Volume 1 Chapter 13 Level 1 Skills
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
The item shop carried everything from magic tools and potions to various adventuring gear. I decided to pick up some basic supplies and potions for the journey starting tomorrow. Potions are consumable items¹ crafted through alchemy; the most common varieties are HP and MP potions used for restoration. They are ranked by grade, with “Unrated” being the bottom tier, followed by F through S-grade. There are also specialized types, like detoxification potions, but I figured F-grade HP potions would be enough for now.
As for my current funds, I’ve borrowed ten gold coins from the state-roughly equivalent to 1,000,000 yen-to cover immediate expenses. They called it a “gesture of sincerity,” though it felt more like a calculated move. (I can’t help but think: “You’re only lending it to me?”) Still, since I don’t have a cent to my name, it’s a lifesaver. Apparently, if things go well, I should be able to pay it back in about a year. Being in debt leaves a bad taste in my mouth, so I want to start grinding and pay it off as fast as possible.
The shop also stocked flint, tents, and blankets for camping, so I bought some for our training starting tomorrow. They had pricier items too, like magic fire-starters and tools that produced drinking water. However, since our Magic Swordsman, Kenta, can already use Water Magic and will learn Fire Magic soon, the “Leemans” don’t really need them. Besides, they’re way too expensive. With the shopping done, we headed toward a blacksmith workshop recommended by Mercedes. Apparently, it’s run by a dwarf, and his work is top-tier.
”Excuse me! Is Ralph-san in? It’s Mercedes!”
”Oh, if it isn’t little lady Mercedes,” a voice grumbled. “Did you break more of the Knight Order’s gear?”
”Not today! I brought someone who wants to apprentice!”
(As I thought, Mercedes must screw up pretty often. No wonder she knows a blacksmith even though the Order usually provides her equipment.)
”An apprentice? I’m not looking for one. Whatever… who is it?”
”Soregashi is Makoto de-gozaru. I possess the Blacksmithing Skill de-gozaru.”
”With that look, you’re one of the summoned ones, eh? Well, what’s your level?”
”Since I was just summoned today, it is still Level 1 de-gozaru.”
”Then you’re useless to me. Go level up and come back. If you’re like the other summoned ones, you’ll hit Level 40 in about a year.”
”Oh! Then that shall be fine de-gozaru! I shall return in one year to request apprenticeship de-gozaru!”
”Fine by me. Is that all?”
”Yes, thank you very much de-gozaru!”
”Right. And little lady? Don’t break any more of my stuff.”
”I’ll do my best!”
(Mercedes is definitely going to break something else.)

We finally reached our last destination: the inn. It wasn’t exactly luxury, but it was clean enough.
”Alright everyone, I’ll be here to pick you up at 6:00 AM tomorrow. Be ready at the entrance,” Mercedes said.
”Wait, that early?”
”What are you talking about? During this season, the sun is up by 5:00. I’m being generous.”
”Fair enough.”
Apparently, mornings in this world start early. It’s currently summer, so the days are long.
”By the way, Mercedes, how long are you going to be our guide?” I asked.
”Including today, it’s one week. The seventh day is a rest day, so we have five days of work left. I can’t train you properly in that time, so I’ll just be teaching you the basics.”
Rest days are apparently dictated by the gods. People rest on the day associated with the god relevant to their profession. For instance, government offices involved in law enforcement rest on the Day of Indigo², the day of the Blue God who oversees order. Since the Knight Order can’t all rest at once, their shifts are staggered.
”I see. Thanks for everything.”
”Don’t worry about it,” Mercedes replied. “I might have failed at finding a boyfriend, but this is still my job.”
”I still appreciate the help.”
”How formal! That doesn’t make my heart flutter at all, you know!”
”You just had to add that last part, didn’t you?”
(Mercedes really is a bit of a letdown.)
* * *
The meal at the inn was surprisingly tasty-a pot-au-feu-style soup served with the quintessential fantasy staple, black bread. While we ate, the party talked about our plans, but we didn’t know the geography, which Skills to pick, or the first thing about adventurer life. In the end, we decided to just follow Mercedes’ lead for the week.
The cheap inn didn’t have a bath, so I had to wash up at the well. The water is fine for now, but if I don’t learn Fire Magic by winter, life is going to be miserable. I need to make a mental note of that. (Though I’ll be washing up every day, so it’s not like I’ll forget.)
On the subject of plumbing, there was a slime in the toilet. They’re quiet and eat basically anything, so as long as they don’t escape, they’re perfect for waste disposal. Since slimes are monsters, I’d get experience for killing it, but I can’t exactly go around slaughtering the inn’s toilet slime. I’ll be doing plenty of fighting tomorrow anyway. Slimes supposedly give the lowest experience points, so one wouldn’t make much of a difference.
Thinking about experience reminded me that I need to level up my Skills, too. The ones I have with levels are Appraisal, Item Box, and Healing Magic. They’re probably weak at Level 1, but they won’t improve unless I use them. Since I’m staying in for the night, I might as well burn some MP until I’m on the verge of passing out. I tried Appraising the one-handed sword I borrowed from the knights.
”Appraisal.”
I didn’t need to say it, but I felt like it.

