Volume 2 Chapter 30 The Exile Drama

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

”Daisuke-dono, you are hereby exiled from the party-degozaru!”

 ”W-what?! How could this be?!”

During a dinner that should have been a celebration, I was served a sudden notice of exile by my own party members.

* * *

The rank-up interviews were held in the Guild Master’s office. Naturally, since low-rank adventurers never had a reason to step foot in there, it was my first time seeing the place.

 ”Are you ready?” asked Dietlinde.

 ”Yes, Dietlinde-san,” I replied.

Since the guild clerks were swamped in the morning and the Guild Master couldn’t spare a moment, things didn’t kick off until 10:00 AM, once the building finally settled down. While the timing was set by party, the interviews themselves were conducted individually. Since Adventurer Ranks are tied to the person, not the group, it made sense-though apparently, guilds in other countries handle things differently.

Furthermore, if a person’s actual strength is in doubt despite reaching the sixteenth floor, a mock battle might be required. I suppose there are people who pay for high-level escorts to power-level them or manage to reach the depths without ever drawing a blade. I had a feeling those were the types who got weeded out here.

I headed to the counter of the usual “cool beauty,” Dietlinde, and had her lead me to the Guild Master’s office. At the adjacent counter, Thomas was practically drooling over a cute new receptionist. (Go to work, man.) His wives looked exasperated but didn’t seem inclined to stop him. Well, that’s just how this world works.

Dietlinde led me deep into the guild and knocked on a door that looked far more impressive than the rest. The other party members stayed behind to wait near the clerks.

”It’s Dietlinde. I’ve brought the adventurer for the rank-up interview.”

”Enter,” a woman’s voice called from within.

”Excuse me,” I said, stepping inside.

The person buried in paperwork at the executive desk was an elderly woman-likely human. Her face, framed by streaks of white hair, showed her age, and she looked like she had a strictly no-nonsense personality.

”This is Daisuke-san, here for the B-Rank promotion interview,” said Dietlinde.

 ”I’m Daisuke.”

 ”I see. Dietlinde, you’re dismissed.”

”Yes, ma’am. Excuse me,” Dietlinde replied before leaving.

”Daisuke, take a seat,” the Guild Master commanded.

 ”Thank you.”

(Man, after all this, an interview is actually making me nervous.) I wanted to cast “Refresh,” but the glow would be too obvious, so I just settled for a deep breath to steady my nerves.

”I am Roswitha, the Guild Master¹ of the Maultasche Royal Capital.”

”It’s a pleasure to meet you. I’m Daisuke.”

Bowing culture seemed to be a thing here, so I lowered my head respectfully.

”Now then, we’ll begin the interview for your B-Rank promotion. Can I assume you reached the sixteenth floor through your own merit?”

”Yes. I worked with my party members and reached it through our own strength.”

 Standard questions so far.

”Do you have anything to prove it?”

 ”Would a Minotaur’s horn work?”

”That’s a bit weak,” Roswitha countered. “You can buy those in any shop in town.”

True enough, but that made things difficult.

”It’s hard to show proof here, but if necessary, I’m happy to do a mock battle. Or I can demonstrate my Skills on the spot.”

”And what kind of Skills can you show me?”

(Hmm, is Healing Magic the safest bet?) I was technically the party’s healer, after all. Or maybe buff magic.

”Well, I could demonstrate Healing Magic or support spells without any issue.”

”Then show me your Healing Magic,” Roswitha said.

The moment the words left her mouth, she grabbed a knife and drove it into her own hand with a wet shluck. (What the-?!) I could heal it, sure, but she actually did it?! Talk about nerves of steel.

 ”How’s that? ‘Great Heal.’”

 ”Hmph. Indeed.”

The wound closed up instantly. I guess I’d proven my worth. A few more questions followed-mostly about my role in the party and our tactics against the fifteenth-floor Golems-and I answered them all without a hitch.

”You have the skill, and your answers are consistent. You pass.”

 ”Thank you very much.”

