Volume 6 Chapter 16 Villainess Volunteer

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Mubiel is a dark high-rank spirit and one of my wives. She’s also a master of sex magic. Black hair, seductive body—so hot even a succubus would cry.

Honestly, I don’t even think she’s that sexy. I mean, she’s a spirit of darkness. But it’s true that in this world, monsters like dream demons and night demons are usually dark-attribute, so I guess it’s not completely off. Even here, “night activities” are clearly understood. When the sun goes down, it’s adult time.

Spirits in this world are heavily influenced by how humans imagine them. Scholars say spirits and gods are basically born from the human mind. Like, if enough people believe in something, it starts existing. Classic magic bullsh\*t.

(Power) strength spirits are gods, and gods are said to create the world. But humans created the gods with imagination and faith. That’s the common theory now. Scholars are split into two big groups: one says gods came first, the other says early humans imagined gods into existence. Yeah, it’s the chicken or the egg argument, just dressed up in magic robes.

This argument’s been going on for centuries. When there’s no demon invasion, people even start actual wars over this crap. That’s how boring the world can get.

At one point, the new school of thought had the upper hand. But when the goddess gave people wall barley or whatever, the old sect gained momentum. Then fanatics like the Grace Knights pulled dumb stunts, lost public support, and the new school started spreading again.

The countries that left the Anti-Demon Alliance are all part of the new sect now. According to Professor and Mr. Raoh, if the demons don’t come back soon, there might be a real world war—humans vs humans, two factions split down the middle.

We, the summoned Heroes, are under the Hero Management Bureau, so we’re stuck with the Alliance. But honestly, our allies are kind of trash. The enemy’s just as bad—pulling shady moves and using Alex as their puppet. From what I’ve seen, they’re actually worse than our guys, which is impressive in the worst way.

I used to think the world of swords and magic would be full of dreams and cool stuff, but it’s just politics and rotting old men in charge.

The key takeaway, for me at least, is that human imagination shapes gods and spirits. Meaning, spirits appear in forms ideal to the human who sees them.

That explains why my six Advanced Spirit wives are all absolute tens and somehow still fit my taste perfectly, despite being totally different types. Feels like a miracle.

Mubiel in particular has a Western vibe. Probably because that’s the ideal image here. Still, I think meeting me tweaked her appearance a bit. There’s no way someone’s skin and scent would be that on-point by default. Her body fits mine like a glove, and her personality? 100% my type.

Wait a sec. Nina and Floria are also ideal as women. Shea-Shea’s got her flaws, but lately even those seem kinda cute. Shirakaba and Tizzy are weirdos, but I still love them.

Hold on… is my strike zone growing? Was I always this much of a romantic? Did the other world change me, or did the spirits warp my heart?

Shea-Shea once told me a scary story about a spirit. A serious guy gets lost in a forest, meets a mischievous spirit, gets turned into a playboy, and ends up sealed in a tree hollow for hundreds of years. Eventually, a woodcutter chops it down and finds a mummy inside.

In the royal capital, there’s supposedly a display of a real human mummy fused with tree bark. Could be real, could be fairy tale. Either way, it’s not solid proof that spirits did it.

Even if my wives are just using me as a toy, I don’t really care. I’m this happy, and I’m living pleasures that not even noble harem lords get to experience.

I hold Mubiel’s soft, delicate body. She feels like a real woman, and even though she’s mature, she loves being hugged tightly. That gap is adorable. Her boobs aren’t huge, but they’re nicely shaped and gently pressed against me. Damn, it feels good. For a moment, I felt like I saw the universe. Maybe cuddling really is the path to enlightenment.

They say the core of bedroom techniques is the circle. When two people give to each other endlessly, it becomes an infinite loop or something. Like a mirror. In the end, it’s just sex, but with deep meaning. I suddenly remembered a phrase: “controlled fall.” Forgot what it originally meant, but it’s like—tiny changes in control make big results. Control is key.

