Chapter 190 Grayfia’s Inspection
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
The Juggernaut Drive’s five seconds were not enough to claim Aki’s life. Following Asia’s treatment1, once the most perilous stretch had passed, his innate Martial God-level constitution and vitality kicked in, promptly stabilizing his wounds.
The immediate danger to his life had dissipated, yet the repercussions of the Juggernaut Drive mode were substantial. Aki had regained consciousness, but he found himself unable to command his own limbs; he couldn’t even manage to pry his eyes open.
The conflict had drawn to a close. After a quick clearing of the ravaged site, the “unconscious” Aki and the thoroughly spent Rias were transported back to the Occult Research Club (ORC).
”Asia, I have recovered enough; the remainder shall heal in due course,” Rias said.
Rias and Aki were laid out side-by-side upon the sofa. Following the blond Little Nun’s ministrations, Rias had regained the ability to move. She checked Asia’s progress, a worried expression crossing her face as she glanced toward Aki.
”Is Koaki still unable to rouse himself?” Rias asked.
”Like, he’s totally not,” Asia replied, her voice filled with disappointment. “My healing ability isn’t doing anything anymore, but I’ve got no clue why Aki-sensei still hasn’t woken up.”
”Perhaps he is merely exhausted; let us allow him his rest for the time being,” Rias suggested.
Akeno performed a thorough inspection of her own; Aki’s aura and Mana levels were stable, and while his vitality had been somewhat drained, it wasn’t anything critically worrying.
Listening to their exchange, Aki desperately wanted to chime in that it wasn’t exhaustion, but he couldn’t even manage to open his eyes, let alone voice his thoughts. Aki’s current state was bizarre. It didn’t feel like his soul had departed; his perception remained anchored to his body, yet he was completely unable to feel that body at all.
He attempted to commune with the sleeping Red Dragon Emperor, but the entity offered no response. He tried to utilize Mental magic to reach the others, yet that too proved futile.
His mental faculties were completely locked within his own physical shell. Aside from the raw data his five senses provided, Aki felt nothing. Since his eyes remained closed, his world was even more limited.
”Yuma, please assist Koaki with cleaning up, and then see that he is placed upon the bed in my private quarters,” Rias commanded, forcing her resolve to remain firm. “Akeno, go and inform the women at Koaki’s residence. Until he wakes, he remains here under my direct supervision.”
”And if they insist on seeing him?” Akeno asked.
”The three women from the Takamine Family have permission, but instruct them that they are responsible for explaining the situation to the others,” Rias replied.
Akeno glanced at Aki, who was being carried in Amano Yuuma’s arms, and gave a slight nod. “Understood.”
”Yuto, you are to accompany Koneko, Rute, and Vana to the Cathedral base. Should you uncover anything of significance, ensure it is preserved immediately. The news of Azazel’s demise will surely have reached the Demon King by now,” Rias instructed.
Before she could finish, a silver-white Magic Circle manifested before her. Grayfia appeared, her demeanor grave. She remained in her standard, austere maid attire. Upon sensing the profound weakness in Rias’s aura, she felt a sudden jolt of concern.
”Lady Rias, a Fallen Angel has just reached out to Lord Demon King, claiming that Azazel’s aura has vanished,” Grayfia reported. She kept her concern carefully masked, her voice smooth and detached. “Since the disappearance occurred within Kuoh Town, do you possess any pertinent information?”
Without a doubt, the moment Azazel had perished, his people sensed it, yet they likely feared whether this was Sirzechs’s doing, prompting this inquiry. Rias hesitated, unsure of the motive behind Grayfia’s question, but eventually decided upon honesty.
…
Upon hearing Rias’s report, Grayfia breathed a soft sigh. “I find it hard to believe you actually managed to slay Azazel.”
Azazel was, after all, a specialist in the research and development of Sacred Gears, and his raw combat prowess was somewhat inferior to others of his rank. Yet, regardless of the disparity, he remained a Demon King class entity. That he had been taken down by a mere pair of High-Class Devils—namely, Aki and Rias—was unexpected.
Grayfia chose not to press the matter further, shifting her focus. “Might you allow me to see the gentleman chosen by the Red Dragon Emperor?”
