Chapter 62 Ena-san’s Massage ①

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Wait, did I seriously go this long without describing Ena-san’s appearance? I could’ve sworn I wrote it down, but looking at the character list, I realized she wasn’t even on there.

* * *

”I have returned, Anma-sama,”. Corinna said. “I have brought our guest.”

”Um, excuse me for the intrusion! I’m here for my massage. I’ll be in your care!” Ena-san added.

Corinna led the way in, followed closely by Ena-san. As Ena-san bowed in greeting, her shoulder-length, dark-brown hair swayed gently. Her coloring is actually quite close to a typical Japanese person’s; if she were mixed in with my old classmates, she’d melt right in. Her build isn’t much different from the other girls in our group, and she was dressed in the same signature white dress as everyone else. Even the name ‘Ena’ sounds like something you’d commonly hear back in Japan.

”Ena-san, are you actually a descendant of a Summoned One?” I asked.

”Me? Hehe, well, that’s right. If you go back far enough, anyway!” Ena-san replied with a mischievous grin.

As I suspected, she has Japanese blood in her. However, Corinna, standing beside her, just tilted her head in confusion. Jane-san, who had been sighing at my side, spoke up with an exasperated tone.

”Please do not say things that might mislead Anma-sama, desuwa.” Jane-san chided.

”Ehehe. Sorry, I couldn’t help myself,” Ena-san said, scratching her cheek with a finger.

Wait, so was she joking? She looks so Japanese that I was sure I’d hit the nail on the head.

”Anma-sama, while it is true this person draws the blood of a Summoned One, it was several generations ago, so the lineage is quite thin. Most nobles in this kingdom would qualify if that is the standard,” Jane-san explained.

”Then does Jane-san also have Summoned One blood?” I asked.

”Yes, of course, desuwa. In almost every generation, at least one child is born between the Hero and the Royal Family. From there, the bloodline spreads. If you go back far enough, there isn’t a single noble in this country who doesn’t carry the Hero’s blood, desuwa,” Jane-san replied.

In other words, she’s a genetic throwback. She claimed to be a descendant, but the distance is so far that she’s just technically ‘inheriting’ the blood. It wasn’t a lie, but it definitely wasn’t what I’d imagined. I thought she was a direct descendant, like Corinna.

”Ehe. Sorry. But I’m often told I look like the Summoned Ones. Even the name ‘Ena’… my mother saw my hair color and gave me a name she’d heard from a previous Summoned One,” Ena-san said.

”Our people frequently incorporate the blood of Summoned Ones into our lines,” Jane-san added. “It’s not uncommon to see someone who bears a resemblance. However, it’s rare to find someone like Ena-san who shares the same skin and hair tone so closely.”

Now that I think about it, even Jane-san’s features look more like a Japanese person’s than a Westerner’s. No wonder I felt such a sense of familiarity with everyone here.

Satisfied with the explanation, I shifted my focus to the job. I glanced at her chest. Is her bust size about the same as Sara-san’s? No, maybe a little larger. Speaking of which, Sara-san had brought two maids with her, but Ena-san appeared to be alone.

”Oh, I came by myself because I wanted to ask about the Appraisal¹ results,” Ena-san said. “I wasn’t sure if it was something I should discuss in front of the maids.”

”Ah, I appreciate the discretion. Thank you,” I said.

She’d been worried the results might be sensitive. Apparently, she’d also received strict orders from the Princess to report to Her Highness’s ears before the information reached anyone else. I really appreciated the thoughtfulness. Of course, knowing the Skill I’d actually unlocked was ‘Boundless Stamina²,’ I mostly just felt a crushing sense of guilt.

”The Class President was also very concerned about the hair-removal massage,” Ena-san continued. “I need to make sure I have the details down so I can answer whatever she asks!”

”Oh, right. Class President Owa,” I muttered.

I’d forgotten Ena-san was supposed to report back to her. In the end, it fell on me to explain the Appraisal results to Ena-san. Telling a girl who looked exactly like a high schooler back home, “Hey, I just picked up a skill that gives me a legendary libido, ” was awkward. In Japan, that’s a straight-up s*xual harassment charge.

