Chapter 68 In a Certain Gazebo The Scandal of the Great Kento-san
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
A few days had passed since her second meeting with Kento. Queen Cecile Canaria of the Canaria Kingdom let out a tremendous sigh in her usual office.

”Huuuuuhh—”
She rubbed her temples, squeezed her eyes shut tight, and rolled her neck. After exhaling, she took a breath. Then, with a short ‘Hmph!’, she expelled another breath, pulling herself together once more. The pressure weighing on her slender shoulders, no different than any ordinary woman’s, was extraordinary.
The ‘Ddo-Buddy Trial’ loomed, but that wasn’t the major issue. Compared to the problems she dealt with every day, it was a mere trifle—something she could almost afford to ignore.
After all, even if the ‘Tremble-Ddo-Buddy’ couldn’t be sold again, her own coffers would hardly feel the sting. Now that she had a personal connection with Kento, the owner of the magic tool shop ‘Harvest,’ she would never have to worry about the supply of adult magic items.
”Nnghh—”
Grumbling, she fixed her gaze on the documents in her hand. Lately, the north had become increasingly suspicious¹. The papers mentioned that promising magic users were being gathered in the capital, and there were movements to reorganize the military in certain regions. If this were true, it signaled a preparation for war.
The season was autumn, soon to be winter. The most dangerous time would be after the harvest was completed. Both their country and hers seemed to have a good yield this year. That would give them the margin to launch an attack. Any move to rush the harvest would be an undeniable sign. She had to keep a close watch…
If not autumn, then spring. Winter was a dark horse. She couldn’t imagine them attacking in the midst of a heavy snowfall, but that was their everyday environment, whereas it was a special circumstance for them. To speak only from one’s own common sense was the act of a fool.
”Ahhh, this is too much—”
She let out a sound like a tired, middle-aged man while pressing the ‘Uterine Massager,’ which had become her constant companion over the last month, against her shoulder. This thing truly felt wonderful. During the day, she used it to relieve muscle stiffness; at night, of course, she used it to relax her uterus and her nether regions.
Cecile had completely fallen captive to its pleasure and felt nothing but gratitude for Kento, who had invented such a thing. It was her only source of relief in a daily life full of headaches.
She glanced at another document, one summarizing the recent movements of the surrounding nations. The Eastern Kingdom seemed to be continually skirmishing with a country even further east. She was grateful they wouldn’t have the spare capacity to assist the north. She sincerely hoped they’d keep dragging their conflict out.
”Hmm?”
Her eyes fell on some good news concerning the Western Kingdom. The nobleman she was once supposed to marry had reportedly just had his fourth child. He must truly cherish his wife, as he hadn’t taken a single concubine. She would have to send him a lavish baby gift.
Originally, her marriage to that man was intended to strengthen the ties between their two nations. In the midst of warring states², they had wanted an ally who wouldn’t betray them. The memory of the kingdom nearly collapsing after her parents’ deaths was still fresh. The marriage was supposed to be one of the measures to prevent such a thing.
In the end, the marriage didn’t happen, but his country was satisfied with having put hers in their debt. If necessary, they might offer his younger brother’s hand in marriage to her one day, but there was no sign of that for now.
If her parents had lived and she had married him, perhaps he would have helped her fend off the north… That thought surfaced before any image of herself becoming a mother of four. What did it matter? Both were fruitless fantasies, pointless to consider.
”Shall we take a break, Your Majesty?”
”Yes, I suppose so.”
Muse, her maid, saw that her mistress’s concentration had broken and spoke up. Cecile was aware of it herself, so she nodded without objection and stood up. Still holding the ‘Uterine Massager,’ she stretched, then pressed it against her shoulder again.
What was that amusing man doing now? Was he truly making a magic item to explore the other hole…? Her sphincter instinctively clenched, but she couldn’t imagine herself ever using such a thing. Could she somehow steer him towards creating a different product?
