Volume 6 Chapter 27 Don’t Come To Dislike Me

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

”Tomorrow, I’m going to Boorinel,” Cianie said suddenly.

While watching Mina, who was happily enjoying dinner beside him with her gray hair tied up, Klock listened quietly. Hero. She thought it would probably take another four days.

Against the backdrop of the night curtain visible through the window, he internally tsukkomi’d but kept silent. It was because he realized it might actually be possible for her.

”…Actually, I didn’t need to walk to town,” she said softly. “I just wanted to spend time talking with Klock. Now that I’ve fulfilled my purpose, I’ll head there by teleportation tomorrow.”

It seemed that was the case. She possessed the magic of teleportation. Without any incantation, she was skilled enough to achieve the incredible feat of flying on her own. There was no longer any need to walk through the forest where dangerous wild creatures roamed—though most of it had probably burned down.

”…But before that, I want to ask Klock something,” Cianie said, her tone firm.

Cianie stared intently at Klock, who had already finished dinner and was resting. The atmosphere turned strange—almost like the tense air when interrogating someone. For some reason, Mina, sitting next to her, froze and quickly turned her face away.

Ignoring Mina’s strange behavior, Cianie furrowed her brow and opened her mouth.

”Who is the girl in Boorinel?” she asked sharply.

It was like being instantly frozen by ice magic. No, the sensation was more like being thrown into the sea’s cold depths.

Klock, who had been lounging in a relaxed position, immediately straightened up and adopted a serious demeanor. He placed his hands on his knees, straightened his back, and slightly averted his gaze from Cianie, entering combat mode directed at her.

”…That’s not it,” he said quietly.

”Not it? What is?” she pressed, voice unwavering.

A quick reply came back, the strong determination of a woman who had decided to extract the truth.

 ”Well, um…”

 ”What?” she demanded.

”…You know… it’s nice weather,” Klock said awkwardly.

”Yeah. It’s pitch dark and you can’t see anything. So, the girl in Boorinel is a Demonkin, right?” Cianie’s voice was sharp as she leaned forward.

He involuntarily met her gaze, then, overwhelmed, quickly lowered his face. How did she know that? Had Suzette’s identity already been uncovered? Now that he thought about it, Mina had turned her face away earlier—could she have blabbed while Klock was away? Or rather, that must be it. Still, he had no memory of discussing Suzette’s information that deeply with Mina.

”…I-I’ll clean up the dishes now,” Mina muttered.

”Yeah. Thank you,” Cianie replied, her tone cold.

* * *

”Um… thank you for the meal, Hero,” Mina said politely.

The moment she spoke, Mina—who had obviously dashed to finish her meal—hurriedly took her plate and left. The word Hero coming from her left no doubt. Mina had already been conquered and had provided Cianie with all the information she knew. She was on Cianie’s side, leaving Klock isolated and unsupported.

”…Klock, answer me. Depending on the situation, I might also have various—”

”Wait! I understand, just listen to me!” Klock interrupted desperately.

What if he were told it was the end? Even if they could separate them, as long as he was alive, there was hope. But if Cianie, the hero, denied his survival, then it truly was over. Just moments ago, he realized that if he angered her, it would absolutely be the end. And while he might tolerate that anger directed at himself, he absolutely could not allow any intent to kill to be aimed at innocent Suzette.

Watching Cianie’s completely unmoving expression, Klock let his memory drift back three months. He recounted the time when he approached the Federation and helped an unfamiliar noble. Skipping the details of how the first night was rape, he strongly emphasized her importance as a comrade more than a significant other.

 ”…Yeah. And then?” Cianie prompted.

 ”…Huh? Um…”

”So, you had s*x?” she asked bluntly.

That seemed to be what mattered. It was only natural—if there was infatuation with another woman, the crucial point to interrogate must be there. Klock stammered, while Cianie’s unwavering gaze created a suffocating atmosphere.

”…I think she might be pregnant,” he confessed quietly.

Why did women become so frightening when they questioned you like this? Thinking this, Klock averted his eyes and whispered the truth. Honestly, he wanted to remain silent, but having come this far, he had no choice. Besides, it felt like she knew more than he expected, making silence impossible.

 ”…”

 ”…”

Silence descended. All that could be heard was the cricket-like chirping from outside the window. Their words halted, and an unbearable atmosphere filled the room. Honestly, Klock couldn’t say anything. If the roles were reversed, he might be shocked—but Cianie hadn’t been around until recently. He wanted her to understand this was the result of her sudden appearance.

He flinched slightly at a rattling sound. Standing up, she walked briskly toward him, moving to where Mina had been seated, and plopped down abruptly.

The fear of her sitting beside him again, facing him, was palpable. Averting his gaze from her stunningly beautiful profile, Klock felt Cianie’s glare pierce through him.

”I have loved you alone even after reincarnating,” she said quietly, “yet Klock has long since been in that kind of relationship with another woman.”

Her strong gaze bore into him as she lowered her shoulders just a bit, looking somewhat sad.

Honestly, this couldn’t be helped; if fifteen years had passed, it was only natural to have someone else. However, her sentiment was virtuous, making it impossible to argue who was right.

”I’ll talk to that girl in Boorinel. We’ll discuss the future at that time,” she declared firmly.

It felt as if a verdict had been declared.

Ugh, Klock wanted to say something, but his words stuck, and he turned his gaze away.

It was like being caught cheating—and she was declaring she would confront the other party at their home.

—Could this be one of the top crises of his life? It was clear that if this continued, Suzette would be in danger.

