Chapter 24 Miyake Yuka And Yuzuki Yuka…

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

 When Ayumu finally found hope──

In Alyurein, the heroes who had undergone sufficient training were about to set off, equipped with preparation fees and unique items.

 ──Holy Kingdom of Alyurein──

Miyake Yuka was a high school girl caught up in a class teleportation and brought to another world. At first, everything was incomprehensible. Suddenly, she was thrust into a battle against the demon king’s army. It made no sense. She resisted. Fighting might have suited her spirited nature, but…

”I don’t want my best friend Yuzuki Yuka to face such danger!” Miyake thought fiercely.

When they first met, Miyake never imagined they’d become friends. Yuzuki was the complete opposite. Miyake had once sought to attend a prestigious high school and participated in volunteer activities just to boost her grades. Her motives had been shallow—she liked the idea of a cool, cute high school uniform.

Yuzuki, on the other hand, was truly kind. How kind? You’d understand if you spent time with her. Miyake still remembered their first meeting vividly. It was during a local volunteer event where she reluctantly accompanied people with disabilities at a festival.

Caught up in chatter with an old elementary school friend, Miyake briefly looked away—and in that moment, the child she was responsible for, a child with an intellectual disability, vanished.

Panicked, Miyake frantically searched the crowd, tears blurring her vision. “What if something happened…?” she whispered in despair.

At that moment, Yuzuki called out softly, “Hey, isn’t that another middle school student helping out here? What’s wrong? You look like you’re about to cry.”

Miyake explained the situation. Yuzuki didn’t scold her.

”That’s awful! That child must be so lonely. Wait—after I leave my charge with my friends, I’ll help you look!” Yuzuki promised.

Together, they found the child near a game stall, quietly watching the colorful prizes with a finger in their mouth. Relief flooded Miyake, but shame made her cry like a child.

 ”I’m sorry… I’m so sorry… Ugh… hic! I don’t deserve to cry… I… my own carelessness… sniff! I’m the worst… You didn’t know I was looking for them…”

Yuzuki pulled her into a warm embrace. “Losing sight of a child with a disability was careless, yes. But everyone makes mistakes. What matters is you realized it and asked for help. Confessing your failure and relying on others—that takes courage. I really think you’re reliable and brave,” she smiled gently.

That smile was like the Virgin Mary’s —warm and piercing through Miyake’s heart.

Was that why Miyake felt an old, deep happiness whenever she saw Yuzuki in class? It was like meeting a soul friend from another era. Yuzuki seemed to remember her too, and naturally, they spent more time together.

Yuzuki was kind to everyone, but many boys misunderstood that kindness and pestered her. Miyake stayed close to keep them away.

Most of those boys were introverts who avoided groups of girls, so Miyake used her presence to shield Yuzuki. The persistent ones who wouldn’t back off got bit back—by her.

 Like this—

”Yuzuki-san! Let’s be in the same party!” a boy pleaded.

”Huh? Yuzuki’s teaming up with us. You can’t join! Come on, Yuzuki!” another added.

”I’m sorry! I’m teaming with Mii-chan and the others!” Yuzuki answered firmly.

The rejected boys stood there stunned as Miyake grabbed Yuzuki’s hand and pulled her away.

”Haha… that’s what being out of luck looks like,” a dry laugh cut through the air.

Sakashita Marika, another close friend, grinned as she appeared beside them. Different from Miyake, Marika was gifted at closing gaps between people. She had a mysterious knack for showing up suddenly and effortlessly fitting in.

Miyake was one of those who ended up nicknamed “Mii-chan” because of her.

(No—there was one person who called me Ms. Miyake… Ayumu Sanai…) The school’s top genius, who had always been the principal and vice principal to Marika’s dazed introvert nature. He came from the same middle school, had been bullied relentlessly, and was the person Miyake disliked most.

 A dark memory surfaced.

She shook her head sharply and vowed silently.

(I will protect Yuzuki! No matter what dangers lie ahead!)
