Volume 4 Chapter 65-2 The Sound Of The Sea Floor

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Lifia raised one hand and started chanting.

Wind gathered in front of her, where a treasure chest was thought to be. The wind spun around, forming a tornado that lifted sand from the seabed into the air. The strong, clear storm of wind covered everything in a cloud of white sand and dust.

After a while, the wind stopped, and the dust settled.

Now, we could see a large, round hole in the ground, like a crater. It looked as if something huge had fallen from the sky.

And at the bottom of that hole, there it was── a treasure chest.

We climbed down into the crater.

We noticed something strange about the treasure chest. It was very big.

Big enough for a person to fit inside. I wondered if the contents were also that large or if there was a lot of stuff inside.

As we got closer and looked more carefully, it was indeed very large. But it was also beautiful, with detailed decorations and a shiny gold color.

I’ve seen treasure chests before, but this one was more beautiful and impressive than the others.

We carefully checked the treasure chest. There was no magic or anything suspicious. We didn’t find any traps either.

 It looks safe.

I took a deep breath and opened the latch.

The golden lid made a soft sound as it opened, slowly revealing what was inside.

 Inside was──

 ”…a musical instrument?”

Carefully placed at the bottom of the treasure chest was a stringed instrument. It looked delicate and beautifully made.

It was very large, almost as tall as a person. It seemed like it was meant to be played on the floor.

The frame was a light blue color, like silver. It had a unique texture, not like metal or wood, and it shimmered softly in the faint underwater light.

There were many strings, shining like clear golden threads.

It had smooth, elegant curves, decorated to look like waves. There were also designs that looked like shells, and the whole instrument had a sea-inspired look.

I’m not an expert on instruments, but it seems to be a harp.

 ”Beautiful…”

Lifia and the others were also amazed by its beauty.

I wanted to try it right away, but first I needed to check what it was. Items from dungeon treasure chests can sometimes be cursed.

I took out the Appraisal Mirror from my magic bag and held it up to the harp.

The result appeared in the mirror.

 ────────────────

 ’Siren’s Harp (Abyssal Hymn)’

 Type: magic instrument

Ability: Manipulates the target’s emotions and mental state.

Note: Effects scale with the user’s musical skill.

 ────────────────

So, it’s a tool that controls the mind.

For now, there’s no sign of a curse. The result didn’t show anything dangerous either.

 It seems safe to use.

But, how useful will it actually be?

It controls emotions, but can it really change the outcome of a fight?

It could make enemies fall asleep or feel scared.

However, the player can’t defend themselves while playing. And because it’s so big… Even though I can store it in my magic bag, it’s impossible to move around while playing. It’s not very practical.

It might be useful for personal fun.

It could make girls feel excited.

But there’s a big problem. “Effects scale with the user’s musical skill.” In other words, I can’t use it. Too bad.

Well, I guess… I have Lifia and the others. They’ll let me have fun without needing this tool. Yeah, I don’t need the harp’s help.

Anyway, I can’t think of any real use for it.

Still, this was a treasure protected by the dungeon’s Guardian, the Sea Serpent.

It must have some special abilities. It’s worth hoping it can do more than what’s written.

If the right conditions are met, it might show incredible power. Let’s hope for that.

Well, whatever. I can try out this harp later.

Right now, I want to keep moving.

I put the harp in my magic bag. It’s a huge instrument, but I was able to store it without any trouble.

 I turned toward the tower.

A huge stone tower stood quietly at the bottom of the sea.

It wasn’t very wide, but it was incredibly tall. It went from the seafloor to the surface and then up into the sky. I had no idea how tall it was.

”Do we have to climb all of this? It’s going to be hard on our legs.”

Yomi frowned as she looked up.

Even with our stronger bodies from leveling up, it’s still a tough climb.

But, we have no choice. We have to go.

 ”I’ll do my best!”

”I’m fine! I’ll do it with all my energy!”

 Lifia said bravely.

And Kéa, who seemed fine. If it comes to it, I’ll rely on her.

”Well, if you get tired, we can take breaks along the way. Let’s go.”

I smiled and started walking. My friends followed behind me.

No matter where we are, we can rest whenever we want. That’s my ‘Love Hotel’ skill. Thanks to this skill, we were able to conquer the 5th Floor of the dungeon, ‘Seafloor of Shadow Waves.’

With ‘Love Hotel’ and my friends, I can go anywhere.

The tower is made of rough stone, and the stairs are also stone. Inside, it’s dimly lit, with a spiral staircase leading upward.

At the top of these stairs lies the 6th Floor of the dungeon. A place no one has ever reached. Uncharted territory. A blank on the map. A place not even mentioned in stories.

But we’re heading there. To a world no one knows. To a view no one has ever seen. That’s what awaits us.

With the quiet sound of the waves behind me, I began climbing the stairs.

Taro: “I’ve just started climbing this endlessly long dungeon slope…”