The Guild Master announced my success flatly, without a hint of a smile. Still, it was ten times better than a fake grin and a “we wish you the best in your future endeavors.”²

”That is all for the interview. Send the next one in.”

”Yes, ma’am. Thank you,” I said.

I left the room and signaled Dietlinde and Kenta-kun. Since I figured the three geeks would fail if they tried to make a joke out of it, I made sure to give them a stern warning.

* * *

The interviews for all five of us finished, and everyone’s promotion was approved. My threat to the geeks-“If you try to be funny, you’ll fail”-seemed to have done the trick; there were no issues. Kenta-kun didn’t seem to mind either way.

And with that, our party’s goal was achieved. The “Leemans”³ were officially disbanding. Today was the real dissolution party. The tavern was rowdy as usual, and our group was making a decent amount of noise ourselves.

”The men of this world just don’t appreciate the glory of the Yandere-degozaru! Yanderes are top-tier!”

”Don’t talk nonsense!” shouted Makoto. “Flat-chested lolis are the strongest! Miryam-san is the literal ideal woman!”

”You guys don’t get it at all,” Kazuya chimed in. “Real women betray you and get old. 2D never betrays you and stays young forever. 2D is life-ssu!”

The three idiots, flushed with drink, were passionately laying out their personal manifestos. It’s fine to have a “type,” but given the content, I was getting worried about the stares we were attracting.

”Takuya, if the world actually realizes how great Yanderes are, your girlfriend is going to be incredibly popular. Are you really okay with that?”

 ”Umu…”

”Makoto, if you keep shouting that, Ralph-san and Miryam-san are going to hear it. A punch in the face will be the least of your worries.”

”I… I am aware of that,” Makoto replied.

 ”Kazuya… good luck.”

”Wait, I’m the only one getting the cold shoulder-ssu?!”

It wasn’t like I could explain the appeal of real women to them anyway. The only people I knew who could teach them were my acquaintances at the brothel, but if I left them to Nora, they’d probably be drained dry… and Rita, too… Besides, if I did that, it’d feel like Kazuya’s hard work over the past year was for nothing. And for the record, I had no intention of asking Regina-san.

”But still, even though I’m the only one left behind in the end, it’s almost like the reverse of an exile story.”

 ”An Isekai… an adventurer… an exile… I’ve got it-zo!”

 ”! Me too-ssu!”

 ”I as well-degozaru!”

 ”Eh? What?”

The three idiots had clearly thought of something. Pointing their fingers at me with dramatic flair, they started shouting nonsense.

”Daisuke-dono, you are hereby exiled from the party-degozaru!”

 ”You’re exiled-ssu!” shouted Kazuya.

 ”Exiled-zo!” Makoto added.

”Wait, guys? What’s going on?” asked Kenta-kun.

Only Kenta-kun couldn’t keep up, but I knew exactly what this was. Since they went to the trouble, I might as well play along.

”N-no! After I worked so hard for all of you! Why?!”

”Daisuke-dono doesn’t deal enough damage during monster subjugation-degozaru!”

 ”Daisuke-shi’s support magic wasn’t even essential-zo!”

”A jack-of-all-trades like Daisuke-chi is dead weight to this party-ssu!”

”Ugh! I thought I was contributing, but I guess you all didn’t see it that way…!”

Well, it was an “exile drama.” Since I wasn’t actually being exiled, it was just a skit.

”Hahaha! As expected, Daisuke-shi gets it-zo!”

”Of course I do,” I said. “You guys live for these bits.”

”Hmph. You were a good leader-degozaru.”

”Yeah. We had a blast thanks to you-ssu,” Kazuya added.

”It’s not worth praising me for. I had fun too. Even if it was nothing but jokes until the very end… just try not to screw around too much from now on, okay? Well then, a toast to the end of the ‘Leemans’!”

 ”Cheers!”

Since none of them were being serious, the atmosphere immediately returned to being pleasant. I enjoyed myself too, but since these guys really do overdo the jokes sometimes, I’ll have to keep an eye on them.

