Volume 8 Chapter 35 Kaitney’s Plea
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”Honestly… I’ve told you over and over, don’t finish inside. Do you ever listen? Do you even have a brain?”
”Ah, my bad, my bad. Habit, you know.”
A white line slipped down between her thighs, staining the tights and underwear she had only half pulled down. The maid scowled, lifting her hem slightly as she gave the man behind her a sharp glare.
Inside the tent, the candle had been snuffed to hide their shadows from outside. Their affair was swallowed by the dark, secret and muffled. Yet as she moved to clean up, he pressed into her again.
”Mm—why are you… acting like it’s natural to keep going?”
Her attempt to cover herself only sealed in what kept dripping. Wet, lewd sounds filled the space, breaths mixing in with heat and frustration.
”Please, enough already…!! This ends here. Next time, absolutely don’t finish inside.”
”Yeah, yeah, I get it. I’m sorry, really. Just that… Suzette, you’re too tempting. Makes me want to claim you all for myself.”
”I don’t care about that! Hhn—there’s no bath here, and if someone notices the smell, we’ll be found out…!!”
Even as she scolded him, he kept thrusting into her hips, pretending not to notice what spilled onto her clothes. Marking her, so no other man would come close.
Suzette’s breath came ragged, her body trembling against the desk as she struggled only to stifle her voice. Her eyes flicked back, catching hints of his pace.
”Mm—gh♡ hnn…!”
Her flushed body shuddered, the heat of him making her his. He drove deep, pounding hard, until he pressed into the farthest point and released inside her.
His seed pumped into her belly as her proud body jolted. The smell of man clung to her, carved into her very skin.
Only after he emptied himself fully did he withdraw, leaving her to drip heavily in the dim light.
”Haa…” He wiped his brow with satisfaction.
Suzette slumped against the desk, shoulders rising and falling with uneven breaths. On unsteady legs, she stood—then smacked him sharply on the head.
”W-wait! Sorry! Habit, I swear!”
”You haven’t learned a thing!!”
She tugged his cheek, lecturing him until he wilted. Their time alone, rare with Meina asleep and Cianie on watch, ended with her pulling her tights back up and cutting things short.
He apologized, patted her head, and thanked her. After that, she let him use her mouth. While he fondled her breasts, she sucked him off, grumbling insults each time she pulled away.
”Idiot. Brainless ape. May you die in the most pathetic way possible.”
Twice she made him release, and when she tried to leave for her tent, he caught her hand. They ended up wrapped in one blanket, her warmth against him as they drifted to sleep.
”…Cold.”
Klock jolted awake, sitting upright. The air was dim and icy, the chill from the ground biting into him.
Suzette was gone. Maybe she had slipped away to avoid being woken by his morning advances.
He rubbed his arms, tempted to lie back down, but sleep wouldn’t return.
Stepping out of the tent, he muttered, “Damn, that’s a nice view… cold as hell though.”
Above stretched a deep indigo sky. The veil of night thinned, the horizon painted in purple gradients. A cleansing sight, but only for a heartbeat—soon enough the cold demanded all his attention.
He hurried to the firepit from last night.
”Ahhn♡”
”…What?”
A shrill cry pierced his ears, the kind that needed no imagination.
No way—they were at it already? At dawn? He smirked. If some couple was too frisky to sleep, fine—but if they started dragging their feet later, he’d have no pity.
With so many women in the troop, it wasn’t surprising. In a nation’s army, such sounds would be unthinkable. Brigante was loose on discipline. Give it time, and this sort of thing would spread—more than just a couple here and there.
He piled dry leaves, struck a spark, and blew until the flame caught. Settling onto a rock, he tossed in logs, the crackle warming the air.
”—Magic.”
”Huh?”
A quiet voice behind him. His heart jumped, though he masked it.
”Oh, Kaitney. Up early, huh? That’s commendable.”
”Ah—y-yes. Good morning.”
The village girl stood at the edge of the firelight, clad in plain gray clothes, posture slouched, eyes a little foggy. Still half asleep, maybe.
”How’s your mom doing?”
”She’s so much better now, thanks to you. Not only healed, she says even her back pain is gone… she feels younger than before.”
How did a healing spell fix her back too? Normally after treatment, one needed rest—but here, it was as if random ailments were cured along with it.
”Um… thank you for saving Mama.”
”Me? I didn’t do much.”
”No, you spoke to the Hero for us. Because of that, she was saved.”
Her eyes locked straight on him as she gave thanks.
It left him awkward. He hadn’t done anything, but her gratitude made it feel like a lie hung between them.
The fire crackled, sparks dancing. Drawn to the warmth, Kaitney crouched beside him.