The status of the Two Heavenly Dragons was incredibly high. As their successor, his rank was not inferior to that of a Pure-blood Demon. While Grayfia was formidable in her own right, her position as Sirzechs’s peerage necessitated the proper formalities when addressing the successor of the Two Heavenly Dragons.
Rias didn’t offer an answer immediately, choosing instead to counter. “Grayfia, what exactly is the Demon King’s intent? I was the one who felled Azazel. If there is an issue…”
”Lady Rias, pray do not concern yourself,” Grayfia interjected. “If your own strength was sufficient to resolve the matter of Azazel, we shall handle the subsequent developments.”
”Then why must you see Koaki?” Rias asked.
”My dear sister-in-law has acquired such a formidable peerage; surely it is not amiss for me to inquire on behalf of Lord Sirzechs, is it?” Grayfia replied.
Rias remained silent for a moment before detailing Aki’s current condition.
”He remains in a coma?” Grayfia nodded. “If you do not find it intrusive, I may be able to provide some insight. It is possible I might identify the underlying cause.”
As the Underworld’s most formidable queen, her strength was undeniably Demon King class, perhaps even higher, and her experience far eclipsed Rias’s own. She had already formed a hypothesis regarding Aki’s state.
”Asia, pray accompany her to the bathroom. Yuma should have finished by now,” Rias directed.
Rias harbored no fear that Grayfia possessed malicious intent; while their outward demeanor suggested distance, their bond was quite strong. Grayfia appeared here in her role as the Demon King’s secretary, not as a sister-in-law, and she was clearly maintaining the necessary professional boundaries.
When the blond Little Nun escorted the silver-haired woman into the bathroom, Amano Yuuma was positioned over Aki, bobbing up and down. Her small mouth struggled to accommodate the twenty-plus centimeter Great Dragon, leaving a significant portion of its thick form exposed. Asia let out a small gasp, her face flushing bright red as she chided, “Miss Yuma, whatever are you doing? Aki-sensei is still in a coma!”
”Ugh… mm… uh…”
After mumbling vaguely, Amano Yuuma realized the Great Dragon was simply too large to fully contain, and she reluctantly withdrew. The massive dragon head, glistening with saliva, trembled in the open air. The sheer scale of the Great Dragon was enough to make even Grayfia, a mother herself, marvel in secret. Asia, however, was so mortified that she turned her back entirely, unable to look at Aki as he lay upon the bathroom floor.
”Cough, cough…” Amano Yuuma cleared her throat, and once she could speak clearly, she replied, “I’m aware he’s unconscious, but while I was cleaning him, he got a bit… restless. I merely wished to provide him some relief.”
Aki could not move or speak; he felt as though he were trapped in a dream, yet he remained acutely aware of the sensations playing across his body. Amano Yuuma’s soft, delicate hands continued their work, not sparing Little Aki or his most intimate regions. With his body stripped of its ability to move, the Great Dragon naturally responded to the stimulation, slowly beginning to stir.
”Oh my… Aki-sensei… H…” The blond Little Nun attempted to glance back, but the presence of others made her incredibly shy, and after a cute, frustrated stomp of her foot, she hurried out of the room.
Grayfia was left standing there, observing the awkward positioning of Aki and Amano Yuuma, feeling a rare moment of discomfort.
Amano Yuuma cast a glance toward Grayfia, her hand firmly gripping the Great Dragon as she continued her work. “Did you require something? If not, I shall resume. Oh, and please ensure the door is closed upon your exit.”
Grayfia was no sheltered maiden; the impressive size of Little Aki caused a brief ripple of interest within her, though she remained perfectly composed. She briefly relayed her purpose to Amano Yuuma.
”I see…” Amano Yuuma rubbed her legs together, clearly frustrated at being interrupted right before the main event. “Listen… Miss Grayfia, are you in a great hurry? If it isn’t an emergency, might I request you wait just a moment?”
”Miss Yuma, the inspection will be brief,” Grayfia replied. “Furthermore, should Lord Aki regain consciousness, I imagine you would find the experience far more pleasurable than your current efforts.”
Amano Yuuma grabbed the towel from the floor, clutching it to her chest as she slowly stood. “Make it quick. I’ll be waiting outside.”
Grayfia, eager to avoid any misunderstanding, added, “You are welcome to remain, Miss Yuma, should that make you more comfortable.”