 ”Wait… what does this mean…?” Kenta-kun asked.

Notably, Kenta-kun was the only one who didn’t understand what had just happened at all.

* * *

”Otto-san, I am sorry, but we must ask you to leave our party.”

 ”Eh…?”

In a different place, in a town about a week’s carriage ride from the Royal Capital of Maultasche. Outside, a light rain was falling. In a room of the inn where the Hero Party was staying, a man was being served his notice of expulsion.

”Why?! I’ve worked my heart out for this party!”

”That’s right!” Sakura yelled. “You’re just doing this to harass me because Otto and I-his ex-are dating!”

The one being booted was the Heavy Warrior, Otto. Sakura, who had started dating Otto a few days ago, was present, along with the accompanying Knight and the Caretaker.

”This has nothing to do with Sakura-san,” Shouta said. “It is a decision I have been weighing for some time.”

”He’s right, Sakura,” said Takumi. “It’s certainly unpleasant, but that is a separate issue entirely.”

”This is a formal decision by the Hero Party,” Osamu added. “Sakura, you’re not a member, so shut up and listen.”

”Now then, regarding the reason. I suppose you won’t be satisfied without hearing it,” Shouta continued.

Otto didn’t even try to hide his agitation; his eyes darted around frantically as his hands fumbled, but Hero Shouta deliberately continued in a flat, clinical tone.

”The primary factor is a lack of ability.”

”Wh-?! I’ve contributed as the party’s tank, haven’t I?! I was attacking properly too!”

”No,” Shouta replied. “In the beginning, there were many monsters that relied solely on physical attacks, and you functioned as a shield. However, for some time now, purely physical monsters have become rare; almost everything we face uses magic. Considering the time, effort, and MP Ren has to expend on Healing Magic just to keep you upright, I’ve judged that the party can subjugate monsters more efficiently without you.”

 ”N-no way…”

”Furthermore, regarding experience point distribution, removing one person allows for a 20% increase in growth efficiency. We need to level up as quickly as possible, so this margin is significant.”

”B-but up until now, I’ve been the one acting as the mediator! I’m the reason everyone got along!”

Having been logically dismantled on the topic of ability, Otto tried to change his angle.

”I don’t recall anything of the sort,” Shouta said. “In fact, you frequently made exaggerated reports-claiming you fought a ‘Goblin General’ when it was actually a ‘Goblin Leader’-just to pad your achievements. You also tailored your stories depending on who was listening, trying to manipulate the budget for your own convenience.”

 ”Regarding that… I’m sorry…”

”Also, though I wasn’t there to see it, I heard you were quite arrogant toward the tavern staff. Even when the Knight cautioned you that such behavior damages our reputation, you refused to listen.”

”That… well, I was just demanding the treatment appropriate for a member of the Hero Party…!”

”And yet, you never showed that attitude in front of me, did you? You knew deep down it was wrong.”

”Ugh… But if that’s the case, then Shouta-san or Takumi-san-“

”Hah? What about us?” Takumi barked. “You trying to deflect now?”

 ”Exactly. It’s pathetic,” Osamu added.

Shouta wasn’t a meathead; he kept a close eye on everyone. The Knight and Caretaker did everything to cover up the bad behavior of Shouta, Takumi, and Osamu, but they didn’t extend that courtesy to Otto. The Knight hadn’t expected it to reach this point, thinking that a single warning from Shouta would have been enough to fix him.

”Furthermore, continuing to employ a member with insufficient ability causes the Hero Party to be looked down upon. That has a negative influence on my ‘Beacon of Hope’ Skill.”

”What about… what about the others?! Osamu-san! You’re the one who recommended me!”

Pushed into a corner, Otto looked to the others for an ally. He had been particularly careful in his dealings with Osamu, an acquaintance from his previous life.

”You’ve dragged my name through the mud,” Osamu spat. “You’re a disgrace! Get out of my sight!”

