Volume 6 Chapter 127 The White Room
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
When I opened my eyes, I was in a white room.
”Is this place not broader than Our own bedchamber? We have heard nothing of such a location existing within the palace walls-ssu.”
”Tis peculiar. Suspicious. We smell a conspiracy-ssu.”
Ah, a dream. If it is a dream, then strange events are bound to occur. Last night’s feast was joyous. It seems Our intake of alcohol was somewhat excessive-ssu.
The brandy from Sabroa¹ is far too agreeable to the palate-ssu. Its rich aroma is never cloying, and one never grows weary of it. That spirit is truly magnificent. We have taken a great liking to it-ssu.
We could only manage a single cup, but the whisky from Sabroa also possessed a truly wonderful fragrance-ssu. It is regrettable that We designated the whisky of the Liquor Hero as Special Grade. While that too is a fine drink, We find Ourselves wishing to partake in the Sabroa whisky as well-ssu.
Should there ever be a thing that We, the Emperor, must endure-ssu? Even if it is a trifle to Us, it would create a massive distortion in the world-ssu.
Though this body is but human, it serves as the vessel for the world-ssu. We must not be false to Our own heart. Enduring such things is out of the question-ssu.
Our court scholars maintain that this is as it should be-ssu.
To seize all that We desire-ssu, and to have every wish fulfilled-ssu. The spirit must always remain like a mirror, without a single ripple to disturb it-ssu.
This is a duty that can be performed only by Us, who possess both noble blood and a resilient spirit-ssu. If it be Our fate, We are not unwilling to martyr Ourselves for it-ssu.
Ah, would it not be simple enough to designate the Sabroa whisky as Special Grade as well-ssu? It was We who decreed that there could only be one Special Grade per variety of liquor, but in that case, that drink shall be ‘Sub-sky’-ssu. It is a new spirit, distinct from whisky. Indeed, both its taste and aroma are unique-ssu.
Without perverting the laws We Ourselves established, everything has been settled in harmony-ssu. Yet another legend for the Wise Emperor. Even tonight, Our intellect remains sharp-ssu.
Sabroa was some tiny nation somewhere, was it not-ssu? Now that Totoana² has been destroyed, the whole world belongs to Our Larse Empire³, and the Empire belongs to Us. Thus, the country of Sabroa is also Ours, is it not-ssu?
As a prize for brewing such excellent spirits, We shall make Sabroa a crown land-ssu. The royals currently residing there shall be uprooted and eliminated-ssu.
While slaughtering them down to the last infant may appear cruel, to remain relentlessly cold-hearted for the sake of peace is the mark of a Great Ruler-ssu.
From the viewpoint of Us, a multi-talented man also praised as the Poet Emperor, the royalty of a minor nation who cannot even comprehend human speech are no different from squawking Goblins-ssu. Our heart does not even flutter at the thought of exterminating them-ssu.
For the sake of Our tranquility, and by extension the peace of the world, please cease to exist-ssu. We shall even build a stone monument for you-ssu.
While We are at it, We might as well dispose of the Liquor Hero too-ssu. Once he is forced to divulge his brewing secrets, he will be of no further use-ssu.
Now that the Summoned Heroes who crossed into Totoana have been wiped out and the Demon King is gone, it is high time to finish them off-ssu.
Those barbarians from another world, bestowed with a mere fleeting strength⁴. It would be unbearable if they were to turn against Us, so We shall flatter them and expend them as thoroughly as possible-ssu.
The Hero Management Bureau⁵ mentioned they would deport them to their original world if they were no longer required-ssu. We do not mind that either. If they depart submissively, We shall even grant them ten gold coins as a farewell gift-ssu. What a compassionate Emperor We are-ssu. Though those otherworlders will surely display no gratitude and merely complain regardless-ssu.
To never falter in high-level political thought even within a dream, We are a truly too-perfect Emperor-ssu. That Totoana perished of its own accord and the position of World Emperor fell into Our lap must also be Divine Will-ssu.
A Great World Emperor whose name should be engraved into history, nay, into legend-ssu. Since We are the only Emperor who rules the world, We should be addressed simply as the Emperor-ssu. The Larse Empire should also be referred to simply as the Empire-ssu.
