Volume 3 Chapter 142-2 Linca Training!

He wasn’t wearing his glasses now, and somehow that made him feel a little more… refreshed. Weird, right?

The two of them crossed the wheat field and entered a decent-sized village—about the size of East End. Chickens clucked around lazily, and kids ran and played like it was some peaceful place. Honestly, it didn’t seem like a village that had to worry about the Bloodsucking Kind, especially during wartime.

In the village center, a blacksmith and a few merchants had set up shop. They were selling goods from Ramsey to the nearby villages, along with simple, no-frills clothes.

After consulting with Linca, they decided to just buy her plain clothes. As for him, nothing fit. He’d gotten a little too… big.

”Shall we go with the whole ‘adventurers and merchants’ look?” Linca asked.

Her new outfit was a long-sleeved tunic with a peplos, a tube-like garment the Northerners wore. She also grabbed a white dress for sleeping, which would go underneath. The tunic was a dull white, and the peplos was reddish-brown. Nothing fancy—just simple, earthy tones.

But because of her chest size, if she didn’t tie the peplos at the waist, she’d look… well, pregnant. So she bought a leather belt to fix that.

Her boots were fine as they were, so she didn’t bother with shoes.

The total came to ten Franz Kingdom Silver Coins.

”Um, Sir Kian, I’ll pay,” Linca said, hesitating.

”This is on the party’s tab. It’s the rule,” he replied, grinning.

The merchant weighed the coins, checked them, and then shoved them out of the store with a “Hurry up and get lost if you’re done!”

It wasn’t the nicest way to do business, but in the North, people were a bit… rough around the edges. Kian didn’t care. He was used to being hated. After all, he’d been called a garbage scavenger back in East End.

 ”That guy was rude.”

Linca muttered, clutching her new clothes.

 Kian shrugged.

”Eh, it’s fine. The fact that he’s even running a shop means there’s money to be made in the North. Fewer annoying guilds here.”

”Well, there are some big merchant guilds, mostly dealing in timber and grains. They say they’re all under Lord Oswald’s control,” she replied.

”That makes sense, considering his position. Heard he’s still busy, even in prison. Guess even a criminal with ties to the capital doesn’t face consequences in the business world.”

Priscilla had a point. This wouldn’t last long.

But if they could fight at night, Kian’s party had enough firepower to win. Natra with her magic sword, Rufna, Sarah, and Linca—if they all fought together, they were unstoppable.

Especially with Linca back in action and Sarah regaining her combat instincts. Natra, armed with a magic sword, was a beast in battle. There was no reason they’d lose.

”Did you really defeat Oswald, Sir Kian?”

Linca asked as they walked from the village center toward the cemetery in the south.

It was a sunny day, and mostly women were out and about. People glanced at them as they passed, probably because of their different hair colors. When they made eye contact, they quickly looked away.

”Yeah, I did,” he said. “But I’ll tell you more later. My party helped me out.”

”Your party? Wait, you have more people with you?” Linca asked, surprised. “Oh, are they the Wolfmen’s daughter?”

”That’s one of them. But there are two more. Didn’t Jibril tell you?”

”No, he just mentioned your wind magic sword and said something about Sarah joining, but that was… unclear. I only knew for sure when I caught her with my spell.”

 Kian nodded, “I see.”

”Yeah. I’ll introduce you to them later. When I do, I need you to act like your mind’s been eaten by a Wraith and that you’ve lost all your memories.”

”Oh, I get it,” Linca nodded. “You want me to pretend I’m someone else. After all, Sarah wouldn’t buy it if I came off as the same old me.”

”Exactly. But we’ll only fight if Sarah or you betray me.”

Linca gave him a curious look.

”So you’ll have me spy on Ms. Sarah for you?”

”Pretty much,” he said, keeping his tone serious.

 She laughed lightly. “I don’t think that’s necessary. I can’t imagine I’d betray you.”

He had to admit, Linca had been unpredictable. Just a couple of nights ago, she’d been fighting to the death, and now she was casually talking like it was nothing. You couldn’t take your eyes off someone like her.

Suddenly, Linca stopped walking and pointed to the edge of the village, her face turning serious. “Look there.”

”There is a public cemetery at the foot of the large hill visible over there.”

Kian nodded, then started walking ahead of Linca toward the cemetery.
