Rerobaku 117

Chapter 117 Halfling

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

After Kagura Magna vanished, Ayumu immediately headed to where the evacuees had gathered.

King Torygg and his retainers had to rush off to handle post-battle work: gathering and treating the wounded, checking the damage in town, repairs, and even arranging emergency funds. But before leaving, they told Ayumu to meet up with Sashima and also tell the people that the king was safe, to ease their fears.

Given the job of messenger, Ayumu aimed for the place where the evacuees should be.

On the way, he reached a spot where he could see all of Valend. Looking back, he saw the black dust in the air, mixed with sand kicked up by the giant beasts and insects that had rampaged there. It drifted in the sky in an eerie way.

Both the Queen and Kagura Magna had only stayed for a short time, but even so, they had left behind terrifying scars.

Well, part of the collapsed and destroyed buildings in Valend were his fault… but he did not regret it. It had been an emergency, and since they used him for their own convenience, he figured they were even.

”Ayumu still held a grudge about Kagura Magna!”

He was stubborn like that! But he was also a coward, so even if he held a grudge, he never said anything. Ayumu was a chicken!

”So this is Merkvala, the halfling territory in the Valend Cave Kingdom…”

Following the signs left by the evacuated dwarves, Ayumu walked to Merkvala, the halfling domain.

The dwarves were already shorter than humans, standing around 110 to 140 centimeters, but the halflings here were even smaller, none taller than 100 centimeters.

So the houses spread out before him were tiny and cute, like something from a fairy tale world. But on the roadside, dwarven warriors who had probably been fighting in the defense lay injured, tended by halflings.

 ”Wow, he’s huge!”

”So that’s the human we heard about!”

They looked up with wide round eyes. Humans were rare to them.

Though they looked like kindergarten kids, books said they were actually adults. They were not as strong as dwarves, but stronger than humans. Unlike dwarves, they could also use magic. Not as well as elves, but still fairly skilled.

Soon he found Sashima and Princess Laura. He was able to safely carry out the messenger role King Torygg had given him.

”My, my… a strong and smart son-in-law would be wonderful…”

While Ayumu was helping mix potions to treat the wounded, Queen Erisif, working beside Princess Laura, pressed a hand to her cheek and said that.

When had he become her son-in-law? She was digging the moat around him way too fast!

”If I were a little younger, maybe I could go for it. Tell me, do you like older women?”

As she spoke, she pressed her large chest against his back. Princess Laura cried out, “Mooother!! Please stop trying to tempt Sanai-samaꐦ You are disturbing the treatmentꐦ”

Ayumu glanced at Princess Laura. Her face was red, her cheeks puffed out in anger. He found it unbearably cute, and he was probably not the only one.

Later he learned that the halflings here worked in making tiny parts that required great precision. Normally they used ladders to reach high shelves, but when Ayumu, full of ulterior motives, helped take them down, the women were especially happy… He did it!