Ah, the official title must be carved into the stone monument-ssu. How about ‘The First Emperor of the New Holy Empire’-ssu? Suitably long and appropriately descriptive is best-ssu. Under Our rule, the world shall be reborn into a new era-ssu.
There is but one sun in the sky. On the earth, there is but one Emperor—Us. This is the way the New World must be-ssu.
The corruption gathered in the old era shall be purged-ssu. Not just the Summoned Heroes, but the royalty and nobility who resist Us are also unnecessary-ssu. We shall execute them all and achieve a true world unification that lasts for all eternity-ssu.
Our mind is functioning with more brilliance than usual-ssu. Is it because this is a dream-ssu? Dreams are truly strange things-ssu. We have heard they are linked to the realm of the gods-ssu. Does this mean We have finally reached divinity-ssu?
A sense of total power, and a feeling of pure joy-ssu.
But, it is a bit warm-ssu. Did We grow too excited-ssu? Even within a dream, Our throat has grown somewhat dry-ssu.
”Is anyone there! We are thirsty. Bring water!!”
If no one shows up by the count of ten, the parties involved shall face harsh punishment-ssu. Fools will take liberties immediately if We do not go that far-ssu. There are plenty of blockheads even among the offspring of the nobility-ssu.
”Is anyone there!!!”
There is no reply even after a count of one hundred. Shall We have them all executed by fire as a warning-ssu!!
No, even for an Emperor, a dream is something that cannot be mastered-ssu. It cannot be helped if it is inside a dream-ssu.
”You’re not a child. Don’t throw a fit just because your throat is a little dry,” a woman said.
Appearing from within the dense fog was a woman in a bizarre outfit. An immodest dress totally unsuitable for a maid. It must be that so-called ‘Maid Uniform’ that is popular among the low-born-ssu.
There’s a rumor that those obsessed with otherworldy tastes make the servers wear them when using them as playthings. In other words, do you intend to entice Us with an exotic flavor-ssu?
Certainly, there is something about this outfit that stirs a cruel heart-ssu. Since it’s a dream, an occasional change of pace might be fine-ssu. We shall accept your temptation-ssu.
”Ow, ow! What are you doing, you insolent wretch! We are the First Emperor of the New World-ssu!!”
”Disgusting!! Don’t touch my butt, you lecherous old geezer!!”
Sudden, sharp pain!! Our arm! Our arm is being wrenched up by a savage woman-ssu!!
At the dread of such mindless strength, Our whole body cringes-ssu.
”We are capable of fighting on level terms against a Knight Order Commander⁶-ssu! To be on level terms with Us, who on earth are you-ssu? No, We understand! That crude northern accent… are you from the horse tribes of the Great Plains-ssu? Hieee!! Do you still haunt Us even in a dream-ssu!!”
One of the few things that does not go according to Our desires-ssu! For such a thing to suddenly appear, this must be a trial sent by God-ssu!!
How terrifying-ssu.
* * *
”That man has completely forgotten about Mother. He probably never even remembered her to begin with,” Masurao muttered.
Masurao is on the edge of falling into darkness right next to me. I feel like a black aura is swirling from his entire body. Is this a bit bad?
It was fine as far as kidnapping and locking the Larse Emperor in the small otherworld Uno created.
The issue, if any, is that even people who have nothing to do with it have tagged along out of curiosity. Even Ms. Nina is here. She’s got a surprisingly big voyeuristic streak.
Even tiny spirits who mistook this for a festival have snuck in. To these guys, anything is a festival.
Since it wasn’t a very large space to begin with, it’s getting pretty cramped in here.
”Mothers, acting as a spectator is quite unrefined,” Kisarra said.
”Shut up, Kisarra! You’re the last person who should be talking about that,” another wife retorted.
Even Frapatica has come. Despite her usual habit of complaining that ‘under-the-table’ work is too tedious.
”I am here to help as my brother’s guardian,” one said.
”I have to watch such a fun event from the front row,” another added.
”Peeping is fun, isn’t it?”
”I might have gained a small understanding of how the gods feel as they enjoy watching the affairs of humans.”