* * *

”I already knew,” Cianie said coolly.

Now was the time to show what a man was made of. When he tried to protect her with such momentum,

”I just wanted to hear it from Klock’s mouth. The truth is, I already heard from Saint Lady that Klock has a girlfriend. First of all, it’s not just Ms. Suzette. There’s that relationship with Mina too, isn’t there?”

He was caught off guard in an instant, freezing with his mouth slightly open.

”There are others, right? Like… that slave girl. She doesn’t seem to be around now, but you have something to do with her, right?”

Further blows landed. His eyes flicked toward the ceiling, swimming.

The slave girl. There was no one else but Adelina.

Upon calm reflection, that seemed to be the case. There was no way they wouldn’t research the one they were pursuing. That was why he referred to Suzette as a Demonkin woman. She had once been captured by the holy priestess Oriana of the hero party and the princess Hermine.

”Klock. I already spoke to Mina. She’s not a girlfriend yet, right? I said I would consider her treatment. And then there’s Ms. Suzette. I will talk to her as well and decide the future from that.”

”…Decide on what…?” Klock asked, voice barely above a whisper.

”…Whether to make her a mistress,” Cianie said flatly.

Silence enveloped the room once again.

The very word mistress had not even crossed his mind. Now that he thought about it, her previous life had been that of nobility. It was only natural that being another woman in his life would lead to such positioning, considering Klock’s evaluation as a fellow noble.

In this case, it would mean she was the legal wife, but—

”But Klock… wants ten children, right? Ten is a bit much… I can only handle one or two myself,” she said softly. “If there’s someone you choose, ‘someone I can acknowledge,’ then I might consider it.”

”…Huh?” he asked, caught off guard.

”For now, I can’t just abandon Mina,” she said firmly. “I’ve heard most of the circumstances, and I understand why Klock took her away. For the time being, I intend to take care of her myself.”

Who had said such a thing, and when? Ten children would be far too many; one or two would be plenty. It was completely absent from his memory. Had he really said that in the past? Perhaps it was a joke—or maybe he simply didn’t remember.

”But you’re no longer a noble,” she said with quiet finality. “The act of flaunting power by gathering many women like before is no longer meaningful. You’re already a commoner. I’d like you to refrain from forming new relationships in the future.”

It seemed the idea of nobility still lingered in his mind. Even in the provincial aristocracy of Livorno, there was a clear trend to flaunt power or wealth through the number of servants and mistresses. Dressing up beautiful mistresses and wives like weapons displayed in high society was standard practice.

It may seem trivial, but if one could not manage even that, they would be perceived as a family without means. Attention to trends, common sense, and the consideration of other nobles to uphold hierarchies was crucial. Political judgment was often observed through such perspectives and could not be ignored. Within factions, failing to show willingness to align could lead to ostracism.

”…Aren’t you angry? You’re pursuing multiple women, after all,” he asked cautiously.

”I’m not so much angry as… it’s painful,” she admitted. “I really dislike it. But, Klock—”

Cianie looked at Klock with a determined expression.

”—You think I’m scary, don’t you? I’m sorry. Please don’t hate me,” she whispered.

Her white hand reached out. It was tightly grasped. With a somewhat desperate aura, Cianie lowered her gaze hesitantly yet sought connection.

”It is scary, isn’t it? A woman who wields such strong power. Many innocent people felt the same way. I’m not someone to rely on; I’m seen as terrifying. Klock has been wary of me ever since returning. But this is not meant to threaten you, Klock. I will listen to your requests as much as I can. I won’t be selfish. And if you want a mistress… I can endure that, just a little. So—”

The pleading woman placed her hand on top of Klock’s and gave it a gentle squeeze. Her face remained downcast. Hidden by her hair, her profile conveyed a melancholic atmosphere.

”Keep me by your side. Tell me I’m the one and only. I will absolutely become a wife you won’t regret.”

She murmured so virtuous it seemed a lie that she was a hero. Even the most beautiful sword, when directed at oneself, was nothing but fear. She fully understood she was a threat. It seemed she was aware she could be a strong hindrance in interpersonal relationships.

I honestly think it varies significantly depending on personality. Take Tiet, for example; she came at me swinging, but due to her straightforward nature, I quickly got used to it, and we established a fairly good relationship early on.

 ”…Cianie,” he said softly.

What should he say? Being cheated on was unpleasant for anyone, regardless of gender. The fact she said she was even okay with that likely meant she thought it necessary to go that far.

What could be sensed was her immense struggle. Come to think of it, he barely knew anything about her life after reincarnation. Could it be that Cianie was an existence that no one truly understood?

Thinking that way made her seem quite pitiable. Because it was true. She was an existence capable of incinerating an entire area in an instant. There was no way that was not terrifying.

She referred to herself as a demigod, but she had already distanced herself from being human. She may be exceedingly competent as a warrior. However beautiful she might be, no one desired to approach a flower that was highly poisonous. If no one picked her, she would eventually wither away unnoticed—

”Ah… well, you see. If you keep saying… such cute things, you might end up in the wrong bedroom… there could be various issues,” she joked awkwardly.

Withdrawing the hand covered by his palm, he placed a hand on her shoulder and pulled her closer. Ah, he thought he messed up, but as she looked up at him from her chest, their eyes met at close range.

There was no way to avoid this kind of attitude. After being told this much, it would be hard to back down. Without resistance, she pressed her body against him as if leaning in at the same time. As she breathed near his neck, a ticklish sensation spread, and Cianie laid her head on him as if surrendering herself.