If spirits reflect human hearts like mirrors, then good people shouldn’t be tricked by bad spirits. Me? I’m not a good guy. I’m not evil, but I’ve been mean to my sister and lied about homework. I guess I’m kinda bad. Just a bit bad. If I got tricked by a spirit, it’d be my fault.

Still, if Mubiel were pure and innocent, it’d be too much. The fun comes from her being a little bad—just like me.

For some reason, I clapped my hands together.

When I was a kid, I had a picture book from Japan. It said the right and left hand make different sounds. It compared them to dad and mom, and the ending said both were important.

That story’s based on the Zen riddle: “What’s the sound of one hand clapping?” There’s no answer. Thinking about it is the point. Brain yoga, basically.

”Is this some kind of charm?”

Mubiel clapped too. Mana flared up and scattered like light. As expected from a top-class spirit—her movement alone is magic. Raw, unshaped magic. No chant, no technique. No editor can recreate that.

”This is like a riddle from Earth, right? Which hand made the sound?”

Then she blushed and hugged me tight. Her reaction was so pure it caught me off guard. But it made me happy.

”I’m happy. It’s a riddle that says you want to be with me forever.”

Wow. Nice one. She’s smart too.

After some more wrestling (if you know what I mean), Mubiel asked me to tell her Earth stories as a bedtime tale. I tried to remember ones girls would like, but most of Earth’s famous books already exist here.

A Hero brought in a memory device packed with e-books. Earth’s stories are spreading like wildfire.

There’s less entertainment in this world, so books are popular. They’re expensive, but secondhand stores sometimes have cheap ones. The bigger issue is low literacy, but in cities, you’ve got people reading aloud at street stalls.

Publishers are raking in gold, printing everything they can from Earth. Romance novels were hot before, but now local authors are turning period TV shows into books, and those are selling like crazy. Maybe someone brought video data too.

”Do you know Romeo and Juliet?”

”Of course. Earth novels are pretty sensual, right?”

Sensual? When we did it as a school play, there was nothing like that. But I never read the original, so maybe the local version added steamy scenes. Nobles here love smut.

Now that I think about it, sneaking out at night just to talk sounds fake. They got married in secret too. In this world, people wouldn’t buy it unless there was action involved.

”I’m surprised you like books, Mubiel.”

”I don’t read myself. It’s rare for spirits to enjoy books, but some do. Some kids in human towns read a lot. We spirits can share memories.”

Oh, so that’s how it is. That explains how Uno and the others always seem to know everything about me. They’ve been sharing memories with Pii-Pii and Salamander. Wait, does that mean they all leveled up their bedroom skills from shared memories too?

”Some kids got too into human books. They’re a little… troubled. I want you to help them.”

No guy can refuse a favor from a girl he likes. A wife’s request is like a royal command. Of course, I’ll help.

Mubiel called something from the darkness. Long black limbs slithered out. In the center was a floating white face of a woman. This… looks more like a yokai than a spirit.

The body’s shape was hard to see in the dark, but it looked human from the neck down. The legs were long and elegant—model-like. But they were stupidly long. The knees were higher than my head. Her proportions were like 30 heads tall. Overkill.

 ”I am… a shadow assassin…”

Her voice echoed like it came from the bottom of a cave.

 ”Shadow?”

”Don’t say it out loud carelessly. This child is unstable. If a human says the name, it becomes real.”

Mubiel warned me, and I shut my mouth. Just from that one word, a black mist started gushing out.

 ”Sorry.”

”It’s okay. I used to be a shadow spirit too. But unstable spirits are very sensitive to words of power. Be careful.”

So, is she Mubiel’s clone? Her body flickers like black flame. If I say a monster’s name now, will she transform into that? She said she wants to be an Assassin… but Assassin isn’t a race, it’s a job. In some games, Assassins are just common mobs. That okay? Either way, it’s kinda sketchy.

”I want to become a villainess and… toy with men…”