Someone once said peeping is the hobby of a gentleman. More accurately, it seems to be the hobby of gentlemen and ladies alike.
I am busily moving around making sure we don’t run out of drinks and snacks. I’ll line up the big bottles, so please help yourselves.
The major operation that impacts the future of the world has turned into a sightseeing tour.
”Father, is it not time to send in our Doll Princess?” Claude asked.
”Hmm, let’s leave it to Masurao a little longer. It’s a situation where we don’t know which way it’ll go.”
”It has become clear that the Larse Emperor is useless, hasn’t it? As expected, the throne of Emperor is truly perfect for you, Father.”
”I hate that idea. It sounds like a punishment game.”
Claude is staring blankly. Do I really have to explain this from the very beginning?
”Look, becoming an Emperor means your citizens increase by hundreds of times. You have to take responsibility for the happiness of every single one of them. It’ll be much more of a headache than it is now.”
Not only does the scale get larger, but the roles and the necessary ability⁷ also differ. It’s a pain, so please give me a break.
”Just by understanding that, aren’t you fit to be an Emperor, Father? I can see a great empire of the future! It is but one of the future possibilities, though.”
Please don’t talk about cheatability⁸ while Masurao is right here. Well, I don’t think he really believes I can see the future.
”I have my beloved wives, and I’ve been blessed with great kids. If there’s something we want, we can just build it ourselves. What more could I want? As long as the Larse Empire dumps its stupid ambition for world conquest, that’s enough. I want them to be good neighbors. Don’t you think it’s much better than going out of your way to rule them?”
If they’re good neighbors, you can just give them a little support and then cut them loose if things get ugly. If you end up ruling them, the responsibility falls on you, doesn’t it?
If I were to govern the Larse Empire, I would have no choice but to take over the Empire’s bureaucracy as it stands.
No matter how much of a genius Shea-Shea is, or even if I bring in PCs from Earth, there’s a limit to how much data we can process.
Colonial rule like the ancient Roman Empire did would be possible, though. Conveniently, there’s even a thing called a Subjugation Skill⁹.
But is there really a need to go that far just to create a unified nation? Personally, I prefer a bunch of local warlords who don’t fight.
”Not everyone is a man of character like you, Father. That stupid Emperor will look down on us as a tiny country and send an army again and over again. Though we would crush them in a heartbeat with almost no losses on our side.”
”As long as we know when they’re coming, the defense has the advantage. The Larse side attacking with a massive army is also logistical suicide. It’s because we have the upper hand that we feel sorry for the enemy soldiers.”
It’s a topic I’ve discussed with Claude many times, but since some of my wives don’t know yet, I’m just reconfirming the situation.
I thought they were attacking in search of food because the Wall Barley¹
⁰ was gone, but by kidnapping the Emperor, it turned out he just wanted to rule the world.
I’m not in the wrong at all, am I? Well, I feel better knowing that. Just for that, the abduction was worth it.
”Father is kind of amazing. I can see why my brother is so obsessed. I might have felt a bit of a spark myself,” Kisarra said.
”I’m not sharing him with you,” Tizzy replied.
”Even if the number of wives goes up by one more, there won’t be much difference, right? I’ll be Father’s bride.”
Kisarra suddenly started saying something weird.
My own stupid little sister also said she would marry Dad for a while before she started kindergarten. Is it a father complex? Is it just a common phase?
”Father—, is it no good?” Kisarra asked, acting cute.
She acts cute and spoiled on purpose. It would be sweet if she were a little girl, but Kisarra is already a fully-grown woman.
Marriage between parent and child? It seems it’s not unheard of in this world, but I have to make her understand the reality here.
”Thank you. I’m very happy that you feel that way.”
”Is it no good? Do I have no charm as a woman?”
Calculating. Her gaze, her expression, and the tone of her voice are all totally calculated. Is this a performance? A play? While Tizzy would throw a curveball, she comes at me with a straight pitch. This, in its own way, is incredibly effective.
”Have some confidence. You are a very wonderful girl. But parent and child is a no-go.”
I even end up sounding theatrical myself. I can only think of cheesy lines, but since it’s me, that’s just how it is.
”That’s an Earth taboo, isn’t it? It’s not rare in this world,” Kisarra noted.
