Volume 3 Chapter 142 Linca Training!
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
Linca soared through the sky, riding on her Shikigami, the Nue. The wind was biting, and the risk of crashing into birds or other obstacles was high. So, Linca cast a barrier to keep them safe. Around the Nue, an invisible Wall formed, and any bird that collided with it turned into a mist of blood, disappearing instantly. After that, the flight became smooth, and they enjoyed the journey in peace.
The speed of the Nue was insane—way faster than Wing and Cain. It flew so high and so fast, crossing the swamp and reaching the villages around Ramsey in no time. They’d left the Beastmen’s territory behind without even realizing it.
They had started in the early morning, but by noon, they had already reached a village on the outskirts of Ramsey. If they had been on Wing or Cain, they’d still be crossing the swamp. It made Kian think—maybe they should just travel by Nue all the time.
”That’s not gonna work,” Linca said, shaking her head. “I’d have to keep casting Wall constantly, and using Shikigami drains my energy way faster than any magic puppet or other summons.”
Kian watched as she jumped off the Nue’s back and landed gracefully on the ground. Linca waved her hand in a casual gesture, dismissing the Nue from the air. It wasn’t just a powerful Shikigami—it was dangerous, and without the right control, it could turn on them. That’s why giant dragonflies were used for transportation instead. They weren’t as strong, but they were much easier to manage.
Kian had noticed the Nue’s raw power earlier. Even Serena, with her magic knowledge, would have been shredded by it. The Nue’s wild energy was something he could feel instinctively.
”Wait… Are you like, some kind of super magician?” Kian asked, his expression serious.
Linca blinked, clearly taken aback by the question. Then, she giggled. “Did I say something strange?”
”Nope,” Kian said, shaking his head.
Linca smiled and covered her mouth, trying to suppress her laughter. She looked up at him, her eyes softening. “I’m just a normal Eastern girl who happens to know a little magic.”
”Normal?” Kian raised an eyebrow. “You’ve got way too much magic power to be normal.”
Linca shrugged casually. “I guess I’m just lucky. My mother gave me this special blood.”
She casually tossed a piece of paper on the ground. It glowed orange for a second before disintegrating into black ash.
”Spirit blood, huh?” Kian muttered, piecing it together.
”Yeah. I should thank my mother for making me this strong.” Linca said, taking Kian’s hand.
”There’s a village about 200 meters ahead. It’s where I killed some undead soldiers.”
”Are there any bodies left?” Kian asked, frowning.
”Most of them were burned. Only bones remain. Would you like to see them?”
”Just bones? I guess we might as well check.”
”Understood.”
They continued walking side by side. The surrounding countryside was peaceful, with people working in the distant wheat fields. Kian stretched his legs, trying to ease the tension in his muscles. Despite their deadly mission, it almost felt like a date.
Linca, holding a red parasol, gently leaned into him, blushing slightly. There was a weird vibe in the air. Kian could almost feel the sneezes of Natra and Sarah, who had been involved in some magical ritual earlier. But he brushed it off. It was probably just his imagination. They couldn’t afford to get caught acting like this. Once Sarah and Linca met up, he’d have to be more careful.
”Sir Kian?”
”Huh? You found the undead in the village’s common grave?”
”Yes. Going around the wheat field would be too obvious, so let’s cut through the farmland.”
”Got it. So, you’ve never done anything like this before with Jibril?”
”Done what?”
”You know… just walking through a quiet country town with no real plan, just the two of you.”
”Well… not exactly.”
”I thought so.”
Kian hesitated, trying to figure out how to respond. He was about to say something when Linca suddenly laughed.
”I’m just kidding. Don’t get jealous, okay?”
”Jealous? I’m not jealous!”
Linca laughed again. “You were totally mad when I compared you to Jibril.”
Kian went silent, a little embarrassed.
”I’m sorry,” she muttered, scratching his head. “I was being a little… childish.”
”Don’t worry, Sir Kian,” she continued, grinning. “I think it’s cute.”
”I’m thirty, not some cute kid!” Kian replied, blushing. “Stop teasing me.”
Linca chuckled, but then her tone softened. “Well, you said I was cute too, didn’t you?”
Kian groaned, facepalming. “Is this payback?”
”Ah, I’m just joking! Don’t make that face!” she teased, laughing.
Kian just sighed. It felt like he was dating a girl with zero common sense.
(Why are we having a pointless conversation like a couple just started dating?)
If he was wearing glasses, he would have definitely looked at her with a cold gaze, thinking, “What is this woman?”
Notes:
• Linca – Jibril’s favorite girl. High-ranking warrior monk woman from Shin, with strong abilities like ignoring attacks and poisons.
