Vital-Master v3c17

Volume 3 Chapter 17

When we step outside the Dungeon, the sun is shining brilliantly overhead.

Even in this apocalyptic world where the globe has been blanketed by Monsters and turned into ruins, the sun alone continues to pour down its bright rays upon us, just as it always did.

Feeling encouraged by the warmth of those sunbeams, we begin to walk through the ruins.

It took quite a bit of time for the entire moving procession to exit the Dungeon, but even so, we should easily be able to reach Korakuen Dungeon¹ by the time the sun sets.

The inhabitants of ‘New Tokyo’ proceed slowly through the ruins of what was once Tokyo.

Up to this point, it seems no problems worth mentioning have occurred, and the procession continues to walk toward the destination with almost no stops.

Monsters do appear near us from time to time, but before I or the Guild Master even have to come out, those who can fight among the Dungeon residents step to the front and defeat them.

”At this pace, it’ll take about two hours, won’t it?” I ask.

”Yeah, that’s about how it was in previous moving cases too,” the Guild Master replies. “The Monsters are stronger than they were inside the Phase Two Dungeon, but they’re still only at a Phase Three level.”

The Guild Master is also a formidable warrior capable of fighting Phase Five Monsters². From her perspective, I suppose she can walk outside with the same feeling as walking through Tokyo when it was still peaceful.

”I hope nothing happens at this rate,” I say.

”Yeah, I hope so too,” she agrees. “Since we’re at it, Kanade… could I talk to you for a bit?”

 ”Of course.”

I thought this development meant the Guild Master had entered ‘Saori’ mode and was about to make me give her some lewd orders… but her story was actually very serious, touching on the order within the Korakuen Dungeon after we move and how we should go about conquering Dungeons. When she isn’t in one of her lewd-switch-activated states, the Guild Master is a very serious heroine.

We spend about thirty minutes talking about the future of the next Dungeon City and other matters. The Guild Master’s expression turns a little more serious.

”So, Kanade… how is the progress on the Phase Six conquest³ going?”

The topic she brought up was about the Phase Six Dungeon. It is no exaggeration to say that this is the most important issue for those of us living in this world. To take back this world blanketed in Monsters, we are required to completely conquer the Phase Six Dungeon. If the Dungeon Master’s words are correct, by completely conquering the Phase Six Monsters, it seems we can take back the operating systems of the Dungeons that exist in that area into our own hands.

The Phase Six Dungeon I am currently working on conquering is located in ‘Sano’, which is the closest to Tokyo. If we completely conquer this Phase Six Dungeon, we should be able to completely eliminate the Dungeon Monsters from this Tokyo area.

”Let’s see…” I reply, “I think conquering it is just a matter of time, but there are still lower levels I haven’t seen yet, so it’s hard to say for sure.”

The Monsters are simply strong, the traps are simply malicious, and they are simply huge.

The Phase Six Dungeon is a Dungeon that is simply difficult to conquer.

Currently, the upper levels of Phase Six are being handled by the full members of ‘Resonant Melody’, the middle levels of Phase Six by the three of us—myself, Mana, and Sakurako-san—and the bottom levels of Phase Six are being conquered by me alone.

By continuing to defeat overly powerful Monsters, the floor reached by each person is gradually extending…

and my power, by other means, is continuing to grow every single day.

If we can reach the point where the full members of ‘Resonant Melody’ can challenge the bottom level, or if my solo power becomes sufficient to conquer the Phase Six Dungeon…

as long as one of those two conditions is met, we should be able to conquer the Phase Six Dungeon.

”I see…” the Guild Master muses. “I feel terrible about leaving Phase Six entirely to you guys, but I can’t stop the Culling of the Phase Five Dungeons or the thinning out of the Monsters outside so they don’t increase too much…”

”Yeah…” I respond. “Please leave Phase Six to us and focus on managing the Dungeon City. We can take back the world by eliminating Monsters from around the Dungeon City while leaving Phase Six as it is.”

In the current situation where almost every Dungeon is going out of control, even if we were to eliminate most of the Monsters wandering outside, we could not feel at ease. However, it would be a different story if the combat strength held by the Dungeon City could maintain a balance against the Monsters even without us. We have no intention of giving up on the Phase Six Dungeon conquest, but at the same time, it is important that the combat strength of the Dungeon City is enriched.

”Yeah, you’re right,” she says. “Especially the growth and success of the women who have accepted Kanade’s (Pressure Point) (Rod-Type Pressure Point) are remarkable. If we have their power, it will certainly be possible to take back this world starting from the area around the Dungeon City. You guys take the Phase Six Dungeon, and we’ll take the area around the Dungeon City…”

”Yeah,” I confirm, “with that two-pronged strategy… let’s take this world back into our hands.”

”Yeah, Kanade… let’s do our best.”

I squeeze the Guild Master’s offered hand tightly.

”Well, I wonder if Sakurako and the others have entered the Korakuen Dungeon by now?”

 ”That’s true… wait, what?”

It is no wonder that I let out such a dazed voice. Because in front of where I was walking… I saw a torrent of jet-black light ruthlessly mowing down a group of ruined buildings. That jet-black light collided with a blade of light released from where it was heading, and eventually disappeared. A little later, a tremendous roar echoed all the way to where we were.

”That is definitely not an attack at a Phase Three Monster level!” I shout. “It looks like Maria-san took the hit, but they are in danger! Guild Master, I will go to this! Can I leave this place to you?!”

”Ah, Kanade, I’m counting on you!!!”

Sprinting past the residents who are flustered by the sudden attack from someone, I dash with all my might toward the area that was hit.