Yeah, well, I know that. But the reason incest is a taboo is because there’s actual biological harm.
Just in case something like this happened, there’s a video my uncle sent me. Memory card number A-I-032, this is the one.
I quickly set up the usual viewing equipment.
”What are we going to watch? Sex ed? The curse of the Habsburgs? Is it Sherlock Holmes?”
She’s probably confusing it with The Hound of the Baskervilles. Are they similar? A little bit, maybe.
”No, if anything, it’s more like Marie Antoinette?”
Ms. Shirakaba knows a ton about obscure Sengoku warlords, but she’s occasionally hopeless at world history. She’s the type who is smart but only studies what she’s interested in.
Once the video starts, everyone begins to watch closely. The family with the chin who repeated incest. From the story of the famous Habsburg jaw to the weak health and mental issues of Charles II. Overall, it’s a good summary. It’s really easy to follow. By the time this video ends, Kisarra will probably lose the desire to marry her father.
Even Masurao is watching with intense focus. Since the Doll Princess is a semi-autonomous type, there’s no problem even if I leave her alone as long as I give her basic orders.
Since I went to the effort of kidnapping the Larse Emperor, I should at least keep an eye on him.
The Doll Princess I first sent in as the Emperor’s attendant was modeled after Masurao’s mother—the Larse Emperor’s wife.
Even though she’s in a simple disguise or a maid outfit, is it really possible to not recognize your own wife? If it’s an Emperor with a massive harem, maybe it can happen. He has so many wives. There’s a rumor that there are plenty of women he’s never even touched. He might not even remember their faces unless they’re his favorites.
That’s why Masurao was so shocked.
”The horse tribes of the Great Plains… they haunt me. A warrior race where even women and kids beat Orcs to death with their bare hands… Since the Empire was founded, We have tried to conquer them many times, but the expedition forces were all crushed… no, they redeployed-ssu…”
The Emperor has been mumbling in a tiny voice for a while now. It looks like we won’t even need Claude’s confession magic or mind-reading magic.
Is he that easy, or just mentally a child? Even though he’s at an age that would be considered elderly in this world.
Just because you get older doesn’t mean you become an adult. I suddenly remember my uncle saying that. That was probably him being self-critical, but I think it’s the truth.
He probably hasn’t made much effort or faced much hardship. Even if he looks his age, the mask slips off as soon as he starts talking, doesn’t it?
They say a figurehead should be ‘light,’ but this is definitely too light. How has he managed to stay Emperor until now?
As for the horse tribes of the Great Plains that terrify the Emperor. I’ve only heard bits and pieces, but they seem like normal nomads. Just like the nomads on Earth used to be, they live by grazing livestock.
I thought not staying in one place was a way to avoid the Sky Whales, but long before the Wall Barley was introduced, they had been moving across the plains to find food. This is because if they stay in one spot too long, the livestock eat all the grass.
They aren’t actually some super-warrior race, and beating Orcs to death is probably just a myth. It is a fact that they’ve won every battle against the Imperial Army, though. They just use their incredible mobility to outrun them and launch surprise attacks when they see a gap.
The fact that everyone from kids to the elderly are masters of horse archery is impressive, but that’s really all there is to it.
They are way behind the Imperial Army in gear, and their arrows are limited. If they fought head-on against missile barriers, the Imperial Army would usually win.
The reason the horse tribes are seen as strong is probably because they’re led by a smart commander who knows guerrilla warfare. The chief?
Without getting cocky from a win, they pull back into the Great Plains as soon as they knock the Imperial Army down. A genius at hitting and running.
Just running away sounds easy, but it’s actually really hard after you’ve won a battle. It’s impossible unless your men trust you completely.
I bet the generals of the Larse Empire are having a rough time too.
If money was no object, something like a Great Wall might work. Even against nomads who don’t really get the concept of land ownership, it would be a clear way to mark territory.
”We love peace-ssu. We have even tried to give the barbarians a chance to live together, and We even took the chief’s daughter into Our harem-ssu. And yet they show no thanks! Ungrateful bastards!! Hmmm… you, you look like that girl from back then-ssu. Are you really one of the horse people-ssu? Don’t, don’t use violence on Us-ssu! That’s what civilized people do-ssu!”