”Something wrong?”
”No, I just wanted to warm up… is that not allowed?”
”Do as you like. But… you’re not bothered by me?”
At that, her gaze slipped aside. She looked uneasy.
There’s no way she’d forgotten what happened before. Even if she saw him as the one who saved her mother, he wasn’t someone she should want close.
”N-no… it’s fine.”
”Hmm.”
He studied her. “Really?”
Kaitney straightened, stiff, avoiding his eyes like a cat ready to bolt.
”Um… I heard you’re one of the Hero’s companions…”
”Yeah? And what about it?”
Kaitney’s voice trembled. “N-no…”
The silence that followed felt heavy, like a fog settling over the campsite. The crackle of the dying fire was the only sound breaking the tension.
Klock’s eyes narrowed, his tone sharp with suspicion. “What, you think you can cozy up to me just ’cause you know who I am? Tryin’ to climb the ladder, huh?”
Kaitney’s cheeks flushed, and she turned her face away, clearly uneasy. Her shoulders slumped, her body curling inward as if to shield herself from his words. She didn’t try to explain herself, but her expression grew pale, her discomfort plain to see.
This one’s feelings are written all over her face, Klock thought, leaning back slightly. Honest to a fault, but that kind of openness won’t do her any favors outside the village.
Despite her shy demeanor, Klock could guess why she’d approached him. He wasn’t just any wanderer—he was Klock, a member of the famed Brave Knight, a legendary adventurers’ party [T/N: Adventurers’ party – a group of skilled individuals who undertake dangerous quests]. To the villagers, he probably looked like a hero straight out of a tale. But in truth, he didn’t have the strength or grand deeds to match the reputation of the hero party. Not that anyone else knew that. They likely thought getting close to him could bring status, wealth, or protection.
For Kaitney, the tragedy of his past—a brutal assault he’d endured—had turned into an opportunity. She’d already managed to form some kind of connection with him, however fragile. But Klock doubted she was the scheming type, plotting for personal gain.
”Bet it was Rachel… no, maybe Okan who told you to get close to me, right?” he pressed, his voice teasing but pointed.
”N-no… I mean… it’s not…” Kaitney stammered, her words tripping over each other in her haste to respond.
”Don’t worry about it,” Klock said, waving a hand dismissively. “It’s a smart play. If I were your dad, I’d say the same thing—find a guy with some coin. When you’re scraping by, you do what it takes to survive.”
It made sense to seek out someone with means. For those living hand-to-mouth, survival trumped pride or gossip. Families who’d known poverty would push their kids to secure a better future, no matter what others whispered.
”But here’s the thing,” Klock added, his voice firm. “Hero Anna’s already my partner.”
Kaitney’s eyes widened, a flicker of disappointment crossing her face. “So… it’s true, then…”
The words hung between them like a barrier. He was drawing a line, telling her she didn’t stand a chance.
Yet, Klock reached out, his hand brushing her shoulder. He pulled her closer, his touch bold but not forceful, resting his arm around her neck. His fingers grazed her collar, slipping just beneath to feel the warmth of her skin.
”W-what…? Um… what…?” Kaitney’s voice quivered, her eyes wide with confusion.
His actions didn’t match his words, and she froze, unsure. She pushed back lightly, her hands trembling, but Klock’s grip stayed steady, not harsh but unyielding.
”Man, it’s chilly this morning,” he said, his tone casual as if nothing unusual was happening. “Waking up alone in this cold makes you crave some warmth. Lucky you’re here, Kaitney.”
She hesitated, her voice small. “Isn’t… Hero-sama with you?”
”Nah,” Klock said with a low chuckle. “If I were with her, I’d want more than just sleep. Can’t have our Hero-sama dealing with me every morning, right?”
Hero Anna was off-limits, but Kaitney was right there. He kept his touch light, teasing her gently, feeling her tense under his hands. Her shoulders twitched, betraying her nervousness.
Kaitney looked down, her face burning with embarrassment. Her initial resistance softened, her arms relaxing as she stopped pushing back. She turned her head away, letting him hold her without protest.
This girl’s too soft-hearted, Klock thought. No wonder her sister Rachel’s so bold—probably making up for her.
Taking advantage of her compliance, he grew bolder, his hand sliding lower, resting on her hip over her simple skirt [T/N: Lower garments – clothing covering the lower body, like pants or a skirt]. He pressed gently, encouraging her to relax.
Kaitney hesitated but slowly shifted, allowing his touch. She leaned into him, her body warm against his in the cold dawn air. When his hand brushed her side, she was tense but didn’t pull away.