 ”Ugh…”

”Osamu-san, there’s no need to go that far,” Shouta said. “There were times when his joining helped us.”

 ”Hmph.”

Contrary to Otto’s hopes, Osamu dismissed him coldly. As the one who had suggested Otto join in the first place, Osamu had decided it was better to cut ties now rather than let Otto drag them down.

 ”Ren-kun, what about you?!”

”…I have no objection,” Ren said.

”How can you say that?! I looked out for you so much!”

”Looked out for me…?” Ren asked. “Are you talking about the way you were constantly pestering me? Since we’re being honest, I’ll say it: you were a nuisance. You’d talk to me constantly while I was trying to work. If I didn’t stop and look you in the eye, you’d get angry and tell me to ‘look at your senior,’ so I was forced to stop what I was doing.”

 ”Ugh… ah…”

Ren had been harboring a massive amount of resentment, cutting Otto off with unexpectedly biting words. It was the natural result of Otto’s self-serving “mentorship.”

”Old man, the others are being too nice to say it, so I will,” Takumi said. “You’re in the way, so you’re fired. You’re ‘exiled’! Got it?”

 ”Takumi! That’s rude!” Shouta snapped.

”Hah?! It means the same damn thing!”

Shouta rebuked Takumi’s tone, but since he agreed with the sentiment, he couldn’t be too firm.

”If I’m exiled from the Hero Party, what am I supposed to do now…?”

”I waited until a year had passed for exactly that reason,” Shouta explained. “With your current level, you should be able to make a living as an adventurer. This town is far from the capital, and if you move just a bit further, you won’t run into anyone you know.”

Shouta had put thought into the timing. If he had exiled Otto in the capital, it would have ruined the man’s prospects. By doing it far away, the rumors would be delayed and murky.

”Our obligation is fulfilled. That equipment belongs to the state. Leave it here,” the Knight said.

”Otto-san, it ended like this, but thank you for your hard work over the last year,” Shouta said. “We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.”

Otto felt more wretched than ever.

 ”…I understand. Thank you.”

With no willpower left, Otto could only hang his head in acceptance.

 ”Caretaker-san, let’s go,” Otto muttered.

”No. This is where we part ways,” she replied.

”What? But you’re my Caretaker, right?”

”No. I am the ‘Hero Party’s Caretaker.’”

With a professional smile that didn’t reach her eyes, the Caretaker replied. From her perspective, Otto had been a complete “dead weight” draw that made her job miserable.

 ”…I see. Sakura…?”

”As if I’m going with you!” Sakura yelled. “God! I forced my way out of my party just to get in here, and now I can’t go back! What am I supposed to do tomorrow?!”

”If you were an adventurer before, go be one again,” Takumi said.

”Don’t think you can come crawling back to us, either,” Osamu added.

Sakura’s plan to marry into the nobility through Otto had gone up in smoke, and she didn’t even bother to keep up appearances. Her ex-boyfriends were cold, while Shouta and Ren wouldn’t even meet her gaze.

”…Thank you for everything,” Otto whispered.

Exiled from the Hero Party, Otto packed his meager belongings and left the inn alone, disappearing into the rainy night.

 —

 Summary:

Daisuke and his party ‘Leemans’ successfully pass their rank-up interviews at the guild before officially disbanding. To celebrate, the party’s resident geeks perform a mock ‘exile skit’ on Daisuke, which ends in high spirits. In harsh contrast, the Hero Party actually exiles the Heavy Warrior Otto in a cold, bureaucratic dismissal during a rainy night.

 —

 Trivia:

 - Roswitha’s willingness to self-harm with a knife to test a healing skill shows her extreme pragmatism.

 - Thomas is a polygamist whose wives are actually present in the guild.

 - The term ‘Oinori’ is a meta-reference to Japanese job rejection emails.

 - Otto’s ‘mentorship’ of Ren was actually viewed as harassment/nuisance.

 - Shouta’s skill ‘Beacon of Hope’ is negatively affected by having low-ability members in the party

 —

 Character Insight:

Daisuke shows a mix of leadership and resignation toward his ‘geek’ comrades, while Shouta reveals a ruthless dedication to efficiency that overrides personal history or morality.