I see. The Emperor vaguely remembered what Masurao’s mother looked like. He hasn’t realized it’s her, though. But I don’t think this is love.
Well, love comes in many forms, and since Masurao was born, maybe this is love too?
Masurao himself won’t be happy with that, though. He said it was a grudge over a steak, but since his mother’s roots were at the core of it, his anger might flare up again. Should I back him up? Hmm, it’s a tough call.
While I feel for Masurao, from the Emperor’s point of view, I can see why he had to rank the wives in his harem.
It’s a political marriage to strengthen ties with the wives’ families. By taking the daughters of the most powerful people in the Empire into the harem, he balances the power between houses or sets the stage for national projects.
It’s that ‘harem politics’ thing. The daughters are basically hostages and representatives. Is that good or bad?
Thinking about it for my own house, the ones who want to play politics the most are Sar-Sar’s family. Next is Princess Auroora. She has to use everything she can for her own country. Royalty who carry their nation on their shoulders are like that. Even for a small country, that doesn’t change; in fact, because they’re closer to the people, the sense of duty might be even stronger.
Tizzy also has people in her land and former subjects who believe in her. It seems that since she became my wife, relatives I’ve never even heard of have been reaching out to her from far away.
The nobles in this world are almost all related, anyway. Princess Auroora and Tizzy are cousins, and she’s apparently a distant relative of Ms. Floria too.
It seems that about two hundred years ago, a noble whose daughter married into the Duke Mineley family eventually lost their status and was adopted into the Toyota Viscount house. In other words, Tizzy and Sar-Sar also share blood.
Ah, it seems there was also a daughter who joined the Larse Empire’s harem from the Mineley family about a hundred years ago. It’s even become a folk tale where she’s said to have fled because she didn’t want to be a sacrifice. According to Schulz, she was actually sent back because she wasn’t much to look at; a total lie.
Anyway, the Larse Emperor and Tizzy might be related. Plus, the oldest son of the Mineley family who took the daughter to the Larse Empire was snatched by the horse tribes of the Great Plains on his way home. He was let go three years later after a ransom was paid, but by then, he had apparently gotten close to the chief’s daughter.
The fact that Masurao was claiming rights to the Mineley family actually had some logic to it, I guess.
No wonder everyone was so interested in the Habsburg video. even if they don’t know about genetics, they must have seen the bad effects of incest themselves.
Blood ties. They say blood is thicker than water, but that’s just saying it’s better than nothing.
It’s just a blood tie, and yet, it’s a blood tie.
If the Emperor of Larse wanted peace with the horse people, he should have treated Masurao with more respect.
He’s the kind of person who could be a ‘bridge’ that everyone talks about. It sounds cool, but in reality, people like that are usually seen as outsiders by both sides and pushed away. I should probably go easy on Masurao for having a twisted personality.
Masurao might have felt a connection to the Summoned Heroes. That feeling of not belonging in this world. A constant, quiet sense of being an outsider. If they bond over their wounds, they’ll become friends. His weird charisma might be part of that too.
”Water! Bring water!! I’m going crazy from thirst. What happens if you die in a dream? Is it okay?”
The Emperor guy started shouting again. Even a kid could hold out longer than this. This guy might have even less class than I do. He doesn’t seem popular at all.
Maybe his subordinates are just keeping him around as a figurehead? If he’s just a puppet, there’s no point in even talking to him.
If that’s the case, I’ll just kidnap the real boss behind the Emperor and start over.
”Hey, Masurao. Tell Urth to find out if someone is pulling the Emperor’s strings.”
”Got it—, I just finished the video. That was really educational.”
Is he acting more like a kid in front of me? Well, the more I learn about his life, the more I feel bad for him, so I’ll let him be a bit spoiled.
”Father, is it about time to send in our Doll Princess?” Claude asked.
”Regenerated Doll Princess, yeah. Good idea. The Emperor says he’s thirsty. Let’s make a plan to give him water if he starts being honest.”
”I read in a manga once that it’s best to keep them thirsty when you’re training them,” Kisarra added.
Kisarra is acting like she didn’t just ask to marry me.
