Chapter 25 Overconfident Hero Takuya Kiritani And The Unpredictably Calm Delinquent

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

After Yuzuki Yuka had been taken away by Miyake Yuka, the class split into two camps.

Some muttered with slumped shoulders, “Our idol…” they said gloomily. Others clenched their fists and snapped, “Damn it! That Miyake guy stole our healing support!”

There were even whispers among a few boys: “If Yuzuki Yuka joined my party, combat would be so much easier.”

While most of the male students simmered with their own brand of resentment or longing, Takuya Kiritani—standing apart with his usual poised smirk, surrounded by his adoring female entourage—was measuring the loss in more pragmatic terms.

“Having a single healer in the party would save a lot of money on recovery potions,” he commented idly, as if discussing the weather.

Of course, he wasn’t immune to Yuzuki Yuka’s beauty—no boy in the class truly was—but unlike the rest, he didn’t burn with desperation. His popularity meant he never had to fight for attention, so he could afford to stay “rational,” or at least believe he was.

In his own mind, that made him superior—a cut above the rabble. Yet if he had stopped to examine his thoughts more deeply, he might have realized that his “rational judgment” was really just the narrow view of someone confident in their own status. No one pointed this out, of course—not his classmates, not even his rivals.

 Why?

The answer was simple: Takuya Kiritani was the second son of a noble family. His grandfather sat in the House of Representatives. His father was a major corporate shareholder. His mother, a renowned actress. His elder brother, an honorary professor at a national medical college. And Kiritani himself was a top student at a prestigious local school, ranked third in academics.

With such an illustrious backdrop, people saw only the brilliance of the Kiritani family. His shortcomings, if any, were swallowed up in the glow.

(Hmph… they’re all so shallow. Falling apart over one girl? Pathetic.)

”Hey~? Kiritani♡ Can I join your party too?” a girl from his entourage asked, leaning close with a playful tilt of her head.

”Hey! Ami! Don’t get too close to my Kiritani!” another girl snapped, shoving forward.

”Ugh~ that’s not it… He’s my Kiritani,” Ami replied with mock sweetness.

”Ah, then I’ll join too…” murmured a third girl, already inching nearer.

”What?! That’s unfair! I’m joining too!” another voice chimed in.

The rest of the entourage began clamoring—”I can’t let that slide!” “Me too!”—until the group was a flurry of perfume, hair ribbons, and indignant voices.

”Hey, hey… calm down,” Kiritani said, raising both hands in a pacifying gesture. “Don’t worry, no one’s going to be left out.”

The girls relaxed instantly, cheeks pink.

 ”Kiritani is so kind♡”

 ”As expected, you’re so deep-hearted!”

”You’re really different from other guys~♡”

But their noisy cheer drew other attention.

From across the courtyard, the delinquent group led by Shogo Gotanba sauntered over, their presence like a sudden shadow falling over the sunny chatter.

”Oh~ Ki-ri-ta-ni~,” Gotanba drawled, a smirk tugging at his mouth. “Feeling pretty cocky, huh? You really clocked me good the other day.”

Kiritani tilted his chin, his smile sharpening. “What? Did you bring your friends because you’re too scared to face the strongest guy in class alone?”

”Hey, Kiritani, you sure you wanna talk back to Mr. Gotanba?” one of the delinquents said with a mocking laugh. “He’s a berserker. Tough as hell.”

Kiritani didn’t so much as blink. “So what? Even if all of you came at me together, you still wouldn’t win.”

One of Gotanba’s lackeys started forward, but Gotanba’s arm shot out, halting him.

”Hey. Calm down. I’m not here to fight today,” Gotanba said evenly.

It was a calculated move. For all his thuggish appearance, Gotanba had earned his place in the prestigious school. He could read the flow of a situation and judge when force would cost more than it gained.

Kiritani respected that. Wariness prickled at the back of his neck—Gotanba was no fool.

”Tch. Just make sure your arrogance doesn’t trip you up, Kiritani…” Gotanba muttered, turning away with his crew in tow.

”Hmph. Lowlife,” Kiritani murmured, watching them leave.

The girls immediately closed in again.

 ”Amazing♡”

”Kiritani♥ That was really scary… Can I hug you?”

Basking in their adoration, Kiritani suppressed the thrill of having won without lifting a blade. His sacred sword—the gleaming symbol of his role in this otherworld—hung at his side as he turned his gaze toward the direction Miyake’s team and Gotanba’s group had gone.

With his entourage clustered around him, he stepped forward, every movement proclaiming confidence, toward the yet unseen lands of the otherworld.