Fortunately, Ena-san’s common sense was rooted in this world. She just laughed it off. “Ahaha, I see! Sounds like Jane-san has her work cut out for her,” she said. That was a lifesaver. Corinna, however, was hearing this for the first time; she just gave me a look that said, ‘I knew Anma-sama’s Essence³ was built differently.’

I moved the conversation toward the hair-removal oil massage. Her eyes lit up when she heard it wouldn’t affect her hair or eyebrows, but her expression knotted as soon as I mentioned the side effects. Her face clouded even further when I shared Jane-san’s theory.

”I’m sorry. I don’t think I have the authority to decide how much of this we should share. I’ll likely have to request an audience in the Princess’s chambers after the massage to discuss this,” Ena-san sighed.

The classic ‘escalate to the boss’ move. This was officially above Ena-san’s pay grade.

”If the side effects stack like Jane-san thinks they do, then every massage is just going to ramp up the… well, the desire. We’ll be found out by the second or third session,” Ena-san muttered, her eyes starting to spin with worry. “Maybe it’s better not to stack them, even if it means the hair-removal stops? But then again, if I act all weird every time I get a massage, that’ll be a giveaway too…”

She couldn’t see a single path that didn’t end in being caught. She was dizzy with anxiety.

”Is it really that obvious?” I asked.

”It’ll be totally obvious! Class President Owa will definitely notice. Even when I told her I was coming here today, she gave me this look like she suspected something was up,” Ena-san said.

The Class President’s intuition was terrifying. Had I really left that many clues?

”She heard that the Princess, Alisha, Jane-san, Sara-san, and now I were all getting massages, and then she heard about the hair removal,” Ena-san explained. “She said you didn’t look nearly surprised enough when you ‘discovered’ the hair-removal effect, so she suspects there’s something else hidden behind it.”

”As expected, the Class President is sharp, desuwa,” Jane-san noted. “What shall we do?”

”How about this?” I proposed. “We tell them there’s a side effect that makes the skin temporarily hypersensitive. We explain that if a man touches you while you’re in that state, it might lead to some accidental arousal. We offer the treatment only to those who are okay with that risk.”

It was a half-truth, half-lie. I wasn’t sure if it actually made them ‘sensitive,’ but…

”Honestly, that’s much easier to swallow than ‘your libido will accumulate,’” Ena-san agreed. “Saying ‘my skin is sensitive so I might get a bit tingly’ sounds less like a scandalous side effect and more like a physical reaction.”

”It does have a better ring to it, desuwa,” Jane-san added. “People can understand skin becoming sensitive after an oil treatment.”

They both seemed to prefer that angle. Personally, I knew hiding the truth forever was impossible, so this felt like the best compromise. Besides, with this excuse, even if someone noticed a girl acting strangely, we could just tease them: ‘Oh, you’re just overstimulated because of the massage.’ It was two birds with one stone.

”Alright, I’ll go report this to the Princess later,” I said. “But first, let’s get to the massage.”

At my words, Ena-san’s pale face flushed a deep crimson, and she gave a small nod.

 Summary:

Ena-san arrives for her massage, and the group discusses the prevalence of Hero/Summoned One bloodlines among the local nobility. Anma is forced to reveal his new ‘Boundless Stamina’ skill, leading to an awkward conversation about the hair-removal massage’s aphrodisiac side effects. They devise a cover story involving ‘hypersensitive skin’ to avoid suspicion from the sharp-witted Class President.

 —

 Trivia:

 - Jane-san and Ena-san both look Japanese due to ancient bloodlines, not recent summons.

 - The ‘Boundless Stamina’ (Zetsurin) skill is what’s causing the increased s*xual tension.

 - The Class President (Owa) is already suspicious of Anma’s reaction to discovering the hair-removal effect

 —

 Character Insight:

Ena-san shows a playful side initially but quickly becomes overwhelmed by the political and social risks of the massage side effects, showing she respects the Class President’s sharp mind.

 —

 Behind the Scenes:

The author notes that Ena-san’s description was accidentally omitted from previous character lists despite her design being intended to look familiar to the protagonist.
