Chapter 122 Lucy
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”Phew… that hit the spot. That steak was grilled to perfection. Did you handle the stove, Karen?”
I’d just stepped out of the bath and was already making short work of a four-person steak lunch the girls had whipped up. I cracked a beer, leaning back to look at Karen as she sat across from me.
”Yes! I heard you liked yours medium, Sanada-kun, so I put my heart into it!” Karen said, beaming.
”Haha, well, I appreciate it. Thanks,” I replied.
Karen gave a cheerful wave of her coffee cup. Both Sayaka and Sheena were watching her with warm, almost sisterly smiles. Sanae, on the other hand, was completely wiped out. The second she finished eating, she’d face-planted onto the sofa. Not surprising – we’d just finished a rather vigorous ‘consolation’ session in the bath. I’d given Sayaka, Karen, and Sheena a round each, but I’d let loose three times inside Sanae without pulling out.
Still, when it comes to s*x, the woman has the recovery time of a freak of nature. She’ll be back on her feet in no time.
I looked past her, gazing out the living room window at the beach. Outside, Saizou was darting between palm trees, raining down throwing knives on Rock, who was frantically repositioning his shield to keep up. Saizou’s movements were impressively three-dimensional – he was completely toying with Rock by attacking from above.
”Oh! Looks like Saizou and Rock are still at it,” Karen noted, following my gaze. She nodded with a sense of pride. “He’s moving exactly like I taught him. He’s looking more like a real ninja every second!”
”You’re the one who taught him that?” I asked.
”Duh! You can’t be a ninja if you aren’t leaping from branch to branch and hurling shuriken! Saizou is working his butt off to be the ultimate Ninja Goblin. It’s funny – even though familiars are just ‘pseudo-lifeforms,’ they have so much personality,” Karen said.
”They definitely have that,” I muttered.
The word ‘familiar’ triggered a memory. I stood up and headed to the service room, pulling a Magic Sealing Crystal ¹ from my spatial pouch. I set it down on the stone floor and tapped the appraisal ² function.
[Item: Magic Sealing Crystal]
A rare crystal containing a sealed monster. Drops are extremely infrequent.
Sealed Entity: Kobold (Status: Initialized)
Usage: Input Mana to manifest the sealed entity. The creature is bound by Subjugation Magic and will offer absolute obedience to the one who provides the Mana.
Note: If the familiar reaches a near-death state, it will forcibly return to the crystal. Instant death results in permanent destruction.
”Nice. It really did initialize,” I said to myself.
I’d been hoping for this. It seems that when a Master dies, their familiars are wiped clean. The fact that it remained in crystal form probably means it’s treated as a hard item. Since it’s reset, it’ll be a loyal pet to whoever wakes it up next. Satisfied, I headed back to the living room. Karen and the others looked up, confused by my sudden departure, until I held up the crystal.
”Wait, a Magic Sealing Crystal?” Karen blinked.
”But Rock and Saizou are right there?” Sayaka added, pointing outside.
”I picked this up after the raid,” I explained. “I was thinking we’d make this Kobold Karen’s familiar.”
”Oh my! Rock-chan is getting a new little brother – or sister!” Sayaka chirped.
Karen’s eyes went wide. “Wait, for me? Really!?”
”Yeah. You’re vulnerable when you’re reloading that magic gun. This thing can act as a shield or a fetch-dog for Magic Stones. Rock covers Sayaka and Sanae in the back, but since you’re mid-line, things get dicey for you in a scramble. Consider this your bodyguard-slash-assistant,” I said.
”Yes! I used to have hunting dogs back home, so this is perfect! Thank you, Yakumo!” Karen cheered.
”It makes sense,” Sayaka nodded. “Karen-san definitely needs the extra protection.”
”Ugh… I want one too,” Sanae groaned, lifting her face from the sofa cushions with a look of pure envy. “But I guess Karen is in more danger. Fine.”
Karen was practically vibrating with excitement. She skipped toward the door leading out to the island, and the rest of us followed close behind. Even Sanae managed to drag herself up.
”Master, are you certain this is wise?” Sheena whispered.
She was the only one who remembered this thing belonged to Arashiyama’s crew.
”I checked it with appraisal. It’s been completely initialized. I’ll keep an eye on it, but it should be fine,” I replied.
”I see. So it works just like the games,” Sheena said.
”At least the raid wasn’t a total financial loss,” I joked, shrugging. Sheena gave a soft, knowing laugh.
We stepped out into the tropical heat. Even though it was sweltering, the room stayed cool even with the door open – some weird quirk of the dungeon’s climate control.
”Okay, here goes! I just… pour Mana into it, right? Hnnnngh… Oh! It’s glowing!” Karen shouted.
Karen didn’t have much Mana to work with yet, but after a few seconds of intense concentration, the crystal flashed. She tossed it onto the sand. I shifted my weight, ready to cast a spell if things turned ugly. The crystal erupted in a blinding white light, and then –
”Yap!”
Standing there was a fluffy, snow-white dog with big, watery eyes.

”Whoa! So cute!” Karen squealed.
”It’s so white! It’s adorable!” Sayaka joined in.
I stared at the thing. “Isn’t that a little too cute?”
”Master… is that really a Kobold?” Sheena asked, sounding skeptical.
”Probably…” I muttered.
