A violent wind burst forth from the four limbs of Suwa Ryuju, sweeping across the frozen lake. Even under that fierce assault, Kazuramichi Naoshi’s cynical grin only grew deeper. The footing beneath him was unstable, and he was being forced into an exchange with an opponent who could fight on equal ground.
To make things worse, there was no restraint in Ryuju’s movements at all. If you took apart any one action, you would find a form hidden within it. A karate strike. A judo throw. A sumo palm thrust. Then a taekwondo kick.
”Tossing them out so smoothly… truly, a thousand variations, aren’t ya?” Naoshi said.1
”For someone who moves like that, you’re surprisingly focused on one thing,” Ryuju replied in an even tone.
”Is that so? Girls tell me that all the time.”
Naoshi gave a dry laugh.
(It’s the eyes, isn’t it?)
It wasn’t only her control over her body. To reproduce those techniques, she needed an extraordinary power of observation. That natural gift of sight was the true foundation of her strength.
”Are you sure you can afford to keep talking?” Ryuju asked.
”You don’t have that kind of luxury, Kazuramichi.”
”Oh, I’ve got plenty.”
”—Ghk!?”
Thrum.
The instant their eyes met, a violent headache pierced through Naoshi’s skull.
”Tch!” Naoshi spat.
”—Shyaah!” Ryuju cried.
”Hmph.”
”Break!”
”Shyaah!”
”Guh—!”
”Is that your ‘luxury’?”
”Something like that,” Naoshi answered in his thick regional accent. “A technique that even Yuki-kun groaned at. I’ll show it to you, too.”
”Hmph. Then I shall reveal my true power.”
”Oh?”
”—Be honored. You are the first outsider to witness this.”
”That’s quite the makeover you’ve got there—!?”
”Guh—!”
”Oh?”
”—!?”
”Interesting, Kazuramichi. It was worth waiting for.”
”I wasn’t making you wait, and this is NOT interesting at all—!”
”Desperation? That’s unlike you.”
”Ghh…!”
”—Shyaah!”
”Missed.”
”Tch!”
”Kuku.”
”Damn you!”
”Those sharp eyes of yours are your weakness—!”
”Nu—!?”
”Let go—!”
”Ghk…! Going all the way—!”
”RAITEI (Thunderclap)!!”

The family members cried out at once.
”Are you alright, Deputy!?”
”—”
”Gotcha.”
Naoshi’s voice sounded exhausted.
”—You know, Naoshi, you always take things too far.”
Itsuki spoke in her usual calm, measured manner.
”Just bring the medical supplies. You’re first, Itsuki.”
”Yeah, yeah.”
”Haa…”

A practitioner of the Seto-Jinmei martial arts style, this sardonically witty man utilizes powerful lightning-based techniques like Raikiri to maintain his family’s significant position within the hierarchy.
• Naoshi – Kazuramichi, the acting head and exorcist of his family, is a pragmatic, blunt young strategist facing overwhelming supernatural threats. Currently on a frozen lake barrier in high-stakes combat, he uses lightning-based Reiryoku and maintains a deflective, comedic demeanor with a faux-Kansai accent. He navigates complex political ties with women and Ako’s possessive affection as her step-brother.
• Ryuju – The eldest daughter of the prestigious Suwa family and a First-Class Exorcist, Suwa is a tall, beautiful woman with long black hair, golden eyes, and a powerful physique. Linked to water deities, she acts as a dragon god and primary antagonist for Naoshi. This living legend possesses monster-like strength, lethal hand-to-hand combat skills, and spiritual power that manifests a Lake Suwa barrier.
• Suwa – A militant clan of Nagano exorcists descended from the Dragon God welcomes their eldest daughter to the training hall. Possessing golden eyes and black hair that shifts to red when using higher spirit energy, she wields wind-based abilities originating from her four limbs.
• Itsuki – A 177cm-tall swordswoman from the Mibu family with an asymmetrical bob and gray-and-blue eyes, she left her “handsome boy” past to live at the Kazuramichi household. Now Naoshi’s loyal mistress, medical support, and companion, she uses silver-bladed weaponry to protect him. Keenly observant, she is deeply, possessively devoted to Naoshi, though frequently exasperated by his reckless behavior.
• Yoshitada – The cousin of Naoshi who once transformed into an Oni and was defeated by a lightning strike.
