Volume 3 Chapter 25
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”I believe we have shared the information we have to a certain extent up to this point. From here on, I would like us to firm up the plan for the operation to rescue those who were kidnapped,” the Guild Master said.
As she spoke, the Guild Master operated the tablet once again. Marked on the map inside the screen were arrows extending from the raid point where Maria-san and the others had been.
”The trail of the attackers is clearly grasped only up to this arrow part… up to here, the destruction marks that are thought to have been created by that giant Black Dragon remain,” the Guild Master reported.
”…Does that mean that the base of these ruffians is located there?” Mana asked.
To that question from Mana, the Guild Master shook her head.
”It is not that the Black Dragon disappeared here, but there is no Dungeon here. It just means that the Black Dragon vanished at this spot,” the Guild Master clarified.
”I see… That is troublesome, then…” Mana replied.
…Troublesome?
In front of me, Minami-chan, Haruka-san, and Sakurako-san, who were tilting our heads, the Guild Master continued her explanation.
”As Mana said, this is a troublesome matter. It is likely that the leader of the attackers with that light brown hair has a (skill) that allows him to store the Black Dragon in some kind of subspace. It is troublesome in the sense that we do not know when or from where the Black Dragon will attack, and it is also troublesome in the sense that there is a possibility they have a hidden card other than the Black Dragon1. If they can control a Black Dragon, they should be able to control Monsters of a level close to it,” the Guild Master explained.
To those words from the Guild Master, Mana and Rin-sensei were nodding back with serious expressions.
Indeed, if what the Guild Master says is correct, it will become quite troublesome. The only ones on our team who can hold back a Black Dragon solo are me, Mana, and Sakurako-san. If they can put out numbers greater than that, there is a possibility that we will suffer devastating damage.
”Well, let’s stop at the idea that these ‘KSK Three’ might be more troublesome than initially assumed for now. Returning to the story, the Explorer Guild’s search team has succeeded in identifying their base from this disappearance point. Even if they are ruffians, it does not change the fact that they set up their base inside a ‘Phase Two’ Dungeon. It is difficult to set up a base in the outside world, even for those with exceptional ability. From that perspective, we have searched through ‘Phase Two’ Dungeons one after another in the direction of these arrows,” the Guild Master detailed.
Along with those words from the Guild Master, a purple circle was displayed on the map. That place was… Ogikubo… no, was it Kichijoji? That expectation of mine was correct.
”…The place they are using as a base is this location… the ‘Kichijoji’ Dungeon. Inside the rocky-type Dungeon, it seems they have made a fortress to serve as their lair inside those rocks. A rocky fortress is solid. Since there is an upward slope in front of it, it is also a place that is easy to defend. To take this place from the front, a difference in ability of a certain level or more will likely be necessary,” the Guild Master stated.
The Guild Master breathed out a small sigh while wearing a more serious expression than usual.
”If we had time, we could take the method of calling back ‘Beyond the Peak’ from the west and crushing them with superior force… but considering that it is only women who are being kidnapped, we do not have that much leeway. They might not be killed, but there is no doubt that their chastity will be stolen,” the Guild Master added.
’Beyond the Peak’, once an S-rank Explorer team and… now one of the only two Transcendental-class Dungeon Explorer teams alongside us, ‘Resonant Melody’. Just as we, ‘Resonant Melody’, support the humanity in the East Japan area centered on Tokyo, they operate with Osaka as the center and serve as the spiritual pillar for the people surviving in West Japan. For a short period, we could probably borrow a few high-level explorers from such ‘Beyond the Peak’, but as the Guild Master said, we do not have the time. Because there is no way I could forgive Aina-chan, or the other women… from having their chastity stolen in such a way.
”Therefore, this time, I would like to achieve the annihilation of the ‘KSK Three’ centered on the forces of ‘New Tokyo’, with the assistance of the adjacent Dungeon Cities, ‘New Machida’ and ‘New Hachioji’,” the Guild Master concluded.
To those words from the Guild Master, the Explorers lined up in the conference room returned nods. The Guild Master, who showed a satisfied expression at that reaction, looked towards us, ‘Resonant Melody’.
”Naturally, the core of that will be the Transcendental-class Explorer team, ‘Resonant Melody’. There are three things that will be important in this operation: rescuing the women who may be taken hostage, dealing with high-phase Monsters starting with the Black Dragon, and capturing the three brothers who are the leaders of the ‘KSK Three’, who are thought to have particularly strong power. For that, the first thing I would like to ask of ‘Resonant Melody’ is—” the Guild Master said.
In order to make the rescue of Aina-chan and the others, and the annihilation of the ‘KSK Three’ certain, we continued our serious meeting.
