely still.
Its turquoise eyes were closed, and it showed no signs of life. It was definitely dead.
”Isn’t this… too good to just leave behind?”
Yomi said quietly.
I agreed. This kind of material is something we won’t find again easily.
Normally, we don’t collect all the materials from defeated monsters.
We only take the really useful parts and leave the rest.
But this is different.
It’s not like the ordinary monsters that appear over and over.
This was a legendary boss, undefeated for over a hundred years. It’s one of a kind.
Even in death, it still feels powerful and majestic.
People say a dragon’s entire body is valuable. Not just its scales, but its bones, flesh, organs, and even blood are all useful.
If that’s true, this rare and powerful Sea Serpent must be even more valuable than an ordinary dragon. It’s hard to imagine how much.
”These scales are incredibly hard!”
Kéa hit the Sea Serpent with her sword, making a loud metallic sound.
It could be pierced by Yomi’s magic or a magic cannon, but other methods seem difficult.
”The mane also feels highly compatible with magic power.”
Lifia looked at the golden mane and explained.
Clearly, every part is valuable.
There should be useful materials for us too. If we turn them into weapons, they could make us stronger in battle.
But we can’t tell how each part can be used or what it might become.
It looks like we’ll need to ask the smith Beckus for help.
For now, we have no choice but to store it whole.
I opened ‘Love Hotel’ and added a new room.
This is a new motel, separate from where the pirate ship is stored. Let’s use it as a storage space.
”Rozmiaque, please.”
”Yes, leave it to me!”
As Rozmiaque cast the spell, vine-like tendrils stretched out.
They wrapped tightly around the sea serpent’s massive body and dragged it into the motel’s entrance.
The huge body, about a hundred meters long, was being pulled inside.
At first, it seemed like it would never fit, but as the serpent was pushed in, the motel’s interior expanded naturally. The space grew deeper, and eventually, a large area like a ship dock appeared.
In the center of it all, the sea serpent’s body was placed.
The motel, which was thought to be only for vehicles, could also be used as a warehouse. That’s helpful.
Now, what should I do with this?
”Can we dismantle it?”
I asked the sailors, Brownie and the others, to try.
But the fairies looked at each other and shook their heads. Dismantling the sea serpent is beyond their skills. It’s not like cleaning the fish they usually catch.
Well, it’s fine. We can store it for a while. Maybe we’ll find a use for it later.
I adjusted the air conditioning settings, lowering the temperature and humidity as much as possible.
This should prevent any worries about it decaying.
After storing the sea serpent’s body in the motel, we looked up at the tower rising from the sandy seabed.
It’s a tall tower. If you look up, it goes through the water’s surface and keeps rising, eventually disappearing into the sky.
At the base of the tower, a dark, open entrance leads to stairs going down. We’ll probably go to the next floor, the 6th Floor, from there.
From the 1st to 4th Floors of the dungeon, the structure went deep underground. However, from the 4th to the 5th Floors, and from here to the 6th Floor, the stairs go upward. Maybe we passed a turning point on the 4th Floor.
If that’s true, then what lies ahead is the second half of the dungeon.
And beyond this point is a place no one has ever explored. We will be the first to see it. My heart is racing.
”There is nothing here…”
Kéa said this, looking around casually. She’s a relaxed kind of person.
”What’s wrong?”
”We defeated the boss, right? There should be a treasure chest or something!”
Now that I think about it, that’s true.
We got good items when we defeated the mid-boss pirate captain. Since we took down the floor boss, there should be something good again.
With that in mind, I pulled out a golden compass from my pocket──a magic tool called the ‘Spirit-Seekers’ Compass.’ This thing is great at finding monsters and treasure chests.
I poured magic into it, and the compass needle spun around before stopping to point at one spot.
The direction it pointed to was a sandy plain; at first glance, it looked like just an empty sandy area.
”Could it be where the Sea Serpent was?”
Lifia asked.
That’s right. The big snake was coiled up and appeared to be sleeping with its eyes closed in front of the tower. The place the needle is pointing is around there. The Sea Serpent might have been guarding both the stairs to the next floor and the treasure chest.
And sometimes, the treasure chests on this floor are buried and hidden under the sand.
”Alright then, Lifia, give it a try.”
”Yes, Master.”