”Come on,” he said softly, stepping back. The campfire’s glow was too visible; someone might wake and see them. He took her hand, guiding her away from the campsite.
They slipped into a nearby thicket, the trees hiding them from prying eyes. In the shadows, Klock nodded toward a sturdy tree. “Put your hands there. Lean forward.”
Kaitney froze, her eyes wide with uncertainty. The moment felt too sudden, too fast. But Klock’s hand on her back was gentle yet firm, urging her to comply. She placed her hands on the tree, her movements hesitant.
He tugged at her skirt, pulling it down just enough to reveal the curve of her hips, shaped by years of farm work. He stepped closer, pressing himself against her, his touch careful but deliberate.
”F-fu…! Ngh…!” Kaitney gasped, her voice a mix of surprise and unease.
Her warmth enveloped him, soft and welcoming despite the lack of preamble. The connection felt natural, almost too easy.
”Wow, you’re ready for this, aren’t you?” Klock teased, keeping his tone light. “Should’ve just said you were up for it.”
”N-no…! It’s not…!” she protested, her voice breaking as she struggled to explain.
His playful words made her tense, her body tightening for a moment. She stayed in place, her hips raised, as he moved gently. Her breath hitched, her body trembling slightly.
”I… heard noises… nearby…” she whispered, her voice shaky. “I woke up… and… ah…!”
”Oh, that?” Klock grinned, understanding. “Heard some folks nearby, got you all curious, huh? So you sat by me, already feeling the mood.”
He held her hips, his movements slow and steady. Her skin was soft, her body responding despite her nerves.
Her tension began to ease, her body softening against his. She matched his rhythm, her breaths growing quicker.
”Ah…! P-please… go slow…!” she pleaded, her voice barely above a whisper.
”Slow? With you like this? No chance,” Klock said, his voice teasing but kind. “Just hold on, alright?”
”N-no…! Ah…!” Her gasps were soft, tinged with both nervousness and something deeper.
They seemed to fit together well, better than he’d expected. Their last encounter hadn’t been this smooth. Maybe he’d overwhelmed her before, but now she felt right—pliable, eager even. She was perfect to keep close, he thought. Quiet, easy to guide. A bit young, a bit inexperienced, but worth holding onto. Maybe he’d teach her a thing or two.
”Kaitney,” he said, his voice low. “I’m not pulling back.”
He said it deliberately, testing her reaction. His pace quickened slightly, letting her feel his intent.
”Please…!” she gasped, turning her head slightly, her eyes wide with desperation. “If… if Mama or Rachel get in trouble… please help them!”
”Huh?” Klock paused, caught off guard by her words.
”You can… do what you want with me…!” she said, her voice trembling but earnest, her gaze pleading.
So that was her plan. He’d thought she was just going along, easily swayed, but she had a purpose. A girl like her, bargaining with her closeness? That was a surprise.
He didn’t answer, letting the silence stretch. His movements grew stronger, taking without giving her the reassurance she sought. He wanted her to feel the weight of his silence, to wonder.
Her hopeful expression slowly faded, replaced by a quiet despair. She must’ve thought she was being used, with nothing to show for it.
”F-fu…! Ngh…! Ah…!” Her voice broke, caught between emotions.
In the end, he let himself go, overwhelmed by the moment, their connection sealed in the quiet of the dawn.
Her body trembled, holding him close as if reluctant to let go.
Alice clung to him, whispering with a grin that seemed far too carefree for the words spilling from her mouth.
”Yeah, that’s right. I’m one of the Six Noble Ladies. Lady Kispe’s delicate, beloved pinky finger. Alice Lau, of the Eternal Room of Childhood. Sorry for keeping it secret—truth is, I’m a Succubus. A Rabbit Beastkin Succubus.”
She said it as if it were the most natural thing in the world, without hesitation or guilt.
Klock froze, dumbfounded. His mind lagged behind, unable to process the confession.
She was a Succubus—Kispe’s subordinate. And worse, she admitted it openly.
”You… you’re the one who killed Boston, aren’t you?”
Alice puffed out her cheeks, pouting playfully.
”Nope. He wasn’t my type. Taking him to Crimson Spire—that was Athena’s doing.”
Even the mention of Athena didn’t shock him anymore. If Alice was really a Succubus, it made sense that Athena was in league with her.
”Taken… to Crimson Spire?”
”Yup. So over there, he’s still alive.”
She leaned closer, red eyes glinting like a predator’s.
”But never mind that. Let’s make a deal, Mr. Klock. I’ve… taken quite a liking to you. If we strike a bargain, maybe I’ll tell you allll sorts of juicy secrets.”
Her finger traced a heart shape over his chest through his clothes, her mischievous smile never fading.