(Useless! At least tell me it’s a ‘One-Handed Sword’!)
[‘Appraisal’ has reached Level 2.]
Oh, the 10x Experience cheat works on Skill EXP too! I wanted to keep going, but I didn’t want to pass out and miss out on testing the others. Next up was Item Box.
”Item Box, open.”
A black hole appeared in the air… and it was tiny. It was barely a centimeter wide! I tried sticking the room key into it, but it only went in about a centimeter deep. (What am I supposed to do with this?)
[‘Item Box’ has reached Level 2.]
It’s still useless, but maybe there’s hope for the future? Finally, I tried Healing Magic.
”Petit Heal.”
My body pulsed with a faint light, but I didn’t feel any different. Then again, I wasn’t actually injured.
[‘Healing Magic’ has reached Level 2.]
This one is a priority since the party’s lives will depend on it tomorrow. With the levels increased, my Skill list looks like this:
—
Skills: Private Power Generation (Masturbation), Mental Memory, The Onanist’s Tribulation, 10x Experience Gain, Appraisal (2)(0/100), Language Comprehension, Item Box (2)(0/100), Healing Magic (2)(0/100)
—
Now, there is one last thing to do tonight. Why? Because my Class is ‘Onanist,’ and that means it’s time for some ‘Private Power Generation.’

Summary:
The protagonist and his party spend their first day in the new world preparing for adventure by purchasing supplies and securing lodging. Makoto attempts to secure a blacksmithing apprenticeship but is told he needs more experience. The protagonist ends the day testing his low-level skills and realizing the power of his experience-gain cheat.
—
Trivia:
- The ‘Blue God’ is associated with order and law enforcement.
- Slimes are used as toilet plumbing in this world.
- The protagonist’s ’10x Experience Gain’ cheat applies to Skill EXP, not just character level.
- Magic items like fire-starters are expensive because magic users can replicate their effects.
- The protagonist is technically in debt to the kingdom for 10 gold coins
—
Character Insight:
The protagonist shows a practical, almost frugal mindset regarding resources, likely influenced by his previous life as a salaryman. Makoto’s dedication to his blacksmithing goal suggests he will be a focused, specialized member of the team.

TL Notes:
Notes:
• Mercedes – She is a Guide Knight, recently recruited and currently the highest‑level among the youngsters, with brown semi‑long hair and thick chest armor. Energetic yet airheaded, she serves the Maultasche Kingdom as a beautiful girl knight, acting as a guide and chaperone for the summoned heroes and the protagonist’s party. Though described as having a “disappointing” personality, she presents a “pure and lovely” appearance and is self‑proclaimed pure and lovely beauty. As a member of the Knight Order, she is knowledgeable about the world’s mechanics and the guild system, and despite being prone to breaking equipment, she is a high‑level combatant and currently searching for a boyfriend.
• Kenta – A Magic Swordsman with a refreshing normal build, a fan of a famous RPG but lacking confidence to lead, now serves in the Salarymans party as a flexible combatant who can switch between vanguard and mid‑guard. He is a fellow reincarnated individual struggling to adjust to the new environment, a summoned Magic Swordsman class member, a member of the Leemans party, and already uses Water Magic.
• Makoto – He is a short, chubby man of the Blacksmith class, a formal summoned individual from Earth who speaks in a stiff, samurai‑like manner and uses the first‑person pronoun “sogashi”. As a member of the Salarymans party, he belongs to a production class yet possesses high STR and VIT, making him the party’s vanguard, and he aspires to become a master blacksmith, seeking apprenticeship under a master smith. He is a member of Reemans, enthusiastic about elves, and is noted for staring intensely at beautiful women, especially an elven girl in this chapter.
