Chapter 125 Desperation

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

 ”…Let’s break up.”

 ”……”

”I’ve been lying to you this whole time.”

 ”…What do you mean?”

”You might not believe me, but… I remember my past life.”

Haruto’s voice was quiet, almost shaking, as if each word weighed more than the last.

He began to speak—slowly, carefully—like pulling old pages from a dusty book.

He talked about meeting a god.

How he had begged not to be sent to some fantasy world but to be reborn in the real one—this one.

 How his soul had changed.

How the god gave him power: the ability to heal any illness or wound.

How he was even allowed to choose his new face… his body.

How time didn’t move the same there—how while they spoke, a hundred years had passed.

And why he had kept it all secret until now…

”You’re disappointed, aren’t you? It would’ve been enough just to touch, but… I gave you a full massage.”

”I don’t understand this sudden talk about past lives and special powers…”

Without warning, Haruto stood and walked toward the kitchen.

When he came back, he was holding a knife.

He placed the blade against his own arm.

 ”Ha-Haruto! Stop!”

 Drip. Drip.

Dark blood hit the floor in slow, heavy drops.

The cut was deep. Too deep.

 ”What are you doing?!”

Akane rushed toward him, her hands shaking as she pressed a handkerchief over the wound.

 But Haruto didn’t flinch.

He just looked at her, holding his arm out.

 ”Just watch.”

 ”…Wait—what!?”

 The bleeding slowed.

 Then stopped.

 He wiped the blood away.

 The skin beneath it—smooth. Perfect.

Like the injury had never been there at all.

The floor still held a pool of blood, but his arm?

 Unmarked.

”This proves it, right? That I really have powers.”

 Akane didn’t answer.

 But Haruto kept talking.

”I didn’t lie to you only about my power…”

 ”…”

”When I got those memories back, I was just a newborn. But my mind… it wasn’t like a baby’s.”

His voice dropped. Shame pulled at his words.

“I thought my mother—Harue—was beautiful.”

“I had wrong thoughts while being breastfed.”

“Even back then, I saw her… and Yui-san… as women.”

”It’s not really a second personality. I don’t know what it is, honestly.”

 ”…So you didn’t like me?”

”I did. I do like Akane. That’s why I confessed. In my past life, I loved Mom. I loved Yui. But now… I love you. Does that make sense?”

 ”…There’s no way I’d understand.”

 ”…You’re right. Sorry.”

 Drip… drip…

Up until that moment, Akane hadn’t cried.

But now—slowly—tears rolled down her face.

She picked up her bag, turned toward the door, and walked away without another word.

Haruto just stood there, watching her.

 Then—

 Bang.

 The door shut behind her.

(This was for the best…)

Haruto dropped to the floor, curled up, and whispered to himself inside his own mind.

 Despair.

 He had reached it—completely.

Right now, Haruto didn’t care what happened to him anymore.

 Everything felt pointless.

He was acting on impulse. Wrecking himself, as if trying to erase the pain with pain.

 But that wasn’t all.

He hadn’t slept. He hadn’t eaten.

 His thoughts were heavy.

 His judgment—clouded.

If he had been in a normal state…

He would have looked back on this moment—

 And regretted it all.