The moment she entered her break, Kento’s shop and its products filled Cecile’s mind. She had already been spacing out for days, fixating on the ‘anal-type’ products that man had mentioned.
At night, she had even debated for a while whether or not to reach for something similar. However, the well-bred ethics within her had firmly said no. It’s the butt hole, after all! It’s dirty!—that was the excuse she kept repeating in her mind.
After pacing around the room for a bit, she realized her thoughts were turning decidedly pink. This would not do. She needed some fresh air to shake off this restless feeling.
”A walk.”
”I shall accompany you.”
As was their routine, she spoke briefly and left the room. She left the ‘Uterine Massager’ behind as she exited. While it was called a walk, it was really just wandering within the Royal Palace. She wanted to avoid seeing the stern faces of the old men while on break, so she steered clear of the chancellor’s offices.
Her feet naturally carried her towards the royal living quarters. She glanced around and saw the inner courtyard bathed in sunlight. It was the gazebo where she often had tea when she was a princess. Casually, she walked over and sat down on the built-in bench.
”Should I prepare some tea?”
”Ah, hmm, yes. Would you?”
”Of course, immediately.”
Muse was being thoughtful. Part of it was likely the intention to give her mistress some time alone. Cecile watched her leave, gazing at the well-tended garden, which was currently unused. There was no rough texture on the bench or the table, either.
Perhaps she should reward the gardeners and maids. The capricious thought crossed her mind. The chancellors and finance officers would never permit it, but she was in a mood to fight them a little. Well, for now, anyway. She didn’t know what she’d feel tomorrow.
Suddenly, she saw someone walking down the corridor. It wasn’t Muse. It was her beloved younger brother, Roland Canaria. Behind him was a single attendant maid. She recalled he was supposed to be at the military base for riding practice today; he must be returning. Her brother noticed her and rushed over, looking surprised.
”Sister!”
”Oh. What a coincidence, Roland.”
”How unusual, are you alone?”
”Muse is preparing tea. She should be back soon.”
When Cecile prompted him to sit down, he nodded happily and took a seat. Soon after, Muse returned. For some reason, two tea sets had been prepared. She must have been aware of Roland’s schedule and known this would happen. She truly was an extremely capable maid.
For a while, the two of them enjoyed the tea, gazing at the garden flowers, and Cecile inquired about Roland’s studies and training progress. For Cecile, it was a moment of rare tranquility.
From now on, perhaps she should make this tea party a daily routine, unless there was urgent work. Cecile narrowed her eyes, smiling at the sight of a happy Roland. However, a single remark, delivered by Roland himself, shattered this comfortable moment.
”As expected, Kento-san is a truly amazing person³!”
”Hmmmm…?????”
Roland smiled cheerfully and uttered this completely out-of-the-blue statement. Cecile could neither understand why Kento’s name had come out of his mouth nor how Kento and ‘a truly amazing person’ could be equal, and a multitude of question marks floated over her head.
She could sense Muse stifling a burst of laughter behind her. Roland’s attendant maid glared and muttered a curse toward Kento. Only Roland was smiling with absolute conviction.
”Wh-why do you know that name? And… that man is an ‘amazing person’?”
”Yes! I met him the other day! Sister, this is the first time I’ve ever seen you look so calm and enjoy tea here. I’m sure it’s thanks to Kento-san’s magic tools, right?”
Cecile froze at the accusation. It was true that the impetus for today’s walk was to shake off the restless feeling caused by that man’s words. And it was certainly thanks to that man’s ‘product’ that she had been sleeping soundly every night recently.
Yet, she hesitated to nod at Roland’s statement. She didn’t want to admit she was feeling better thanks to an adult magic item! And if Roland somehow found out that what Kento was making were adult magic items, she felt she would never recover.
If she confirmed it now, and Roland, unaware of the facts, started telling everyone, “Sister is better thanks to Kento-san!” it would be a complete disaster. Wait, judging by his delighted expression, had he already told people close to him…?
