Chapter 228 Yamato Hina and the Demon King Medinilla ㉗

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

The Demon King’s territory was a different beast entirely from the lands where humans lived. The mana density in the atmosphere was thick, heavy enough to weigh on the lungs. The soil, saturated with that same energy, was unnaturally fertile; crops grew here with a speed that made it easy to see why human nations were so obsessed with invasion. For the demons living here, it was nothing but a nuisance.

The downside, however, was the strength of the monsters.

Which brought us to the present. Having cleared the desert and entered the Demon King’s border, we found ourselves in a mess.

We were being swarmed by a literal army of Goblins.

Calling it a ‘swarm’ was an understatement. There were at least three hundred of them – a green tide of muscle and filth.

 ”Hah!”

Yamato Hina cleaved through a Goblin with a diagonal shoulder-to-hip cut. But they were coming from every direction. Ise stood back-to-back with her, covering her blind spots with mechanical precision.

Mihiro was fighting a hell of a battle too. A mounting pile of Goblin corpses lay scattered around them, but their breath was coming in ragged gasps. Fatigue was starting to set in.

 ”Spiral Gale¹!”

Reese unleashed a Martial Art. A localized whirlwind erupted, sending a dozen Goblins tumbling backward. But in an army this size, the gap was filled the moment it was made. Worse, the larger the technique, the bigger the opening it left behind. In the blink of an eye, the Goblins exploited it.

 ”Ngh – kyaa!”

Reese’s balance broke, and she was tackled into the dirt.

”Reese! Hold on, I’m – ugh!”

Honoka Narumi tried to break toward her, but she was likewise swarmed and pinned down by a mass of green bodies.

Alice and Sango were occupied elsewhere, fighting like demons to protect their own circles. They couldn’t break away to help. Ironically, the two they were supposed to be ‘protecting’ – Tatei and Yokoo – were doing the most slaughtering.

 ”Take this! de-gozaru”

 ”Bombs away! nanda-na”

The Vertical-Horizontal duo started lobbing their ‘specialties’ into the thick of the swarm. The moment the cylinders hit the ground, they erupted.

These weren’t just grenades; they were Tatei’s custom-built Bearing Bombs. Upon detonation, they sprayed hundreds of steel balls in every direction. Every toss claimed ten to twenty Goblins – either blown to red mist or left screaming with fatal shrapnel wounds. It was a feat made possible only because Alice and Sango were acting as their meat-shields. Of course, they couldn’t throw them anywhere near our own girls. The lethality was too high.

Mashiro tried to keep the tide back with sorcery, but the sheer weight of numbers was too much. Like the others, she was eventually swarmed and forced to the ground.

By the way… me, Yukiko, and Bolgano? We were just watching.

I wanted them to gain the experience. Honoka, Mihiro, and Reese were still lagging behind Hina’s group in terms of Level. Honoka was especially low-tier. They could handle the trash in Greedia, but like I said, the mobs in the Demon King’s land were built different. I wasn’t going to step in unless I absolutely had to.

As for Yukiko, she had Aegis² active at all times. Thanks to our Kin-bond, she shared my Veni, Vidi, Vici skill. She got a cut of the XP every time I breathe on something. She was basically being power-leveled in her sleep, so her stats were actually pretty cracked.

There was one more reason I was sitting out: Ise.

The girl was a stubborn wall. She hated my guts so much she’d rather die than fight alongside me. She couldn’t avoid it with the Sandworms in the desert, but since she wasn’t part of that specific skirmish, she’d been back on her high horse.

”Cooperating with a savage, vulgar man like you?” she’d said. “Just the thought gives me the chills.”

Honestly, her level of ‘purity’ was almost impressive.

 But things were getting ugly.

 ”No! Nooo! Master! Help me!”

”Wait – what are you… no! Stop it! Stop it!”

The Goblins were already exposing themselves, brandishing their pathetic, shriveled little ‘tools.’ They were a joke compared to mine, but they were filthy, and for anyone who wasn’t a total deviant, being handled by a monster is the kind of trauma you don’t walk away from. And look, even if they couldn’t get pregnant, watching my ‘possessions’ get handled by these pests didn’t exactly sit right with me.

If it were Hina or Ise being pinned, I might have just grabbed some popcorn and enjoyed the show. But not these three.

”Hah. Guess that’s the limit. Yukiko, Bolgano.”

 ”Ready when you are.”

”Good grief, I was starting to think I’d grow a beard waiting.”