 —

 Behind the Scenes:

The author notes that this chapter finally reaches the ‘exile’ turning point of the plot.

 —

 TL Notes:

1 ギルドMaster: Guild Master. The highest-ranking official in a local branch of the Adventurer’s Guild.

2 お祈り (Oinori): Literally ‘prayer’. A reference to ‘Oinori-mail’, the standard Japanese rejection letter for job seekers which ends with ‘we pray for your future success’.

3 Leemans: Likely a pun on ‘Salaryman’ and possibly ‘Lehman Brothers’, reflecting the party’s corporate/working-class vibe.

4 追放劇 (Tsuihou-geki): Exile drama/skit. A play on the popular ‘exiled from the hero’s party’ trope in web novels.

5 Beacon of Hope: 絶望の中の希望 (Hope Amidst Despair). Shouta’s unique skill that likely scales with party quality.

Notes:

• Dietlinde – Dietlinde‑san is a slender sheep‑type beastman with white curly hair and tiny horns, serving as a receptionist and clerk at the Adventurer’s Guild in the Maultasche Royal Capital. She moves with rhythmic low‑heel clicks, exudes a cool, sharp beauty, and maintains a distant, noble‑like professional distance. Though visibly exhausted, she coolly greets Daisuke before seeing him off, admires cosmetics but feels they’re out of reach, and favors calming scents.

• Thomas – A B-Rank adventurer and gorilla-type beastman in his mid-thirties. Approximately 2 meters tall with thick fur, a tail, and prominent canines. Leader of a harem party of four wives.

• Roswitha – The Guild Master of the Maultasche Royal Capital. An elderly human woman with white hair and a strict personality.

• Mai – Standing 175 cm tall with a toned, athletic build, she wears thick chest armor and a single ponytail, giving a slightly masculine look. As a War Saint Vanguard of the Working Women Party and member of the Leemans, she’s a former gym instructor who loves physical activity, adventure, and speaks briskly and clearly.

• Rin – Ice Mage of the JK Party: a tall, large‑breasted high‑school girl with long shaggy hair and thick chest armor. She wears a cool‑beauty façade but secretly loves makeup. Quiet and salty, her fragile VIT makes her physically imposing yet fragile; only intimate moments crack her mask, and her overwhelming presence dominates those around her, especially Daisuke’s delusion.

• Kenta – Black‑haired, handsome reincarnated mage‑swordsman with an ice‑coated blade, a gentleman of Leemans and the socially‑adjusted member of the “Three Idiots.” He serves Salarymans and Leemans, fights beside Daisuke (Lv20+), appears drained after a red‑light clash, hesitates to kill, watches the hero’s hidden strength, bonds with adventurers, and dates Karina. Now a talented magic swordsman with high Water Magic aptitude, moving to a party led by Alberto, a younger Leemans member often confused by the older geeks’ banter.

• Makoto – Leeman, a former Earth-summoned blacksmith now slimmer with clear skin, is a self-admitted lolicon and Leemans party tank who wields a massive shield instead of a hammer, marking this boss fight as his retirement match. Though once stout, his high STR/VIT still make him a goblin-tanking vanguard in heavy armor; he speaks stiff samurai-style “sogashi,” apprentices under mentor Ralph, and is called Makoto-san by Milliam—an open lolicon who declares “cuteness is justice.” He admires an elegant elven girl and retains low resistance to real-life adult women, balancing his geeky loli obsession with quiet reverence for grace and strength.

• Kazuya – Scrawny, low‑key summoner of the Leemans, he’s a geek who favors 2‑D waifus over real women, speaks in a lazy slacker tone, and carries a 2‑D little brother. Freckles vanished after leveling; he grades his 20+ Summoning Magic in solitude, treats summons as emotional anchors, and is obsessed with pulling a specific character from his past life, planning to depart on a journey soon.

