Ranka-san had done it once before—during her own first time, she had offered herself up as if she were some kind of instructional tool for deflowering, a “r*** textbook” in flesh. So, forcing her—that hadn’t been the right answer. Sure enough, Anne’s stern expression broke into a grin.
”Takumi-chan. You really have become a fine man.”
”There’s a saying where I come from: ‘If you don’t see a boy for three days, watch closely when you do.’ It means even in just three days, a boy can grow. Well, in my case, it was three years.”
”Hmph. Has a nice ring to it. So, Ranka—when did you fall for him?”
”That will be a story for another time, Councilor Anne.”
Ms. Marina glided into the conversation with a gentle smile.
”See? He’s the man Ranka and I both acknowledge as our master.”
”Well, if even I can agree, then he passes. But Marina, you’re like a different person today. I heard Katarina had drugged you into a husk.”
”Yes. But my heart hasn’t given up. That’s why.”
”Is that so? Well, I’d rather work with you than with Katarina anyway.”
Anne tapped her hip as she stood, murmuring in frequencies too low for us to catch. No doubt she was summoning her shadow operatives.
”Then it’s settled. We’ll kidnap Katarina, make Takumi-chan name a price for the merchant guild, have him buy it, and when it’s done, kill her. That works for you?”
”Yeah. Please do.”
I decided Katarina’s assassination without hesitation. With Mr. Ralph, Ms. Marina, and Anne-san on board, and Councilor Gandolf’s cooperation expected, we could even strike Noshisshi eventually, letting Kanare-san inherit his place.
”But for now, the guild leader will be Ms. Marina.”
”What’s this all of a sudden?”
”Just… I’m not ready to step into the light yet.”
I wanted at least to maximize my Discount Skill proficiency first. With Katarina’s fortune seized, I could buy the Agilaus Staff. Chisame was still a challenge, but I could summon Scaya-san, Weed-san, Dalcur-san to bolster our strength.
But above all, I didn’t want Livia sensing anything. My rise could stay hidden until the time I became a dragon.
”Alright. But who would’ve thought you’d be a boy who could make such bloody decisions?”
”A lot has happened.”
”Ah, right. You lost so many friends, didn’t you? Is that what changed you?”
”They’re… missing.”
”Sadly, it’s confirmed—they’re dead.”
I had no choice but to accept it without emotion. Controlling Livia’s Turning Heavens was impossible. Once a classmate was gone, that was final. I apologized in silence to those who never made it back.
I’m sorry. At least I’ll make sure Sakasaki-san survives.
”Well then. Who knows how much longer I’ll live. I’ll just watch what you do, Takumi-chan…”
Anne’s voice was almost cheerful as she left the room. At the door, she glanced back at Ranka-san, smiling.
”Ah, Ranka. Use the next room—it has a bed. If you’re going to give your virginity to your danna-sama, make sure he loves you properly. That’s advice from a woman who’s lived a little longer.”
”Th-thank you, Granny.”
”Now, I’ll go kidnap Katarina. Get it done before I’m back, alright?”
The door clicked shut. Ranka-san and I locked eyes, then leaned into another kiss—this time, filled with love.
”Takumi-sama, I love you…”
”Oh? Ranka-san, won’t you call me danna-sama again?”
”Honestly… you’re mean.”
Her eyes glistened with tears as she begged for another kiss.
”Well now, Ranka. Do you intend to conduct sex education with my daughter right here?”
