Volume 4 Chapter 66 The Heat Of Hell And The Light Of Blessing

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

We kept climbing the stairs quietly.

The stone stairs twisted and seemed to go on forever. We had no idea how high we’d climbed or where we were.

Inside the tower, it was dim, with no light coming in from outside. There were no windows, so we couldn’t see the sky. Only the moss on the walls gave off a faint glow.

Being stuck inside like this slowly made us feel uneasy.

We must have gone past the sea’s surface by now, but we couldn’t be sure.

Looking back, the tower just looked like a simple stone pillar from the outside, with no windows at all.

There was no view to enjoy. All we had was the never-ending stairs and the sound of our breathing.

Along the way, we stopped at the Love Hotel a few times to rest. Without those breaks, it would have been really hard on our minds.

I had a silly thought──maybe I could let Kéa do the climbing and just relax at the Love Hotel.

But I didn’t want to make her do all the work.

Also, when we reached new places, I wanted to see everything for myself right away.

That’s why I kept climbing on my own.

Yomi probably felt the same. Even though she was complaining, she kept climbing one step at a time.

Finally, light started to appear at the top of the stairs. I climbed faster, trying not to get too excited.

And then, I reached the tower’s exit.

The view opened up in front of me.

 ”Wow!”

I couldn’t help but say something out loud.

 What I saw was unbelievable.

 ”Master…”

 ”This is insane.”

 ”It’s on fire!”

Lifia and the others were just as shocked by the view.

It really looked like a hellish world.

There were no plants, just endless rocky ground that looked burned.

Sharp ridges, crumbling cliffs, and cracked rocks were everywhere.

It was a harsh, empty place that seemed to push people away.

But even this empty land wasn’t the biggest problem.

The strange thing was the stuff flowing between the rocks.

Cracks were everywhere, and magma—red and black—poured out of them.

The lava moved like a river, twisting and turning, giving off heat and light.

In some spots, there were pools of lava, bubbling and popping as they boiled.

It went on as far as you could see.

Everything was stained red. It felt like the whole world was boiling.

In the hot, heavy air, I looked up suddenly. And again, I was speechless.

High above, maybe hundreds or even thousands of meters up, lava flowed on the black rock ceiling.

 But it didn’t fall down.

It stuck to the ceiling, flowing against gravity, and rained red light from the sky.

It was a crazy sight, breaking all the rules of nature. A strange, confusing place.

This showed how different the dungeon was from the normal world.

When I looked far away, I saw a shadow moving beyond the heat. A huge creature was flying in the sky.

It was a winged monster, probably a dragon.

Dragons are feared as disaster-level monsters, able to destroy whole towns with their power.

There were several dragons flying together.

The heat was so intense that just standing there felt like it would burn my lungs. The hot wind stung my skin. One wrong step, and the lava below would melt even bones. And then, there were the dangerous monsters.

This was the 6th floor of the dungeon.

A completely unexplored place, never seen by humans before. A hellish world of heat and chaos.

It was terrifying. I broke out in cold sweat from fear.

But at the same time, something inside me was excited.

I felt scared, but also thrilled, like my blood was boiling.

 Scary, but interesting.

This was a world no one had ever seen. A place no one had reached, and I was stepping into it.

I felt a joy deep in my heart.

* * *

A sharp clang echoed through the air.

 ”Nnnyahhh!?”

Kéa let out a strange scream.

She jumped back, moving away from the red dragon.

 I quickly stepped forward.

To help Kéa, I drew the dragon’s attention to me. I swung my sword at its neck.

An ugly squeal pierced the air, and a jolt shot up my arm.

My sword didn’t cut through. It’s a famous sword, but I’d never felt this before, even cutting rock. The dragon’s scales were harder than metal.

 ”Kuh, retreat!”

 ”Yes!”

 ”Understood! Mana Weave!”

Right as I decided, Yomi finished her spell.

A glowing net-like barrier appeared between us and the dragon.

The dragon charged and hit the barrier.

There was a loud crash, but Yomi’s barrier held strong. Just as expected.

The dragon opened its mouth, and light gathered inside.

 It’s going to breathe fire!

 ”Mooluumve, Wind Wall!”

Lifia cast a spell, creating a wind wall.

A swirling wind rose up, forming a thick barrier in front of us.

Right away, the dragon breathed out blazing fire.

The wind wall caught it and pushed it back.

 ”Now! Hurry!”

We quickly ran into the Love Hotel’s door.

Inside, the lobby was cool and safe. We closed the door and finally relaxed. It was cool in here.

 ”Ha… that was close.”

 ”I didn’t think a dragon would be that tough. It’s a monster…”

My friends muttered one after another.

 ”Yeah, it is.”

I replied, wiping sweat from my face.

We tried fighting it for fun, but it was a really strong enemy. It’s much harder than anything we’ve faced before.

When we reached the 6th Floor, our first target was a wyvern flying in the sky. It’s a long, thin dragon-like monster with wings instead of front legs.

I thought it was fast but weak in attack and defense.

Our plan was to hit it with Yomi’s light magic and knock it down.

But even after we hit it, it didn’t fall.

The wounded wyvern roared and attacked us.

Kéa and I fought it with our swords.

Its scales were tough, but we could cut through them.

We defeated it, but it took longer than we thought. It wasted our time and energy.

And because we spent too much time, another enemy came near. That enemy was a red dragon.

It had a huge body with giant wings and red scales, gliding toward us.

Kéa instinctively stepped forward and swung her sword, but the blade just bounced off with a metallic sound. That’s what happened.

Before, we fought dragon zombies on the ground.

They were tough too, but this enemy was even stronger.

A living dragon. It attacked us with its own will and strength.

Its scales were like a wall of iron.

Our blades couldn’t cut through them at all.

With our weak equipment and power, we couldn’t fight back. That was clear to us.

Now that I think about it…

 ”Kéa, what happened earlier?”