While the dog-lovers were gushing, Sanae, Sheena, and I were just dumbfounded. This was nothing like the crazed, drooling monsters that lunged at us in the dungeon. Even Rock, though charming in his own way, still had the face of a classic Shiba-style Kobold. This thing had tiny, folded ears and a long, silky coat. It looked nothing like a Shiba Inu.
”She looks just like an American Eskimo Dog,” Karen noted.
”Totally! They’re super popular back in the States!”
I turned to Sheena. “What do you think?”
”Perhaps it read the thoughts of the person who provided the Mana and altered its form accordingly?” Sheena suggested.
”I know there’s a mental link between a Master and a familiar, but still…” I trailed off.
Every other familiar I’d seen looked like a standard monster. Why was Karen’s so different? Then I noticed something else. No junk.
”Karen, I think it’s a female,” I said.
”Huh? Oh, you’re right! No wonder she’s such a sweetheart!” Karen said, kneeling to check.
Rock’s ‘equipment’ was so huge you could see it from a mile away, so the difference was obvious.
”She needs a name! Hmm… Lucy! I’m gonna call her Lucy! Nice to meet you, Lucy! I’m Karen!”
”It suits her perfectly. Lucy-chan, I’m Sayaka. Let’s be friends!”
”Yap!” the dog barked happily.
”Eeeeee! So cute!” the girls cheered in unison.
”Can that thing even fight?” I asked. “If it gets killed, those two are going to be absolutely devastated.”
”We should probably power-level her as soon as possible,” Sheena suggested.
”Agreed,” I said.
”Yakumo! I want one! Come on, how do I get a familiar?” Sanae ran over, tugging at my arm.
”Finding another Kobold crystal is luck of the draw, but we might find something on the 11th floor. Just wait until then,” I replied.
A Green Wolf would be a good fit for her. An archer and a wolf – classic combo.
”Actually, I can think of a monster that’s perfect for Sanae-san,” Sheena said with a wicked glint in her eye.
”Really!? What is it? A tiger? A leopard?” Sanae asked.
”An Orc. A sow and an Orc – it’s a match made in heaven,” Sheena replied flatly.
”Excuse me?! An Orc is a pig-man! You bitch, how is that perfect!?” Sanae yelled.
”Weren’t you the one going ‘oink oink’ while Master was taking you from behind in the bath?” Sheena asked.
”I did NOT! Stop making things up!”
Well, she didn’t actually grunt. She was just making these weird, half-strangled moans because she was coming so hard she sounded like a zombie.
”Oh? Was it more of a ‘snort snort’ then?” Sheena teased.
”Shut up! Yakumo, do something about this poisonous rabbit! She’s just jealous because you filled me up more than her!” Sanae shouted.
”The slutty sow has quite the mouth on her,” Sheena countered, “especially considering she basically squeezed every drop out of Master by sheer animal instinct.”
”Who are you calling a slutty sow?! It’s your fault for passing out so fast!”
”Sanae-san is the abnormal one. That stamina is terrifying. Truly a Lust Rank S. I’m honestly repulsed,” Sheena said with a shrug.
”Wh-What is ‘Rank S’?! I am not a slut!” Sanae cried out.
I couldn’t help but chuckle. “You two really do get along.”
”AS IF! I would never get along with a woman like this!” Sanae barked.
”As the Second Wife, my status is far too high to mingle with a mere s*x slave,” Sheena added primly.
”Alright, alright. That’s enough,” I said.
I reached out, wrapping my arm around Sanae’s waist and pulling her flush against me. She pouted and looked away, but she didn’t pull back. Sheena watched us with a thin smile. Seriously, none of these women are honest with themselves.
I’ve noticed that the look in Sheena’s eyes when she’s teasing Sanae is the exact same look she gets when she talks about her ‘Princess.’ From what Sheena’s told me, that Princess was just as impulsive and ‘disappointing’ as Sanae is. Sheena isn’t being mean; she’s playing. She’s found a new target to dote on in her own twisted way. Sheena’s actually the one who felt the most for Sanae today when she was crying over the raid. She’s only being a brat now so Sanae doesn’t drown in her own guilt.
Talk about a pair of handfuls.
I guess I’ll have to step in and play the mediator. Tonight, I’ll take them both at the same time – a little 3P action. I’ll make them both squeal and maybe get some yuri play going while I’m at it. It’s a tough job being a harem master, but someone’s gotta do it.

Summary:
Following a successful raid and a long bath, Sanada Yakumo gifts a salvaged Magic Sealing Crystal to Karen. To everyone’s surprise, the summoned Kobold, Lucy, looks like a cute fluffy dog rather than a dungeon monster. The chapter ends with playful, albeit heated, banter between Sheena and Sanae, leading Yakumo to plan a joint night with both.
—
Trivia:
- The familiar’s appearance was likely influenced by Karen’s subconscious thoughts of American dog breeds.
- Lucy is specifically noted to be female, unlike Rock.
- The Magic Sealing Crystal was originally loot from Arashiyama’s group.
- Sheena’s teasing of Sanae mirrors her past relationship with her ‘Princess’.
- The dungeon room has a magical climate control that keeps the heat out
—
Character Insight:
Yakumo is showing more strategic planning for his harem members’ safety by providing Karen with a guard. Sheena’s ‘mean’ behavior is revealed to be her way of providing emotional support and distraction for Sanae.
—
Behind the Scenes:
The ‘Lust Rank S’ comment is a meta-reference to adult game mechanics or harem tropes common in the genre.