• Takuya – Black-garbed masked ninja, exiled by the Hero’s party, now a Leemans member in Daisuke’s crew and mid-guard of the Salarymen; maintains a constant faux-samurai roleplay persona, speaking in archaic speech while obsessing over yanderes. Ninja-class, all-male party, stoic and pragmatic in combat, trains at level 20+, joins the ‘Three Idiots’ for vital-point strikes. Reincarnated, he once sought B-Rank to retire and serve a chosen individual—now quietly devoted to his crew, blending stealth, geeky obsession, and unwavering loyalty beneath his mask.

• Ralph – A Dwarf blacksmith and Milliam’s father. He runs a workshop and values rest days. Referred to as Ralph-san.

• Regina – Late‑twenties Onee‑san with blue‑purple hair, green eyes, marine‑blue dress split to the thigh, thigh‑high socks, and a voluptuous, large‑breasted figure; she runs Daydream (BSS), mentors girls like Nora and Rita, and is a respected senior Beastman and elite courtesan. Known for her “Masterpiece” body and exceptional technique, she’s a target of the protagonist’s revenge and part of Daisuke’s circle hoping she’ll retire to follow him.

• Nora – Petite beast‑girl with long curled grey hair, drooping ears and a tail, known as “Number Two” at Tagtraum and Daydream. She serves Daisuke arm‑in‑arm, playful yet serious, fights and sleeps with the protagonist, lures clients with erotic charm and squeezes them dry, while using cuteness to toy with men’s hearts.

• Rita – Standing 175 cm tall, this wolf‑type Beastman girl boasts dark brown hair, a fluffy tail and pointed ears. Her athletic, sprinter‑like build shows toned abs and massive stamina, while her long tongue and confident grin mark her as the famed “Number One” of Daydream. Popular and friendly, she thrives on competition and challenges.

• Otto – Heavy Warrior, former tank of the Hero Party (Lv52), reincarnated as a creepy, unpopular 50‑year‑old mind in a youthful body. He wears bulky armor and a stern face, is narcissistic, status‑obsessed and manipulative—obedient to Shouta and Takumi but tyrannical toward Ren and staff. Recommended by Osamu, he pretends to mentor/mediate yet is seen as a nuisance.

• Sakura – Reincarnated high‑school girl, Destroyer class, 160 cm slender with twin‑tails, perpetual scowl, thin chest armor and a short‑hair yankee style. Former JK Party member, once double‑dated Hero Shouta and Holy Knight Takumi, openly disliked by the protagonist and at odds with Daisuke. Now Otto’s supportive girlfriend, part of the Hero Party’s entourage, aiming to climb nobility by marrying into the party; their “stupid couple” dynamic is affectionate yet antagonistic.

• Shouta – A 17‑year‑old silver‑haired, sharp‑eyed former Student Council President and kendo captain, now a Sword Saint Hero of the Slash and Lightning, wielding Beacon of Hope. He leads the Hero Party, travels guarded by handlers, and remains coldly pragmatic, rejecting any caretakers.

• Takumi – Teenage Holy Knight in modest armor, summoned as Level‑1, once a delinquent from the ‘go‑home club.’ Arrogant, over‑familiar, hedonistic and hot‑headed, he serves as the party’s tank. Beaten by Martina, betrayed by his girlfriend Sakura, and now part of the Hero Party.

• Osamu – An 18‑year‑old reincarnated graduate now serving as a Sage of the Hero Party. He sports thick hair and a modern, salary‑man look, once led Araya’s team and died in a wreck, now wielding high‑level Fire, Wind, Water and Earth magic. Harsh and reputation‑obsessed, he’s an acquaintance of Otto from their prior world.

• Ren – Second‑year high‑schooler reborn as a Saint, healer and buffer for the Hero Party. Cynical and observant, he wears a plain school uniform with a faint halo, draws on MMO tactics, and rejects caretakers like Shouta. A Saint from another world, he joins the Hero Party, nursing resentment toward Otto’s forced mentorship.