Cecile’s face was like she’d chewed a bitter bug⁴ as she struggled to find a reply. Roland smiled innocently, knowing nothing. Cecile, cornered by her dearest younger brother, took a shaky sip of tea before finally opening her mouth.
”Ro-Roland, you should not mention that man’s name too often. He is someone I have summoned privately. Strictly between us, it may touch upon military secrets.”
She wasn’t exactly lying. She did plan to use the ‘Hot-Hot Ddo Buddy’—which that man had made—as a heating magic tool for the military. However, this statement badly meshed with Kento’s previous “shady magic toolmaker” act.
”Ah…! So, that was it! Kento-san is an amazing person, after all!”
”N-no, he is certainly a brilliant fellow, but…”
What exactly did he mean by “after all”? Cecile felt a sense of foreboding, but in Roland’s mind, the equation “Kento = Amazing Person” was now firmly established. Cecile was flustered, Muse crouched to suppress her laughter, and the attendant maid intensified her curses.
Just then, someone came running down the corridor.
”Your Majesty! There you are!”
”Y-yes! What is it?”
It was a civilian official, clearly a messenger. While she would normally be displeased to have her break interrupted, Cecile viewed it as a divine rescue from her current predicament. She apologized to Roland and stood up, leaning in to hear the report in a low voice so he couldn’t hear.
”W-well, actually…”
”What?! That person is visiting our country…?”
It was a message announcing the secret, incognito arrival of a certain important individual. That person was one of the few friends she had maintained a long correspondence with, and in many ways, an individual she had to treat with the utmost courtesy.
Out of the frying pan and into the fire (?). Cecile let out another deep sigh at the sudden work that had just landed in her lap.

Summary:
The immense burden of Queen Cecile’s political life is revealed, from suspicious military buildup in the North to managing alliances. She finds her sole solace in the private use of Kento’s ingenious adult magic item, the ‘Uterine Massager,’ which is also helping her sleep. This small, crucial secret comes under threat when her innocent younger brother, Roland, corners her in the royal gazebo, praising Kento as a mysterious, great military figure. Cecile’s frantic attempts to cover up the truth by spinning a story about ‘military secrets’ only solidify Roland’s deeply wrong—but well-meaning—admiration. The moment of personal crisis is interrupted by an urgent summons regarding a secret royal visitor, trading one headache for a potentially greater one.
—
Character Insight:
Cecile’s dual nature is clear: a highly competent, stressed ruler versus a private woman who relies on pleasurable distractions to cope. Her fierce, almost maternal, protective instinct toward Roland drives her panicked, ill-thought-out lie, showing she prioritizes his innocence over her own integrity. She is a Queen trapped by her own decorum.
—
Behind the Scene:
The ‘Ddo-Buddy Trial’ is an active political event, yet Cecile dismisses it as insignificant due to her private supply line from Kento. This highlights Kento’s unexpected political power through his black market connections. The incoming secret visitor is set up as a major diplomatic event, forcing Cecile to abandon her private life immediately.

T/L:
¹ [きな臭い (kina kusai)]: Literally ‘smells of burning flour/powder.’ It’s a common phrase used to describe a suspicious or dangerous situation, usually involving military conflict, like ‘smelling a rat’ but specific to war. ↩
² [群雄割拠する中 (gun’yū kakkyo suru naka)]: A historical idiom meaning ‘in the midst of rival warlords vying for supremacy.’ We use the more accessible ‘warring states’ here to keep the flow. ↩
³ [凄いお方 (sugoi okata)]: The ‘o’ is a highly polite prefix. ‘Okata’ is a very formal, respectful way of referring to a person. Roland is completely awestruck, giving Kento the highest social title. ↩
⁴ [苦虫を噛み潰したような顔 (nigamushi o kami tsubushita yō na kao)]: A classic, highly descriptive Japanese expression for ‘a face like she had chewed a bitter bug/worm.’ It means a look of extreme displeasure, mortification, or disgust. ↩