We’d been spectating from atop the Prydwen, but it was time to move. Ise looked like she wanted to lodge a formal protest, but I didn’t give a damn. You guys can do whatever you want, but nobody touches my property.

Step one: Get these vermin off my girls.

”Hey, you Goblins! Attack Yukiko instead!”

I triggered Royal Authority³ for the first time in a while.

The effect was instant. Every Goblin within earshot froze. Their tiny brains couldn’t fight the command. As one, they turned away from Honoka, Reese, and Mashiro, completely ignoring their easy prey to scramble toward Yukiko.

They threw themselves at her, desperate to obey the order to ‘attack.’ But Yukiko had Aegis flared up. Every strike, every grab, every pathetic attempt to violate her was simply reflected back at them with double the force. They were being bounced away like rubber balls, unable to lay a single finger on her. They should have given up, but Royal Authority doesn’t allow for surrendering. No matter how many bones they broke or how many times they were flung into the dirt, they just kept coming back for more.

Yukiko wasn’t just a wall, though. She began casting Blizzard, an AOE ice spell that started carving through the swarm’s numbers like a frozen scythe.

”Using a woman as a decoy… you truly are the lowest of the low,” Ise hissed, glaring at me.

I just looked at her. It wasn’t my fault she and her ‘pure’ little squad couldn’t handle the heat.

”If you have time to flap your mouth, maybe try killing a few more Goblins.”

 ”…Tch.”

She clicked her tongue and went back to work. Ise used her Parting Body skill to split her focus, surgically finishing off the Goblins Yukiko had already weakened.

Honoka, Reese, and Mashiro scrambled to their feet, adjusting their torn clothes and gear before launching a counter-attack from the rear. Normally, the Goblins would have turned to face them, but under the absolute weight of Royal Authority, they couldn’t even look back. They were locked onto Yukiko like moths to a flame.

The ones outside the range of my voice were being turned into scrap by Bolgano. With every casual swing of his blade, he sent Goblin torsos and legs flying in opposite directions.

”Hmph. No resistance at all. Come on, put some heart into it! Move faster!”

Bolgano wasn’t the type to lose to trash like this.

Of course, a swarm this big had to have a brain. I carved my way through the Hob-Goblins until I found the prize.

 The Goblin King.

He was massive, towering over the Hob-Goblins, with enough raw strength to crush a human flat.

 ”Gurgle-graaaaaah!”

The King let out a deafening roar, hefting a slab of iron even bigger than Bolgano’s sword. The howl carried a heavy Intimidation effect, meant to freeze a man’s blood in his veins. Too bad for him, I don’t have blood like that anymore.

”Heh… Hahaha! I’m going to savor every bit of you!”

I let out a low, jagged laugh.

He didn’t stand a chance. I didn’t just kill the Goblin King – I literally devoured him.

 Later…

Mashiro found out that Natsumi could actually transform into monsters. Naturally, she practically begged him to use his tentacles on her. She wanted to see if ‘extra-human appendages’ could push her ‘development’ even further.

 ”I can’t… I can’t leave My Lord Master anymore…” Mashiro moaned. “Please… more… use the tentacles on me…”

”Seriously?” Natsumi muttered. “Mashiro’s ‘cool genius’ image is just… completely dead, isn’t it?”

 —

 Summary:

The group enters the Demon King’s territory and is immediately besieged by a massive Goblin army. Natsumi initially stays back to allow the girls to level up, but intervenes using ‘Royal Authority’ when they are nearly violated. The chapter ends with Natsumi easily devouring the Goblin King and a comedic post-script regarding Mashiro’s new fetish.

 —

 Trivia:

 - Ise uses the archaic ending ‘de-gozaru’, indicating a samurai-like persona.

 - Natsumi’s ‘Royal Authority’ forces enemies to follow absolute commands, overriding their survival instincts.

 - Yukiko’s ‘Aegis’ reflects damage back at attackers with 2x power.

 - Natsumi considers Honoka, Reese, and Mashiro his ‘property’.

 - Tatei and Yokoo are Earthlings who specialize in modern-style grenades

 —

 Character Insight:

Natsumi’s possessiveness is his primary motivation for protection, rather than altruism. Mashiro’s intellectual curiosity has fully transitioned into a s*xual obsession with Natsumi’s monster capabilities.

 —

 Behind the Scenes:

The Goblin King’s iron sword being bigger than Bolgano’s highlights the scaling difficulty of the new zone.
