Volume 3 Chapter 141-5 Before Departure

”Then… I guess I’ll trust you, Linca.”
Linca pointed toward the pouch on Kian’s waist.
”You are an Adventurer, Sir Kian. Wouldn’t it be fine to use your Adventurer’s ID as proof? This area is full of monsters, and there’s even vampire trouble in Ramsey. Unless someone is a high-rank Adventurer, most wouldn’t care much. For a lower-rank like you, it should pass without trouble.”
Kian let out a quiet sigh.
”Well, I do have a title, actually. My name is Kian of Izerland, and I carry the title of Master Knight.”
That was… mostly Maribel’s fault.
The title ‘Master Knight’ had done nothing good for him. It only made his face and name more known, and not in a helpful way.
Linca burst out laughing, covering her mouth.
”Master Knight? That doesn’t suit you at all, Sir Kian.”
”Don’t blame me. I didn’t ask for it—it was forced on me.”
”And you don’t even have any Western knights following you, right?”
”Yeah. I’m more like… a Master Knight with no clothes.”
Thinking back, some of the nobles at the salon did seem to give him mocking looks. Maybe it wasn’t just about race—maybe they really did see him as a joke.
Kian’s shoulders sank.
Linca noticed his change and looked startled, as if realizing she had said something she shouldn’t have.
”Sir Kian! I’ll be your Knight!”
She grabbed his hand firmly with her pale fingers.
”I may not be a Western Knight, but I’m an Eastern martial artist!”
”Right. Not exactly what I imagined, but… you’ll be the first Knight who follows me.”
Somewhere in Kian’s mind, he could almost see Natra’s eyes widening in disbelief, calling out, “Sir Kian!?”
With Sarah already around, dragging Natra into this might truly end him—even with a Restoration Curse on hand. Maybe it was time to be more careful.
”Shall we head out?”
”Yeah. I’ll bring out Wing Cain, then.”
”There’s no need.”
Linca pulled a paper from inside her robe and threw it into the sky.
A star-shaped magic circle appeared in the pale morning sky, and from within it came a strange beast—like a tiger with wings.
It was huge—and its life force felt overwhelming.
Stronger than the griffin he had taken down at the windmill, no doubt.
”This is a Nue. It can fly.”
”That’s the one you mentioned before. I thought the same thing I do now… it looks like it might eat me.”
”It won’t, unless I allow it. Now, please get on.”
Linca, with her backpack on, gracefully jumped onto the Nue’s back.
Kian grabbed the beast’s fur and started to climb. The paws looked feline, like a tiger, but the body’s fur felt more like that of a wolf or dog.
The monster bent its limbs and lowered its body, making it easier for Kian to climb.
”Whoa—! It moves so suddenly, it’s hard to balance.”
”Please put your hand around my waist. But don’t touch anywhere strange, or you might fall. If that happens, I might be fine, but you… not so much.”
”Understood.”
As Kian wrapped his arms around her, the scent of rose soap tickled his nose.
Her hair carried a soft scent—like incense burning gently in a wooden box. Calming, delicate.
Even through her Eastern-style dress, the shape of Linca’s body was easy to feel.
Her skin was warm, as if fresh from a bath. Her heartbeat was quick and strong.
”W-We shall go now.”
”Yeah.”
As he sat behind her, Kian’s eyes were drawn to her snow-white legs.
When he looked down slightly, her full figure was outlined by the black fabric of her Eastern dress.
It was… quite bold.
”Sir Kian, please hold on properly.”
”Yes.”
”…Ah! P-Please…! That’s… t-touching…”
”Sorry. It’s just… something I can’t control right now. You’re… very charming.”
”Y-Yes…”
”Can we stop and rest along the way?”
”Of course. But I suggest we hurry to Ramsey. We can rest better once we arrive.”
”Got it. Let’s fly.”
Linca gave a small nod and pulled hard on the Nue’s fur.
The beast opened its great wings and began to stomp forward over the rocky ground outside the cave.
Once they picked up enough speed, the shaking of its steps stopped.
The ground dropped away, and the two of them rose into the sky, riding on the Nue’s back.
(This is amazing… It’s way faster than Wing Cain.)
It wasn’t just the size or the speed. The creature’s power was built into its very bones.
Kian couldn’t help but feel a little defeated—and maybe a bit jealous.
To make himself feel better, he leaned in just slightly closer to Linca.
She let out a quiet gasp, her cheeks glowing with red.
Kian smirked silently to himself.
(This might turn out to be a fun trip.)