A bit disappointing. No, this is for the best.
”Alright, Verdandi, you’re up!”
”Hold on a second! Giving orders to my own copy… Claude, you’ve gotten quite full of yourself, haven’t you?” Tizzy said.
Ah, Tizzy, who’s usually a stone wall, is actually mad. It looks like Claude accidentally stepped on a mine.
She usually shows her real self to the family, but she was serious just now.
”More importantly, that girl’s name. Wasn’t she in a manga?” Uno asked.
So that’s what Uno cares about, huh. Her manga collection has gotten huge before I even noticed.
Since she wants physical copies of her favorites, my uncle must be having a hard time—wait, no, since it’s him, he’s probably just sending stacks of them for fun.
It’s Uno’s special right to pick the one she wants most from the pile. Somehow, that became a rule.
Back in school, I couldn’t even buy one manga a month. I had too many other things to save for.
My uncle, with his gold bar bank account, buys in bulk. He even sends American comics.
By now, I’m probably the one who knows the least about manga in the Family. Even so, I knew the one Uno was talking about.
”It’s not from a manga, it’s from mythology. Mr. Ginchi said to name the Regenerated Doll Princesses after old Earth gods. He said gods who don’t have many believers now are best. So we used the names of the three Goddesses of fate from Norse mythology.”
The key is that they’ve lost their followers.
The Indra Gun¹
² was a bad choice. The god Indra is still worshipped as Taishakuten. Maybe that’s why it ended up so ridiculously powerful.
Norse mythology should be fine, right? Their fame hasn’t shot up because of manga, and they haven’t gotten their power back, have they?
”The power to control fate, huh. Old Earth gods aren’t that different from the ones here. Still, that Dwarf is a tricky one.”
”Was it a bad move?”
”Hmm? Not really. Doesn’t it sound kind of interesting?”
Uno’s words worry me, but she always says stuff like that… I don’t think it’s a flag.
Tizzy’s mood has already bounced back, so all’s well that ends well.
”Um, Miss Verdandi, you’re on.”
When Claude acts polite, Tizzy nods along. It’s actually kind of sweet.
”Feel free to give me orders. I am Sir Claude’s slave, after all,” Verdandi said.
Ah, she’s making things complicated again. Wait, Verdandi… is she doing that on purpose? Just what I’d expect from Tizzy’s copy. She’s got quite the attitude.
I guess she’s good for a negotiation. She’s definitely a tough one.
”Is she overkill for that Emperor?”
”A lion, et cetera. Deploying forces one by one, et cetera,” Ms. Nina said.
Ms. Nina and her ‘et cetera’ phase. I wonder if that’s from a manga. Or maybe a light novel.
It’s cute, like a little kid’s word game. Wait, for Ms. Nina, Japanese is a foreign language.
Is she doing this naturally without a cheatability?
This girl is a natural-born cheat.

Summary:
The Larse Emperor wakes up in a white room created by Uno and reveals his narcissistic plans to dominate the world and crush the nation of Sabroa. The protagonist and his family observe the Emperor’s fragile ego, realizing he has completely forgotten his own wife, Masurao’s mother. To stop Kisarra’s inappropriate advances, the protagonist shows his family a video about the Habsburg family’s history of incestuous downfall. The team decides to deploy Verdandi, a Regenerated Doll Princess, to break the Emperor’s spirit and extract information.
—
Character Insight:
The Larse Emperor’s internal monologue reveals a ruler so insulated by power that he views humans as goblins and lives in a constant state of self-aggrandizement. Masurao’s deep resentment is fueled by the realization that his mother was merely a ‘flavor’ to his father, highlighting the cold reality of harem politics. The protagonist continues to reject the role of Emperor, viewing leadership as a ‘punishment game’ of endless responsibility, preferring to remain a ‘good neighbor’ with superior firepower.
—
Behind the Scene:
The author uses the ‘White Room’ as a psychological staging ground to contrast the Emperor’s internal delusions with the cold reality of his capture. The inclusion of the ‘Habsburg jaw’ and ‘Marie Antoinette’ references highlights the protagonist’s reliance on Earth’s historical precedents to solve ‘isekai’ social issues.
